Note: I will be honest; I have not purchased the NC maps or towers at all, so I cannot guarantee everything I say will apply to the purchased maps and towers. This guide is more for those like me who do not have the means, money, or want to purchase the neocash items.
If you want an explanation of the basics, jellyneo has a great guide at
Hello everyone, and welcome to my guide :) Now, I know a lot of people are curious as of how to get that elusive perfect score for their shot at the trophy. It takes some skill and hard work, but it is very achievable.
How is this achieved?
1) The game HAS to be played in hard mode. If you have never played Neopets Battlefield Legends before, warm up on easy and medium until you are comfortable.
Hints and Tips Now, many people would like to try and find their own way of achieving a high score. For those of you wanting to work out their own strategy, here are some tips:• Try to keep your most powerful weapons within the middle area of the map. This way they will be of more useful against fliers. • Don't go too crazy with your equipment purchases. Leave money left over after each round (I recommend at least 60 coins). You never know when an attacker will pop up. • Spread your upgrades around evenly. One big mistake people make is they upgrade everything up front and leave the back of their path wide open. • Place catapults at corner spots. They are more effective there. • Wind the path around your obstacles on the map. They make things more interesting :D DO NOT FOCUS ON building the longest possible path. Build some of your path, and upgrade every few rounds as money allows. • As expensive as ranged towers are coin wise, they do not do that much damage. You shouldn't need more than two, and you definitely don't want to waste your coins on any more than four at most. They just aren't powerful enough to be worth your while. • Depending on your strategy, snow towers might come in handy. Try them out, and if you don't like them, don't use them. Still too much for you? Here is the basic layout for my strategy. You are free to tweek and play with it as you please. I will give you all of the basics.
For starters, I work to achieve and "S" shaped path, like this one shown here:

For those of you who really need it, I will explain, step by step, what to place where and when to upgrade. It's not a round by round guide. but it'll give you an idea of what to place and when. Keep in mind this is not the only way to reach a perfect score! In fact, there are several. This method uses the Meridell's Counterattack map, using Meridell. But it doesn't really matter which one you use as long as you follow the same general idea. The main difference is that the enemies come from different sides of the map. I always begin with two rapid fire towers at the entrance, placed like this: ![]() Your next tower will be another rapid fire tower(3). You should purchase this one as soon as you have the coins for it. After another round, you'll have enough coins for your first catapult(4). Save your coins for now, these should last you until round 6. At the end of round six, put up one more catapult(5) and on wooden tower(6). ![]() Be careful, because round 7 will always be your first attacker! ![]() Your assault will be more than enough for the other enemies. Just concentrate on the attacker. You should only need to do one upgrade before your catapult in range takes him out. Once he's down, purchase your first ranged tower and place it behind tower 5. It'll be needed for the fliers in the next round. ![]() Afterwards, as you build more money, keep building more towers. Start by closing off the route on the top. Then, add two more catapults as shown. You'll be covered for a few rounds, so just build up coins. Be prepared for another attacker around round 14. ![]() As I'm sure you've noticed, the monsters' HP is climbing quickly. Now is a good time to do some upgrades. By the end of Round 16 you should have all of the corner weapons upgraded to level 2. At some point before level 17 you'll want to add another ranged tower at the mid point under the second rock structure. ![]() You'll be fine until about the end of level 20. Lengthen the path by building another corner area in the southern middle section. Save some coins, because another attacker is coming up. Once the attacker is gone, add two more catapults and another rapid fire tower (can also be a catapult). ![]() ![]() KEEP UPGRADING! Once everything is level 2, It's going to get difficult from here on. You're on your own with the timing of how you do things, because what enemies come out becomes much less predictable compared to the beginning. Concentrate on doing upgrades. Middle area first, outer corners, and then the edges. Pay close attention to the enemies and how far along the path they get. If needed, add two more rapid fire towers to close off the bottom corner, and two last catapults. Once these are in place, you shouldn't need any more towers. Here is one of my own maps, on the last round, still with 100% health, all weapons upgraded except the ones on the end because they ended up not being needed :P ![]() So you're probably thinking, ok, you've proven your strategy for Meridell, but what about Darigan? Well, using the same strategy, just from the other side of the map, here is an image of one of my games. ![]()
Ok, so what about the trophy? This is the tricky part. The way that the high score works, is when you get your perfect score, you start down at spot 100. The person at the top then gets bumped off. Only the first 17 places qualify for the trophy :( Your score will also only post once a month. What you should do is try and submit a score at a time where you think your score is likely to be bumped into the #1 position around the time that trophies are handed out. This is very difficult to do, but don't give up! I haven't ;)
Pech2 has made a guide as well, this one for fighting as Darigan on the neocash map:
