DoN Guide
I beat all 17 missions of Defenders of Neopia Series 1 on July 09, 2008. Just 39 days after I had made this account. My pets stats were: level 39, 35 strength boost, 55 defense boost and 91 hitpoints. The weapons I used to beat each challenger cost less than 1.5m neopoints total at the most. I think this shows that even if your pet isn't exactly the strongest, or if you don't have the best weapons, you can still beat DoN.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped, supported, and encouraged me along the way.
The Black Pteri
How to get him: Random event anywhere on Neopets.
Requirements: I recommend 35 strength boost(but you can win with 20 strength boost using 15-icon muffins such as: Brain Muffin, Smelly Dung Muffin, Darigan Muffin, Water Muffin, Icey Muffin, Shooting Star Muffin, or Robot Muffin instead of the Fire Muffins/Chocolate Chip Battle Biscuits. Check prices on each before buying). Also need: Purple Sticky Hand, any freezer(Ice Mote is good if you don't already have a good one like Snowglobe Staff or Green Frost Cannon, or better than those lol), Blue Scorchstone(or maybe even Downsize! if you have a lot of hitpoints remaining), 4 Fire Muffins (or better if you want/need to), and Burrow ability.
The Fight:
1. freezer + Purple Sticky Hand + Burrow. (You MUST steal his Thyoras Tear AND freeze him. If both don't happen, withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Fire Muffin + Fire Muffin + Fierce Attack.
3. Thyoras Tear(that you stole from him on the 1st turn) + Fire Muffin + Fierce Attack.
4. Blue Scorchstone + Fire Muffin + species attack.
Meuka
How to get him: When your pet is sick with Sneezles or NeoFlu, go here
Requirements: I had 20 strength/defense boost, and 26 hitpoints, but it's possible to beat him with less. Also need 4 Fire Muffin/Chocolate Chip Battle Biscuit 's (single-use 12-icons), any freezer(Green Frost Cannon or Snowglobe Staff are good, or Ice Mote), Purple Sticky Hand, Blue Scorchstone(or maybe even Bronze Scorchstone?) and Burrow ability.
The Fight:
1. Purple Sticky Hand + freezer + Burrow. (You MUST steal his Downsize Power Plus AND freeze him on this turn. If not, withdraw, heal and try again.)
2. Fire Muffin + Fire Muffin + Fierce Attack.
3. Downsize Power Plus(that you stole from him on the 1st turn) + Fire Muffin + Fierce Attack.
4. Blue Scorchstone + Fire Muffin + species attack.
Meerca Henchmen - Guide #1
How to get them: Refresh a lot here
Requirements: At least 65 hitpoints and AT LEAST 35 strength boost. Also need Downsize!, any 100% freezer like Scroll Of Freezing (or Ancient Lupe Wand for Lupes only), Brain Muffin x4 (15-icon single-use; Smelly Dung Muffin is similar so maybe check prices for which is cheaper), Thick Smoke Bomb, and any good constant attack weapon like Ice Club, Stone Club, Psellias Fighting Fan, Golden Compass, or maybe Ylanas Blaster (or a Prickly Potion). Also will need the abilities Burrow(or Sink) and Fiery Gaze(Diamond Dust is better).
The Fight:
1. Downsize! + constant attack weapon + Fiery Gaze/Diamond Dust. (must freeze them and you must not get frozen by them. If that doesn't happen, withdraw and try again)
2. (while they are frozen) Brain Muffin + Brain Muffin + Fierce/Berserk Attack.
3. 100% freezer + constant attack weapon + Burrow/Sink. (You must not get frozen by them on this turn. If you do, you will have to withdraw, heal, buy and equip 2 more muffins, and try again.)
4. (while they are frozen again) Water Muffin + Water Muffin + Fierce/Berserk Attack. (If you had 55 strength or better, you probably won by now. If not, continue on to the the last move...)
5. Thick Smoke Bomb + constant attack weapon + Fierce/Berserk/species attack.
Requirements: About 65 hitpoints and ANY strength should be enough I think. Also need: Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Thick Smoke Bomb, as well as abilities Burrow and Sink.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow/Sink. (They MUST NOT freeze you. They MUST use either Fierce attack or berserk attack or jump and attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow/Sink. (They MUST NOT freeze you and they MUST use either Fierce attack or Berserk attack or jump and attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
3. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + species attack. (It is okay if they freeze you on this turn, as long as they are dead. But they MUST use either Fierce attack or berserk attack or jump and attack on the first 2 turns of this battle, or you probably wont do enough damage to beat them.)
Giant Ghostkerchief
How to get him: Just go here
UPDATE: Fire Whip no longer changes your opponent's weapon, even though it still says that it does, but it actually doesn't.
Requirements: At least 35 strength boost I think should be enough. Also need: Shovel Plus, Turbo Flame Reflector, Double Dryer, Prickly Potion, Thick Smoke Bomb, any 100% freezer, 2 Water Muffin 's, and the abilities Burrow and Sink (and maybe Regeneration or Healing Vapour).
The Fight:
1. Shovel Plus + Turbo Flame Reflector + Burrow. (He MUST use his Ghostkerbomb+Jade Scorchstone+fierce/berserk attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Prickly Potion + Double Dryer + Sink. (He MUST use his Ghostkersword+fierce/berserk and NOT his Prismatic Mirror. If that doesn't happen, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
3. Double Dryer + Prickly Potion + defend/regeneration(on MEDIUM power!). (He must not kill you or use his Prismatic Mirror.)
4. Thick Smoke Bomb + 100% freezer + species attack. (If you have 35 strength boost then he must have 63 hitpoints or less(if you have Berserk attack then he must have 68 hitpoints or less) after this turn, if you have 55 strength boost then he must have 84 hitpoints or less(if you have berserk attack then he must have 90 hitpoints or less), and if you have 85 strength boost then he must have 105 hitpoints or less(if you have berserk attack then he must have 113 hitpoints or less). If he has more hitpoints than that after this turn, withdraw, heal, and try again.)
5. Water Muffin + Water Muffin + Fierce/berserk attack.
Snowbeast - Guide #1
How to get him: Refresh A LOT here or here
Requirements: At least 85 hitpoints, U-Bend of Great Justice, Double Dryer, and Burrow and Sink abilities.
The Fight:
1. U-Bend of Great Justice + Double Dryer + Sink. (he MUST use his Snowbeast Horn and NOT his Snowbeast Block of Ice for this turn. You should have at least 55 or so hitpoints remaining. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. U-Bend of Great Justice + Double Dryer + Burrow. (If he uses his Snowbeast Horn AND his Snowbeast Block of Ice AND Fierce/Berserk Attack, then you should win. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
Requirements: Around 100 hitpoints I think should be enough. Also need: Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Double Dryer, Super U-Bend, and Burrow and Sink abilities.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Sink. (He MUST NOT use his Snowbeast Block Of Ice and he MUST use berserk attack on this turn. And you need to have about 60 hitpoints left after this 1st turn.)
2. Double Dryer + Super U-Bend + Burrow. (If he uses his Snowbeast horn + Snowbeast Block Of Ice + fierce attack, then you win.
Giant Hungry Malevolent Chomby
How to get him: Random event here
Requirements: At least 75 hitpoints, Purple Sticky Hand, Shovel Plus, Ultra Dark Reflectorb, Dual Battle Mirror, Amulet Of Reflection, Thick Smoke Bomb, Burrow and Sink abilities.
The Fight:
1. Purple Sticky Hand + Ultra Dark Reflectorb + Sink. (You MUST steal his Thyoras Tear with the Purple Sticky Hand, and he MUST use his Jade Scorchstone and his Sword Of Skardsen. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Shovel Plus + Ultra Dark Reflectorb/Dual Battle Mirror + Burrow. (He needs to use his Seasonal Attack Pea, and if you think he might use his Sword of Skardsen then use the Ultra Dark Reflectorb instead of the Dual Battle Mirror.)
3. Thyoras Tear(CLICK THIS FIRST!) + Shovel Plus/Ultra Dark Reflectorb + species attack. (Just try to use the correct reflector for whichever weapon he uses. For example, if he uses his SAP, then hopefully you used the Shovel Plus. Or if he uses his Sword of Skardsen, then hopefully you used the Ultra Dark Reflectorb. As long as he has less than 180 hitpoints maximum, continue the battle, but if he has more hitpoints than that after this turn, you should probably withdraw, heal and try again.)
4. Thick Smoke Bomb(CLICK THIS FIRST!) + Amulet Of Reflection + species attack. (If he uses his Sword of Skardsen + fierce attack on this turn, then you should do around 180 damage to him, and he should be dead.)
Mootix Warrior - Guide #1
How to get him: Automatic challenger
Requirements: Only need about 60 hitpoints. Only other things you need are Shovel Plus, Shield of Reflection, and Burrow ability.
The Fight:
1. Shovel Plus + Shield of Reflection + Burrow. (You will win on this first turn as long as he uses his Faerie Slingshot(strong hit) + Mootix Spear + fierce/berserk attack. If he doesn't use that, then just withdraw, heal and try again. Shield Of Reflection is once-per-battle and fragile, so it may break on the first time you use it. It is also kinda expensive if you have to keep replacing it since its almost 15k for one of them. I think I had to replace mine 4 times, and 2 of them broke the first use, but one of them didn't break for 3 uses. You just have to hope he uses the above mentioned weapons, and if he does, you win on the first move easy.)
Requirements: At least 95 or so hitpoints. Also need: Shovel Plus, Dual Battle Mirror, Potion of Concealment, and Burrow and Sink abilities.
The Fight:
1. Shovel Plus + Dual Battle Mirror + Burrow. (He MUST use: Faerie Slingshot(strong hit) + fierce/berserk attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again. Also, if he uses his Mootix Spear along with the Faerie SlingShot + fierce/berserk attack, then you will do considerably more damage, but its possible to win even if he doesn't use the Mootix Spear on the first turn. But he MUST use the Faerie Slingshot(strong hit) + fierce/berserk attack.)
2. Potion of Concealment + Shovel Plus + Sink. (As long as he uses Faerie SlingShot + fierce berserk attack again, and as long as he doesn't use his Mootix Armour(blocks ALL damage), then you should win.)
Kastraliss
How to get him: Search for 'kastraliss' in the Neopets search bar and refresh/reload the search results page until you get the challenger.
UPDATE: Fire Whip no longer changes your opponent's weapon, even though it still says that it does, but it actually doesn't.
Requirements: Need a lot of hitpoints for this guide (about 150 or so is good), also need: Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Double Dryer, Thick Smoke Bomb, Downsize!, and abilities Burrow, Sink, and Steam Shield.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow. (He MUST use his Sludge Bomb+Jade Scorchstone+Fierce/Berserk Attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Prickly Potion + Double Dryer + Sink. (He MUST use his Pirate Captains Cutlass and maybe + fierce/berserk attack. If he doesn't use the PCC, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
3. Downsize!(CLICK THIS FIRST!) + Double Dryer + Steam Shield. (He MUST use his Pirate Captains Cutlass and he must have less than 77 hitpoints at a maximum after this turn, and if he has less than 41 hitpoints, its a guaranteed win for you on the next turn.)
4. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + defend(you have no power left). (This can do up to 77 damage if he does berserk attack, or it can do 71 damage if he does fierce attack, or it can do 51 damage if he doesn't use any stance, or it can do 41 damage if he does defend.)
Slug Monster
How to get him: Have the item 'Slug Flakes' in your inventory and refresh here
Requirements: Just need Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Downsize!, Thick Smoke Bomb, Burrow and Sink abilities.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Sink. (he must use his Jade Scorchstone. He must also NOT use his Rancid Battle Dung because it gets all of its icons through Sink, which might end up killing you... So just withdraw heal and try again if he doesn't use his Jade Scorchstone and/or if he uses his Rancid Battle Dung on this first turn.)
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow.
3/4. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + species attack.
3/4. Downsize! + Prickly Potion + defend.
^You can do these last 2 turns in either order. (If he ever freezes you at any point during the battle, withdraw and heal and try again, UNLESS you want to hope you get lucky and he doesn't attack you at all, which miraculously happened to me a couple times...)
The Drenched
How to get them: Refresh at the Maraquan weather page here when it is raining with a blue Kacheek holding an umbrella.
UPDATE: Fire Whip no longer changes your opponent's weapon, even though it still says that it does, but it actually doesn't.
Requirements: Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Thick Smoke Bomb, Starlight Potion, and abilities Burrow, Sink, and Quench.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow. (They MUST use Water Muffin+Jade Scorchstone+Berserk attack. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Sink. (They MUST use berserk attack, which they do a lot. But if they don't, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
3. Starlight Potion + Prickly Potion + Quench(ON WEAK POWER!). (If they use their Sword of Apocalypse on this turn, this should block most of it, but if it hits for max physical icons, it could do about 100 damage, but its also possible that it hits for like 1 physical icon, which wouldn't do very much damage to you at all.)
4. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + species attack. (This should be a guaranteed win as long as they did Berserk attack the first 2 turns, and as long as you don't get killed on the 3rd turn.)
Qasalan Mummy
How to get him: Refresh a lot here
Requirements: I had just over 100 hitpoints when I beat him, but its possible to beat him with less hitpoints if you get lucky, or you might need more if you are unlucky. Also need Prickly Potion, Prickly Potion, Thick Smoke Bomb, and Burrow, Sink, Drain Life abilities.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow/Sink. (he MUST use his Jade Scorchstone. If not, then withdraw, heal, and try again.)
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow/Sink. (I recommend that you withdraw and heal and try again if you get low on hitpoints after this turn. Because the next turn you might take in some big damage.)
3. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Drain Life. (You might die a few times on this turn, but eventually you might survive it.)
4. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + defend(although you have no power left anyways).
Space Faerie
Requirements: You will need 2 Prickly Potion 's, a Thick Smoke Bomb, Steam Jug, Slippery Floor Potion, Downsize!(or a Winged Scarab instead of Downsize!, but Downsize! works too), and Burrow, Sink, Quench, and Steam Shield abilities.
The Fight:
1. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Quench(ON WEAK POWER!). She MUST use her Jade Scorchstone on this first turn, if not then withdraw, heal, and try again. She must also not do any fire icons(that way you can use Quench again later in the battle). She should also do either Fierce attack or Jump & Attack, so that you do a lot more damage to her. If you dont have a ton of hitpoints (like over 150), then you should withdraw until she only uses her Jade Scorchstone and fierce/jump & attack and NO attack weapons, so that you still have enough hitpoints for the rest of the battle. This turn is also pretty risky, but usually when she uses her Jade Scorchstone on the first turn, she doesn't attack with anything also, so it's not that horrible, but you might die a few times...
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Sink. (If she uses fierce attack or jump & attack, that will help A LOT, so you may want to withdraw, heal, and try again if she doesnt.)
3. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow. (Just hope that she doesn't do too many light/dark icons, since Burrow blocks almost everything except dark/light icons. And also it will help A LOT if she does fierce/jump & attack again, for extra damage.)
4. Prickly Potion + Steam Jug + Quench(ON WEAK POWER!). As long as you aren't dead, and she has under about 70 hitpoints at the most, you should win.)
5. Thick Smoke Bomb + Prickly Potion + species attack. (You might have won by now(especially if she did fierce attack or jump and attack on the first few turns), but if she still has like 20hp or so, continue to the next turn...)
6. Downsize!(or Winged Scarab) + Slippery Floor Potion + Steam Shield. (If you are almost dead though, this turn might not be enough to keep you alive, so you *may* want to use: Jade Elixir + Slippery Floor Potion + Steam Shield, and then do Prickly Potion + Downsize! + defend)
The Snowager
Requirements: About 80 hitpoints at least. Also need: U-Bend of Great Justice, Prickly Potion, Thick Smoke Bomb, 100% freezer, Smelly Dung Muffin, Smelly Dung Muffin, and abilities Burrow and Sink.
The Fight:
1. U-Bend of Great Justice + Prickly Potion + Sink. (He MUST use his Snowager Breath + fierce attack, and you should do about 350 damage to him if he doesn't block anything.)
2. Prickly Potion + Prickly Potion + Burrow. (He MUST use fierce/jump and attack. You should do about 230 damage to him if he fierce attacks and doesn't block anything.)
3. Thick Smoke Bomb + 100% freezer + species attack. (He should have low enough hitpoints left that you can kill him on the next turn (see G-chief guide #2 for max damage you can do at each strength boost with 2 muffins while he's frozen).
4. Smelly Dung Muffin + Smelly Dung Muffin + fierce/berserk attack.
