Welcome to my home. You wish to speak with the king, do you? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! He's long gone. Maybe if you look around you'll find something to assist you in finding him.

History

I was sent by a trusted comrade to search the seas beyond the Lone Islands, far to the East. The journey was considered a death sentence to those who didn't have the proper supplies and the proper hands on deck. Being a king, at the time, I had all I needed.

I had sailed for eight days on a boat that was falling apart and with a crew of thirty-three men. All were hungry, wet and sick. The storms tossed the boat like it was a feather in the wind. Fortunately, in the seventeenth hour of that eighth day, we found an island that was long thought to have disappeared into the ocean. How did we manage to spot it in the distance? Pure chance I would say. The rain came down in tons by the second and I honestly didn't think we were going to make it.

Upon arriving on shore, we were greeted by the islands inhabitants, a retired star, Ramandu, and his daughter. They were very hospitable and led us to a long table covered with delicious food and drink. We all enjoyed an evening filled with hearty laughter and satisfaction.

When I woke up the next morning I decided that we needed to return home for the sake of my men. They were uncomfortable in these uncharted lands and, although the star and his daughter were benevolent and helpful, starting to get restless. The island was rich with the supplies we needed for the trip back and the weather was remarkably better. In fact, in the six days it took us to get back, I can only recall one instance when the waves caused us to slow down.

Now, the length of the trip gave me a whole lot of time to think about why TheAvoided directed me on this futile exploration. He had assured me that he had looked through some old records and travel logs and found strong reason to believe that there was an island full of riches beyond Avra. The treasure was said to have been accumulated by kings of the past but was long forgotten after the official inventory books were lost.

It all seemed logical at the time but after thinking it over in my cabin on the ship I began to feel that it was nothing but a ploy to get me as far away as possible from my country. How could an island teeming with riches be forgotten so easily. How could it's existence be mentioned solely in the inventory books?

As soon as I set foot in my castle I demanded TheAvoided to be brought before me immediately but was informed by my servants that he hadn't visited the castle once since I left. I sent four men on horseback to his home. It was empty.

That evening, after taking care of some work that compiled while I was gone, I went to my chamber to sit down for a while and think. He was in there, I could smell him. To this day certain sights and sounds trigger that atrocious stench. He had been waiting for me, his red eyes glowing in the darkness behind my grand entrance doors. That sight alone had nearly caused my death.

I didn't have a moment to do or say anything because as soon as I saw him, he put a cloth around my mouth and nose that was saturated with a deep sleep concoction. It must have been extremely strong because here I am, one thousand years later, my skin barely hanging onto my bones. I can only assume that the potion had so powerful of an effect that my organs barely continued to work after I was exposed to it.

I don't know what happened to my country, my people. My poor people. I can't imagine the barbarity TheAvoided put them through. All I know was that he, once I was deemed incapable of ruling by my councilors, was the heir to the throne.

Now that you know all this get out of my face and let me rest a little! You want to know more? Why don't you ask that tyrant yourself.
