Welcome to P.A.W.S.Hello to all Pet Rescuers and to those thinking about starting to save pets. We are a good hearted guild and our main focus is on saving pets from the pound and finding each one the owner it is meant to be with. Some may think that the only way to do this is to buy the Lab Ray (which is getting more expensive by the minute), but this is not true. Anybody can become a pet rescuer even if they don't have much time or neopoints.
Here you will find guild information and a few tips on how to save pets on your own time.
PawsTheMascot says, "Please enter! I hope you find a pet you love!".
The Adoption Agency is where the members of PAWS display their pets who are ready to go home to their new owners.

Adoption Agency
Our Adoption Agency isn't just for PAWS members. All are welcome. You may find the perfect pet for you.(Pet transfers are done when the owner and adopter agree on it.)
Rules Page

Please follow our simple rules.PAWS is not a strict group, but we do want to have some sense of order, total peace, and not too much clutter.

PAWS COUNCIL These are the people who run PAWS and make the guild what it is today. They share a desire to bring pet rescuers together into a fun and caring community.
(Most of the guild decisions are made by all of the active members, through voting on the guild poll.)

PAWS Leader Justpenny3 a.k.a Penny
HI! I'm Penny. I'm 45, mom of 7 and grandma of 11. My husband Bill helped me create the PAWS we know today on Oct. 23 2005. He is no longer into Neopets but we still carry on his mission to empty the pound of unwanted pets. Bill's username was Pensguy. We were Pensguy's Adoption Agency Supporters, PAAS for short. (That's when Rachel, wolfgangsmom joined.)
Then Bill quit playing, I took over and Rachel became my #2.
After that, we voted on a name change, my suggestion won.
That's how we became ...
PAWS~Pets Are Worth Saving.
   Mama PAWS Wolfgangsmom a.k.a Rachel
I joined P.A.W.S. a long time ago.
I pretty much did EVERYTHING back then. I made the layouts, ran the adoption agency, and made most of the advertising banners. Then Penny crowned me leader.
I led for a while, until I got warned by TNT due to the guild leader/donation shop glitch. This is why I'm so happy we've decided not to take donations anymore. They're just to much trouble.
After a while, my kid got bigger and demanded more of my time and attention. I stepped down from leadership and decided on a cozy number 3 slot for a while. Ahh, relaxing.
(A NOTE FROM PENNY: After much coaxing, begging and pleading, I convinced Rachel to take on the task of being my #2 once again. There she shall be for as long as she pleases, keeping me in line with the TNT rules:D)

PAWS Hostess
I joined PAWS in, as far as I can remember, sometime
between August - November 2007. Since then, I have tried to be active
and helpful to the guild as much as I could. (although Penny claims I
flamed some user long ago. I can't say I remember anything of the sort,
but I bet they deserved it! =P). So then, sometime in 2008, Penny gave
me #3
council spot, which caused me to become speechless for a week or so.
(Shame on you Penny!! -waves fist-) I hosted the Ranks and Rules page.
Then, sometime later, I semi-quit Neopets for a few months and on
coming back had lost my position in council. I applied again and, Penny
being most understanding, gave me the #3 spot again. Now I host the Ranks
and Rules page, the Dream Pets page & the Adoption Agency on my
petpages. It's a bit tiring, constantly getting all those "I LUV (Pet's
name) CAN I HAZ IT PLZ???11" mails when the pet doesn't even belong to
me, but I do love helping the guild as much as I can. I also love our
ad boards every now and then. Keep up the good work on our guild,
Penny!

PAWS Hostess
Butterfree765 a.k.a. Butter I joined PAWS back in 2008, after looking for an adoption agency to join. The pound had just reopened a month or so before, and I was zapping pets on my own to give to new owners, since I never used the ray on my permanent pets anymore. Being on my own was hard work, and I felt that being in a group would make things easier. After looking at several different guilds, I joined PAWS because I felt it was the friendliest, and most user-friendly, adoption agency I had seen. I was welcomed immediately, and have had a blast ever since! I have always been quick to welcome new members into the guild so Penny made me PAWS Hostess. I like to restock, and always have a good time on the ad boards with people from the guild.

Creative PAWS Florabell123 a.k.a. Billie Hi, I'm Billie. I love reading the Neopian Times. That's exactly how I found PAWS. I clicked randomly on a Neopian writer profile back in 2006. It's a good thing I did. It was Czenko28's profile. I scrolled through her profile and then I saw the name of her guild. The name was very creative, so I clicked on the link because I was curious. I joined the guild in a flash after knowing their cause. So here I am. I'm not very active due to a few issues. Umm, I used to host activities for the guild. Now I just help out in whatever I can. Well, enough about me. Have a nice day

How to Save Pets The Lab Ray
PawsTheMascot says, "Saving pets is fun!
The Lab Ray is the most commonly known way for people to save pets. Those that zap pets have purchased all of the pieces of the secret laboratory map. Zapping a pet changes anything about the pet except for his name. People that use the lab ray for saving pets zap the pet until they are something pretty or strong. After that, they are either released back into the pound, or the zapper searches for a loving owner.
At the moment, the lab ray costs a lot. People everywhere want to get their hands on one, so the prices are increasing. Other than the price of the lab ray, it is probably the most effective and easier than anything else.
P.A.W.S. has an adoption agency used for other members to browse and find the pet of their dreams. Most pets in the adoption agency have been zapped to a beautiful color, but not all of them. Any member of P.A.W.S. may put their pets up in the agency to advertise that they are looking for a new owner. There is also the option of just pounding the pet for a lucky owner to find. Many of the people at P.A.W.S. like to control who the pet goes to and will not abuse him.
Nursing to Health

Some pets are pounded for the very silly reason of being sick or weak. Being sick or weaker than the average pet might not be something that will win the attention of a Neopian browsing the pound.
Some rescuers pick the pets up and nurse them to a healthy state.
Places to take your abandoned pet:
It doesn't cost any money to nurse a pet back to top shape, and it's good knowing that once the pet is put back in the pound, he has a better chance of finding a loving owner.
Spreading the Word

Sure. You may know how awful the pound is, and you may know all of the horrible things that they have to go through, but do you let anybody else know that? Being pet rescuers, we have strong beliefs against pet abandonment and the pound. We try to help make the pound a better place and give every pet a loving owner. Should all of the pet rescuing beliefs be contained within the guild?
A very effective way of rescuing pets is expressing how bad the pound is to the world and get other people on your side. Convince people that a good name, a good color, or a good species isn't what makes a good pet. It is what's in the heart. With that, any pet can be created into something amazing. The pound is not a shortcut to getting an expensive pet or the simple solution to being able to adopt another. It is a torture chamber for those not wanted with the potential to be something much more.
If done correctly, expressing opinions of the pound can be a very effective way to save pets, but it's not one of the easiest.
To get the biggest audience in Neopia, a pet rescuer can get an article or story into the Neopian Times that expresses their beliefs. With some editing and convincing words, people all over can see your views and be convinced to view the pound in a whole new light.
Some Good Examples:
Training

Taking a weak pet and bringing their strength up might attract more people. Rescuers can gather codestones and maybe go to Coltzan's shrine regularly. Then with a little bit of training, the abandoned pet's stats would be up and they would appear even cooler than before. When the abandoned pet is put back into the pound, they would have more of a chance of finding an owner faster. No pet wants to stay in the pound any longer than they have to.
