Basic Guide To
PetPet Rescue

Introduction

This guide is mainly designed to help those seeking the Petpet Rescue Avatar, to achieve it. I myself have gotten the avatar by the explanations in this guide. I hope it will help you too.

The Game

In petpet rescue, you play a scorchio named Samuel. Your job is to rescue the pets trapped in the mines underground. You will encounter such petpets as Anubises, Babaas, Unioctos, Mallards, Poppits, Snorkle, Puppyblews, Hasees and a few others...

Game Play

The Controls and Objective

In the game you use the Up, Down, Left, and Right arrow keys to guide Samuel across the cave to save the pets. You start off at the exit point in the mining shaft. You have to bring the pets back to this door in order for it to be a successful rescue. You pick up pets by approaching the pet with Samuel, he will automatically pick up the pet when you are close enough. You have three visible lives, and one last life (after all life icons are gone) to rescue the pets required to pass to the next level. You will be told in the beginning of each level, how many pets you need to rescue, in an alert, in the game, at the top of the screen. You get 99 seconds to rescue all the pets necessary per round. The image to the left shows An example of the game play screen. Here is a breakdown of things you'll encounter.

Things to Avoid

Any of the following, are things to avoid, and will result in losing a life.

Lava
Falling in the lava will also eat up one of your lives. If you walk to far out, on one of the mining carts, you will fall into the lava.

Stalactite
You will want to avoid the stalactite spikes at all costs! These fall from the top of the screen at random. When a spike is ready to fall it will shake back and forth. They don't always fall right away. Sometimes they will shake for a couple minutes before actually falling. Be sure to watch for shaking spikes when trying to save pets.

Boulders
These boulder roll across the screen in different directions. If you get close enough to one, you will lose a life.

Other Items

The following are other items you will run into during gameplay.

The Boats
These carts allow you to cross over the lava. They come in different shapes and go different speeds. Bewar fast moving carts. If they carry you off screen, you will lose a life.

The Gems
These award you extra points. They are located throughout the levels. however, you can only fin them on the blue solid ground, and not on lava or the mining carts.

The Door
You will need to bring pets here, in order for you collect the points/pets needed to pass to the next level. Once the pet disappears from your hand, it has safely passed and your score will have raised.

How to Get Points

Here's the point breakdown.

The Pets
Each Rescued pet earns you 10 points. There are pets located all over each level. Regardless of where the pet is Located, you will still only earn 10 points per rescue.

The Gems
The Gems located throughout the levels earn you extra points.

Purple gems award 5 points each
Blue gems award you 10 points.
Green gems award you 15 points.
Red gems award you 20 points.

I myself have only gotten to level 3. The red gem credit goes to sum41gurl13410 who currently has one of the highest scores in the game.

End Round Bonus

You will earn 25 bonus points at the end of each round.

Kitten's Personal Tips

Now that we have the basics established. Here are a list of my personal tips for achieving the avatar, or even possibly a high score.

The Sections

Each round has more than one section. So when you first start be aware that there are parts beyond the first set of tracks. For example in level one, there are "three" separate sections beyond what you can see at the starting point. Here are some screen shots of the three sections of the first round..Starting with the very top of the tunnel, and ending with the entrance.

Note: Keep in mind the row of spikes stays at the top of the screen when you move forward. The spikes are always there. During higher levels the spikes will begin to fall more and more frequently. So you may get three spikes fall in the first round, but in the second round there might be 6, and in the 3rd 12. They will also begin to shake in bunches. Meaning you might have 4 spikes in a row, in one section, shaking to fall….so MOVE QUICKLY!

The Gems

I normally know when I want to play a game by the very first level. If you look to the first large blue section (not the thin blue strip), you will notice that you can see gems. If during game play there aren't at least 4 purple gems in that section, restart until you get the 4 gems. Remember the gems add point. The amount of gems in that section are random. You might get 4 and you might only get two. If you want to make it to 250 easily, Don't play a game unless there are four gems in the first level.

The Mining Carts

Mining carts move at different speeds and in different directions, and can become quite tricky. Some mining carts move very quickly, others move slowly. They also cross directions. Some go left, and some go right, so pay attention. The spacing between carts also changes as the levels progress. Some tracks might have a cart every two seconds, others might not have one but every 5 seconds. So know the track BEFORE you cross them. Time them out.

Also, don't stay on fast moving carts for too long. If you do, and it carries you to the end of the screen, you will lose a life and have to start from the beginning!

Boulders and Spikes

In each level that I have gotten to I have found that the boulders have patterns. The spaces between them to cross can be timed out and planned. So with boulders, learn when to cross them. Once you learn their direction the rest can be easy. You will find in high levels simply waiting for a straight open path will do you no good. You will have to walk along the path of the boulders, like a maze, in order to get to the openings you need to cross. Crossing them will require a little bit of practice, but once you learn the pattern you'll be on your way!

With Spikes, not all of them fall at the same time. The green and dark brown spikes tend to take longer to fall than the gray ones. Don't let that fool you though! Sometimes they will surprise you and fall quite quickly!

Running between the boulders and spikes causes many life drains! So keep an eye on the spikes. If none are shaking above you, move quickly to find spaces between boulders, and across the carts to avoid being struck down by a falling spike!

Saving pets

In the first level save all of the pets closest to you. Don't worry about going all the way to the top to save a pet. I have not found any special rewards myself for saving pets further in the mine. So just don't waste your time. In the first level, rescue three pets quickly and use the last save to collect the gems of the level and bring the pet home. This method works best for me.

In later levels, try and go for the hardest pets first. Meaning if you need to rescue 6 pets, try and go for the 6th pet located farthest from you. So that way if you loose a life you have a shorter distance to travel when you go to get the next pet. This is best however, only if you are going for a high score. If you want just the avatar. Go for the closests ones first.

You can also ONLY collect ONE pet at a time. You can cross carts already carrying pets, but you will not be able to pick them up.

My Personal Method To Getting The Avatar

In addition to the tips I listed above, my own personal method to gaining the avatar. What worked for me was to make sure I had all of my lives but the end of round one. This is so in round two I could easily give up one life to save the 6 pets needed to pass to round three. I did this because I found I couldn't save 6 pets on a single life, but I am sure it is possible to do. By time you pass the 2nd level, you should be anywhere form around 185 to about 200 points. Now all you have to do is save about two pets, and collect the gems in he level. Make sure if you are on one life, you go for the gems first. This will give you a better chance of closing out with the 250 required to get the avatar.

All of this information is based mainly on the rounds I have gotten through (1-3), and are not guaranteed to be accurate for further rounds. This guide is mainly an aid to getting the avatar. I hope it has provided some help to you. Good Luck!
