introduction

The highlands, you discover, is a treacherous place indeed.

As your weary feet slip upon the gravel, your eyes are greeted with the sight of a humble looking place, very antique-looking.

You stumble closer in hopes of rest, and without warning, the double-doors slide open with a well-greased "shhh" as if they were asking you to hush as a figure stepped out primly onto the rock garden (or what could barely pass as a rock garden), eyes bright with curiousity.

Welcome, traveler. May you find peace and the answers you seek at Mirror Lake.

occupation

You are invited into his abode, and the wooden floors creak and bend, warped by moisture. The figure pads somewhat delicately across the area, and sits down, primly, yet again, near another set of ornate double-doors directly opposite from the entrance.

You must be weary, the lupe muses with some amusement. After all, not many people make it halfway up this dormant volcano...

He grins.

But then again, this is where I come in. I am the proud owner of this quaint shabby inn. But, a weary traveler looking for rest, is not usually the type of visitors I get.

I usually get fate-seekers and destiny-wishers and the insatiable curiosity-lovers.

He smooths out his fur with a paw, curious hair ornaments glittering with the dim lighting filtering through paper walls.

If you'll stay still, I'll go arrange accommodations for you.

With dainty steps, he vanishes into an adjacent room, the imposing double doors still untouched and foreboding.

fairy.tale

What could he have meant by....fate-seeker? Destiny-wisher? You look around curiously, and start to walk towards the door, only to stop and turn right back around. A door had been slid open, and you peer curiously into it.

It appears to be the innkeeper's room, very much worn in and homely.

Aside from the dried flowers hanging from the ceiling beams, there is something else that seems out of the ordinary: a worn book on an ink-splattered desk.

You walk over there and pick it up. It has no visible title or author, so you start flipping through it.

STORY

Without warning, an Airax swoops down and pecks viciously at your hand. In surprise, you drop the book, and a cloud of dust billows around the two of you.

It caws maliciously, glaring with a golden eye, and flies in slow, low circles overhead.

Raj appears in the doorway, apparently alerted by the avian petpet.

So I guess you found out about this place. You really are an insatiable curiosity-lover, aren't you?

about.me

Rajaon didn't look angry at all.

In fact, he looked distinctly pleased, preening slightly while bright yellow-green eyes observed you.

What? Am I that interesting? he mused, stretching slightly. Well, if you insist, I'll tell you about myself.

none, thanks

The pesky Airax that had frightened you earlier alights on Raj's paw and puffs out its chest importantly.

It preens with self importance and fixes you with an especially ornery eye.

Raj chuckles slightly, and looks at you again, eyes glittering with mirth.

So I see you've met Thorn. Must've been attracted by the volcanic heat. He's very helpful around here.Warns me of trespassers, you know.

Thorn smirked.

acquaintances

I've met quite a few interesting characters...

He looks around.

I'm pretty sure I had some portraits of th--ah, I remember, I have no companions to recall.

He smiles sheepishly.

[the walls are empty for now]

adoptables

Ah, also...if you stare at the lake for too long, you tend to shed the parts of you, you don't want (aside from bodies, because that is sort of creepy and I never like to drag corpses), such as your memories, or who you once were.

They are rather nifty spirits, they tend to manifest and follow you around. Would you like one? Of course, it'd still be a part of you. I'm especially good at weaving soul threads.

He smiles. Of course, I don't do this for just anyone. I like a little...bartering and trading.
