~:The Child-Stranger:~

A ring of thick rain fell in clumps, hitting the muddy ground harder than the rain that was falling streight from the sky in gaps in the canopy of the dark, wet forest. You were glad to be rid of the collecting drops of water that had collected on your shoulders, but you knew that wouldn't last long if this drizzle continued. Wondering when it'd end as you wandered through the forest, you looked up, blinking away raindrops as they splashed onto your face, one of them having landed near your right tear-duct. The soft, gray clouds were shifting in the wind which the trees around you helped shield you from and the rain continued. It didn't seem like it was going to get worse. In fact, it seemed like the clouds would clear in an hour or so. Luckily for you, it was a full moon that night so there was more light than usual and it was reflecting off the water, even from behind the clouds. Truthfully, it was only partly covered. As you continued on your way through the woods, the drizzle had softened to a light sprinkle with the occasonal drop of collected water.

It was rather peaceful for a while, but the sprinkle continued and there was the sound of movement, like a soft shifting, not too far off. Curious, yet controled and careful, you crept towards the unusual sound. Parting a few tall shrubs, you spied a rock in the mossy, soggy earth in a glade and on the rock sat a young, female, blue Korbat. She was haunched over, her head in her hands and her eyes closed, but her ears fully alert. She was very still, so you wondered if she was asleep, but she was so young that her parents must've be worried about her being alone in the forest. So, you walked over and as your foot squished into the soggy moss, the girl sprung up and stared at you with wide, stunning blue eyes. For a moment you stand there, looking in awe at her shimmering, beautiful eyes. Your moment's hesitation caused you to miss your chance as the girl wheiled around and dashed off, out of the clearing.

Wait! I just want to help!" you called as you chased after her. You skitted to a stop as she stopped running in an abrupt halt. Slowly, the Korbat girl turned her face so that her eyes captivated you again, but as you looked, you realized that it wasn't fear that was shining in them, but sorrow. Yes, her eyes were the saddest ones you'd ever seen and you weren't sure if it was just acumulated rain or not, but a drop of water ran from one of her eyes and down her sheek until finally hitting the soaked ground. For another moment, the two of you stood there as the sprinkle continued. You seemed to have her attention now.

Who are you? Are you lost?" you asked, motioning with your arms in a jesture to show that you didn't mean her any harm.

The young Korbat opened her mouth to reply, shut it again and hesitated before replying, "I am not lost. You don't need to be here. I live here, don't worry."

The Korbat gave you a smile, but her eyes seemed even sadder than before and it seemed very hard for the Korbat to continue her carefree grin, the corners of her mouth spasming and her chin quivering slightly.

You live here? What's wrong? You look like your about to burst into tears!" you asked in reply as worry gripped you.

Yes, I live here. Nothing's wrong, I was...on my way..." the Korbat couldn't get the last word out and tears welled up in her eyes as her smile failed and she tried to hold back her crying, but a few gasps and wimpers escaped her mouth and tears began to fall down her cheeks, "I'm...fine.."

The girl's voice cracked and she began sobbing. The Korbat turned, trying to regain her composure.

What's wrong? You're obviously not okay," you asked as your voice softened significantly, as did your face. When she didn't reply, you took it as an invitation to go to her and once close enough, you set your hand on her shoulder, which stilled her bobbing shoulders and quieted her wimpers, but her eyes were wet and shining when she looked up at you again. The girl seemed confused as she sniffled, "You...care?"

You nodded and replied, "Of course I care! What's wrong?"

The Korbat paused for a moment before saying, "My name is Nikterida.

~:Tragic Poison:~

As it is in all stories, this story has a begining. However, this begining is tragic, but not for the reader, for how could you possibly know the Korbat that died that day? She is a stranger to you, just like she is a stranger to many, including her own family. Her husband watched her die, yet he never speaks of her, nor does he act like she ever exsisted. She died giving birth to their daughter, who lived. The father took responsability for the small child, knowing that she was the last peice of his wife that he had...but as the child grew, she was more and more like the Korbat he had loved and so, he sent his daughter away without telling her why. He had always been hard, but the shocked girl had never expected something so harsh. It took a moment before he had to shout at her and throw a nearby chair at her before she ran away. She ran and ran until she collapsed in tears, crying loudly in abandonment and being severely unloved. Though the chair had not hit her, the blow of her father dispising her so much had shot a great spear of ice into her. She was the one who lived at the begining...and died for the rest of her life. Many times has the Korbat girl tried to come home to her father and begged him to take her back, but every time, instead of any sign of welcome, he just glared at her with cold eyes and a plastered frown of disaproval, then turned and closed the door behind him. The girl keeps trying, but still gets turned down. Whenever she's not begging for a smile or nod, the girl lives inside Mossrain Forest, though the cabin where her father lives is towards the edge of the very forest.

Thank you for coming. Please visit again. Here, you can take one of these with you," Nik said as she offered a patch and a button.

After making your choice to take the patch, button or neither, you left, waving goodbye to the young Korbat. All the while, it hadn't stopped sprinkling. Perhaps that was why it was called Mossrain Forest. Maybe it never stopped raining. Maybe, someday, it would.
