Pam's Room

Hello. I don't have visitors often. Welcome to my humble hideaway. Have a seat. Maybe we can talk for a while.
Careful. Watch the papers. I'm saving those.
You should probably tell me your name. I shouldn't talk to strangers.
zinzi13? Okay.
My name is pamela289, but call me Pam. I should probably tell you more about myself.

INFORMATION

I am a Gelert, and I'm proud. As the default homepage will tell you, we Gelerts got our name from a certain creature named "Gelert", who died for his owner. You can read the story here. It's a rather tragic story.
Like Most Gelerts, I enjoy some agile activities with my Mother/Owner, who, on occasion, does enjoy playing with me. I am forever loyal to her--and the rest of my family, I guess--and I am lucky to have been raised with such kindness...and eccentricities. To be honest, Mother does have a few weird interests, but that's okay with me, considering that I share most of them.

I am fascinated by the stars, the cosmos, outer space. It's inexplicable. Maybe it's because space is so mysterious. Maybe it's because its to beautiful and peaceful. Maybe it's all those endless possibilities, all those planets, all those other beings, and perhaps even the souls of the stars themselves. I love to watch the sky at night, see the stars moving. There have been times when I would be stargazing, and fall asleep in the backyard.

One of my favorite places to go is Kreludor. What can I say? When you're on a heavenly body that has only roughly 30% of Neopia's gravity, you can't help but take advantage of it while you can. *boing* And it's just as mysterious up close as it is from far away. There are so many closed-off areas, regions left untraveled, secrets left unsaid. It's intimidating. And wonderful.

Oh. Poetry. I love it. It's like another language. A better language. Sometimes I take a break to look at the many works of poetry and wordplay in the Art Centre, where they are displayed in the Poetry gallery and the storytelling competition. I do enjoy a good story.

I myself am a bit of a poet, although I have yet to perfect my art and talent. I also enjoy painting sometimes, and reclining in my favorite tree in the front yard, and just lying back, dreaming away. It's impractical, but that doesn't bother me. Not really.

Another hobby of mine is fortune telling and tarot cards. I'm not a fortune teller myself, but I find it so mysterious and...um...beguiling. Right, that's the word. I like to play with these cards, and I have even managed to introduce my sisters to them. Of course, they were rather skeptical. But they seemed to like what the cards said--they promised grand fame and adventure. Rather predictable, and fantastical. But if it makes them happy (and keeps them from mocking me), I'm alright with it.
At least they'll at least try out the tarot cards. My sisters still won't go near the Ouija Board. Oh, well.

But my favorite thing to do is write. In my Diary. It's a good way for me to clear my head. Remember the things I think about.
And no, zinzi13, I can't let you read it. A girl must have her priorities.

I don't have a lot of friends outside home, but it's better that way. W It's much more peaceful and quiet, and I can actually hear myself think, rather than have other people intrude into my thoughts. I don't mind company. I have people I care about. And I like having visitors, people to talk to, like you, zinzi13. But I just feel best when I have some time to myself. Alone.

But I do get lonely.

I'm not always alone by choice, but by default. I have a hard time making friends. My family is recognized as eccentrics, but I'm the one referred to as the "Weird Sister". I have even overheard one of my older neighbors say that she thought I'd grow up into a "kook".
Apparently she doesn't know what a real kook looks like.
But it still hurts. Sometimes.
I tried to make friends, a few times, but I gave up on my peers a long time ago. They are shallow, inane, and stupid. A waste of my time. And so I'm content to keep my own company, or be acquaintances with the member of my family.

I think now would be the appropriate time to talk about my often-mentioned family.

Perdita
Perdie is the eldest of my three sisters, but doesn't always act like it. Although she takes on the bossiness appropriate to an elder sibling, she lacks the responsibility to have such credibility. She's very restless and impulsive, and wants an exciting life. She can do foolish things sometimes, and can get on my nerves with her impatience, but I do like her. There are still days when we read stories together, before bed. I'll always appreciate that, dear eldest sister.

Lory
Lorina is my second sister. She is more mature than Perdita, but, unfortunately, she is too lazy to take on the duties of a responsible sister. She spends a lot of time outside, picking flowers, watching butterflies. I admire her appreciation of nature, but I detest her shallowness. She's usually the one who mocks me for being the "weird" sister. But that's alright, because she's rather heavy set. I call her "fat". After all, I am the little sister. It's my duty to make her life harder. But other times, we get along rather well, as she never disturbs my peace.

Dawn
Finally, the baby of the family, literally. Dawn is the youngest of my sisters, and the whole household, with behavior to match. She ranges from being a minor amusement to a downright nuisance. She has so much energy. It's baffling. She always wants somebody to play with her, and sometimes that duty falls upon me. It can be annoying, because she's always calling me "boring". But other times, it can be therapeutic to play with Usuki dolls, hide and seek, and race. Even though she usually wins. And when she doesn't, she throws a tantrum. Little sisters.

Kett
Ah, yes, someone I have no qualms about introducing. Kett was brought into our family a while ago. I'm glad that he is part of our home. Although not quite a competent housekeeper or good with schedules, his male presence is a breath of fresh air in our female-dominated home. He's quite entertaining, as he likes attention a bit too much. But that's fine with me, because he considers me part of his adoring audience. He sometimes drives my older sisters crazy, and that pleases me.

Terra
The most useful person in the house. Terra is our handywoman. She's quite intelligent, near brilliant, I would say, but somewhat eccentric. (A case f the pot calling the kettle black, I know...) She's very good with her hands, and can fix anything in the house. She was born in Tyrannia, but was unsatisfied with the poor "technology" there and studied invention and mechanics in Moltara. We found her in Tyrannia, and has become part of our humble abode. She seems to like me, but thinks I should try being more practical. And that is bothersome at times.

Diamond
The circus girl. We met her when we saw her performing in a traveling circus from Shenkuu. She was the trapeze artist. She's Lory's best friend, but she rather likes me. I highly respect her for what she does, but I find it rather frightening to watch her. I'm always worried that she'll fall and break something, or worse. But she assures me that Wockies always land on their feet, that there's nothing to worry about. I wonder...

Kabuki
Kabuki is another new addition to the house. She's very mysterious, doesn't talk about herself much, keeps mostly to herself. She's from the Haunted Woods, which I find intriguing. She can be cold and distant, and even a little scary, but she does like us, and makes an effort to help around the house. She does like me, which I find relieving, and always gives me plenty of space, because she knows I'd do the same for her.

Alex
Alex is...oh, my. He's a teenager that acts like a kindergardener. It's like having a little brother who is much bigger than you. He's very immature and is always goofing off, acting silly and foolish. He can be a nuisance, but he's so innocent about it that I can't help but care about him. He brings some comedy to out house, which is nice, and he likes to play jokes. I don't always appreciate it when the jokes are on me, but it's only fair, because he does it to everyone. Well, everyone except Kabuki. I don't blame him.

Bella
As of late, I now share a house with this lady. She's so exotic and glamourous. She originally came from a colony of the Terror Mountain Bori tribe, in the Ice Caves, where we met her while exploring. She, out of all of us, has the initiative to take care of our house, making sure everything is nice and presentable. Sometimes I feel as though I'm living in a Terror Mountain B&B rather than a suburban house on Chia Close, but that is rather pleasant. I get along with her, but she can be so dry, orderly, and snobbish, traditional. She criticizes me for being too caught up in my fantasy world, but at other times she compliments my "proper" manners.

Hype
Hype is a rather unusual girl. She's like the fun and wacky older sister I never had. She believes in being proud of one's strangeness, which is only appropriate, as she is a mutant. She also likes frightening the neighbors, which makes me happy. Ever since she came to the house, the neighbors don't make too many comments about me anymore. She came from the Virtupets Space Station, and actually witnessed Sloth's second invasion. She doesn't like to talk about that, much. She's somewhat of a smart-aleck, and can be rather rough and coarse around the edges, but she's always kind.

Rei
Rei is a wonderful addition to our now crowded house. I have never met anyone so gentle. He's a really sweet boy, but very, very quiet, very shy. He's a musician, and plays guitar, sings, writes songs. I once allowed him to adapt one of my short verses to music, to which he was grateful. He's a Maraquan, and rather shaky. He can be moody, at times, and unpredictable. He has a few psychological obstacles to overcome, which is tragic, but he manages rather well.

Well, it was nice being able to talk with you, zinzi13. Perhaps you may come back again.

GOODBYE
