INTRO....
You wake up, the air around you is hot and heavy, you open your eyes against the glare of crimson and gold. Fire. You find yourself on a dry plain, fire surrounding you. There is no escape, you are in a lake of fire. Suddenly the flames part, revealing a slim mare with a pelt of ebony. She regards you with a disinterested stare of magenta and spreads massive wings, a little too large for her small but muscular frame. They are shaped like those of a bat's. They stretch towards the dark night sky and brings them down so fast, the gust of wind knocks you over. You hit your head on a rock and blank out.
When you awake the flames are gone, but the mare remains. Her back is turned towards you. You study her when she isn't looking. She is pitch black with crimson flames surrounding her fetlocks and the golden horn that bends slightly backwards. Her mane and tail are striped dark red and black, the golden tips are blowing about in the breeze. Her large wings are black with translucent webbing that is dark red in the inside but brightens to crimson when it nears the outer ridge. They too, have golden tips. A silver earring dangles from each wing, and two more dangle in her right ear. Her left foreleg is bandaged all the way up with a gauzy white cloth. Under each eye there are four white points and her eyes are lined in violet. She turns abruptly to you and glares. "It isn't polite to stare, especially when I just saved you!" She snorts and then you finally realize that the gust of wind must have knocked out the flames as well, for they no longer exist. She inclines her head and spreads her wings for flight. She shrinks into the night sky until she is only a small red light. You head home....

STORY....
Renakayn's mother Tranik, was a Black Guard, a member of the Element Covenant. Full of darkness and anger. Hecklin, Kayn's father was the lead in the Fire Guard, not quite a guardian of the flames but one of the few Guards to control it. He loved that ruthless mare and for a while it seemed as though she had developed feeling for the fiery stallion. Her moods could change in a second. One moment she'd be laughing with you, the next? You'd find yourself thrown into the Realm of Darkness. Well, Renakayn was born, being the offspring of two Guards it was tradition for both Hecklin and Tranik to fill the foal with their power. Tranik couldn't stand the thought of anyone, even her own daughter to be as powerful as her. She hated her own mate for that reason and was constantly off, sometimes for months at a time. Only a year after Renakayn was born her mother left, this time for good.

Or so they thought. Hecklin shoved his broken heart away and threw himself into raising and training his daughter. He taught her everything he knew, from fire starting to opening the realm of flames. Renakayn grew up without a mother, she barely had any memories. She dreamed of what her mother was like. She had asked her father one night as they lay out under the stars after a long day of training, he turned away, unable to answer. She never inquired again. Then after years of wondering she found out. Three decades had gown by (Guards have life spans are about 1000 years but they mature around their 30th year.) and her father had been acting strange for days, constantly scenting the winds. Then one day at sunset they heard a thundering sound, but no storms in sight.

A mare as black as night with garnet eyes and silver hair entwined with crimson and violet charged to them. Renakayn stood beside her father worried at his hardened gaze. His tail of fire flared angrily. Did he know this mare? The mare slid to a stop before them and snorted. She glared at Hecklin, garnet eyes flashing ebony. "Hecklin" She sneered as she spat his own name at him. Renakayn stamped a forehoof. Who was this monster? The mare turned on Renakayn. "Hello Warhna." She glared. Tranik moved forward teeth flashing. "Her name is Renakayn, Warhna is what you called her BEFORE you deserted her. She's already cursed with you as a mother, she doesn't need your cursed name for her as well." He stood protectively beside his daughter, his darling baby. The black mare sneered at Kayn's surprise. "What? Dear old Daddy never told you that your mommy left you? That she wasn't dead but couldn't stand either of you?" Kayn blinked back tears, this was the mother she'd longed for? The mare turned on Hecklin again. "I've come to take WARHNA to train her in the Black Guard ways." Renakayn had never seen her father attack a mare outside of training before. She rushed forward to help her father but a dark spell froze her in her tracks.

Suddenly five black stallions appeared in the sky and surrounded Hecklin. They stood in a perfect circle around him and dark mist swirled around them and pulsed into her father. Hecklin rose in the air, rearing in pain. He fell to the ground as the rest of the mist pulsed into him. Renakayn watched in horror. Tranik lead the stallions away into the sky. Before her mother vanished from the darkening sky Renakayn was sent a telepathic message. 'I will come back. You will need to know how to control your powers over darkness before the vanish. Do not try and evade me Warhna, you WILL learn my ways.' Renakayn felt the spell lift and rushed to her father. He opened his eyes as his daughter nudged his cheek. She could feel him weakening.

Renakayn lay beside her father as the golden glow of morning peaked over the mountains that bordered the plains. Her father was growing hotter and hotter by the second. He stirred and she helped him stand. He whispered in her ear. "Live your life prosperous, make me proud daughter." With that he burst into flames and so did the meadow. Renakayn couldn't tear herself away. She had thought that she was immune to all fire. But she wasn't immune to a Fire Guards flames. She tried to get to her father and stepped in the way of the spreading flames. The fire flew up her left foreleg. Severely burning it. She cried in pain and spread her leathery wings. She rose into the sky with one last look at the fire and flew away. A single tear fell into the flames and the fire disineggrated. Leaving a black spot where her father's death had taken place.

Renakayn flew for days in a state of numbness, unable to think or feel. She finally landed in a meadow in the center of a sun bathed forest. She fell to the ground in a bed of dry leaves and blacked out. Within the next five days she drifted in and out of conciousness, getting up once or twice to draw in water from the nearby stream. One morning she awoke to the smell of a sweet fleshed fruit. She opened her magenta eyes to see that someone or SOMETHING had set out three odd looking fruits. The flesh was red and gold and fuzzy. She had never seen such a fruit. Sniffing them carefully, she bit a chunk out of the first, the sweet orange pulp filling her mouth. Peaches? She pricked her ears forward and ate the remains of the first, leaving a brown nut-like pit and proceded to do the same with the others. She sniffed the air, she could smell the peaches' source not too far away and her stomach grumbled hungriliy, she hadn't eaten in over a week. She rose and let her nose lead her to the peaches. She stumbled into another clearing. There in the center was a large fruit tree. Peaches! Kayn rushed forward to snatch a fruit from the tree and gazed around as she chewed.
Well it's nice to see you're feeling hungry again." Laughed a kind voice full of wisdom. Renakayn turned, so startled that the peach fell from her jowls. Behind her stood a small boned mare, the color of snow and sunset. White and gold. The sun flashed off her silver horn that curved back more than her own of gold. Renakayn looked at the mare wearily. "I am Ora La Polva." The mare smiled. Renakayn noticed that the mare's milk white eyes stared off in the distance, totally unfocused. "Sorry but are you blind?" Renkayn asked. Ora nodded and smiled. But I won't go into the details, after all this is Renakayn's story not Ora's. Well Ora and Renakayn became close friends over the years but Renakayn never told her the story of her Father and Mother and Ora never pried. Renakayn and Ora are still friends but aren't always together. As we speak Renakayn is preparing herself for the day her Mother comes back to take her away. She hopes to make more friends as she only has three at the moment, Ora, a mysterious stallion named Storm, and Sinzeno...but there'll be more on that later....

:~*FAMILY*~:

Mother
I spit that name at you! I hate you with every fibre of my being. I am not your Warhna, nor will I ever be! I hope you perish by my own horn. You took my father away from me and I will never forgive you for the pain you have caused me. You are no mother of mine. You are merely an old monster set to destroy everything I have made for myself!

Father
Father, I miss you dearly. I promise you, I WILL avenge your murder. I have already seen to the demise of two of the five stallions. Don't worry I killed no-one. I merely stole theor power and sent them to live as a normal uni would. I save my strength to kill that hag I once called mother. You did not die in vain.

:~*FRIENDS*~:
(Few but Important...)

Ora
She and I met when I was flying mindlessly around after the death of my father. She is also the one who discovered my addiction to Peaches. She and I have been friends for years. She too seems to have an extended lifespan. She is a few years older than myself but is so wise. She is constantly telling me things about the stars and nature that you'd think no-one thought about. She and I are constantly racing and exploring. I am so happy for her that she has found a stallion to fully appreciate her unique ways. Though I think he's a little intimidated by me though...Then again. Who wouldn't be?

Storm
Storm is as protective as he is fast. We recently had a run in with Tranik...I still don't know how that will end, Tranik is so devious and tricky. I barely escaped our last meeting. I hope Storm can get out of this safely, I don't know what I'd do if he perished because of me. If only he'd left when I told him to...perhaps all would be better if I just went with Tranik....

Sin
I met Sin in the most unlikely place, the tundra. I guess it was only by chance that the winds blew me off course into the snow. We met in a little copse of trees, the poor fool got stuck in some vines and branches. He was a little cold and un-inviting at first but he's beginning to warm up to me. He caught me at a weaker moment but managed to pull me out of my funk and bring a smile to my face. Under those bare bones there is a good heart, he claims that I have only warmed him up. *sighs*
