What's a 'n00b?' Am I a 'n00b?
Personally, I hate the word 'n00b.' It's a derogatory word used to describe a person that is annoying or otherwise distruptive to the Boards. There are those that use it a lot ... and I mean a LOT ... without provication. If you are New to NeoPets, you are a 'Newb' or a 'Newbie.' You are NOT a 'n00b.' Well, unless you do one of the following:
Begging for ANYTHING = n00b
Making Off Topic Boards = n00b
Spamming = n00b

What's Spam?
Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages.
Anything that is distruptive to the flow of the boards is considered Spam. Traditionally, it's the same post over and over and over and ... you get the idea. However, on NeoBoards, it's anything that is off topic or pointless.
How do I make a Screen Shot ('Screenie')?
Alt † PrintScreen - Open Photo or Art program (IE: PhotoShop, MSPaint, PaintShop, etc.)- File - New - Edit - Paste - CROP IT (looks like two v's hugging sideways) - Save As ... - .jpg or .png (NEVER .bmp) - Get an online image host, like PhotoBucket.com - Upload your files into your new FTP - Go to Pet Central - Click on the Blue Lupe - Edit under the Pet of choice for the page - Place your tags - need help with those? Go to CSSHelp (the Kougra) - Well .. that's about as much as I can tell you.
My Pet's 'dying!' What do I do???
Relax, NeoPets don't die. Feed it. If you're broke, go to the Soup Faerie. If you have over 3k use the Auction Genie put all your points into Secret Lab Maps, 5k-10k each. When you lose the auction, you get your money back. If you win you can sell lab maps for 45k. - Credited to titansjax
Or you could just do what I do and stick your Pets in the Neolodge for 28 days at a time. Use the cheapest hotel and don't do the "add ons." Your Pets will be thrilled and well cared for. You can still do everything you'd normally do with your Pets. You just don't have to worry about feeding them ... and any food you do get, you can sell for NP.

Whoa up there, partner. Just go to the Healing Springs every half an hour until cured. It might take some time, but don't worry. Your Pet will be fine.
Words of Advice: Always use the Shop Wizard to get the lowest prices ... the first search isn't always the lowest price. Search, go back to Wiz, enter the lowest price you saw in the Max price box and Search again ... a few times (I try at least four).
What does _____ mean?
png = omg = Oh my gosh (yeah, I know .. shh, no religion, remember?)
pwn = own; as in to rule over a person or thing
1337 = leet = elite; the best
j00 = you
HTS = Hard to Sell; most people don't want these
ETS = Easy to Sell; everybody wants these
UB = Unbuyable; usually not on the market
AC = Avatar Chat; BDC = BattleDome Chat; EMS = Evil Things & Monster Sightings Chat; BC = Beauty Contest; etc.
FQD = Faerie Queen Doll; expensive item (1.6 Million NP)
MSPP = Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie (TCG); another really expensive item (30-50 Million NP)
SuAP = Super Attack Pea; yeah, expensive
BGC = Bony Grarrl Club; noticing a trend? Expensive
H4K = H4000 Helmet; again ... expensive
HP = Honey Potion; Cheap? Yeah, right ... Expensive
TP = Trading Post; Price in Trading Post
MP = My Price; What the person is willing to take

How do I change my Avatar?
Go Here: Chat Preferences and use the pull down menu. Don't forget to click Submit or hit Enter after chosing.

People talk about 'Default' Avatars, what are they?
Technically, the Default Avatar is the Yellow one with the NeoPets star on it; however, around NeoPets it means any Avatar you received with your account ... one that is available to everybody.
How do I get/do/find Insert Hot New Item/Avatar/Trick/Page Here?
Usually, if it's something new (like a new Avatar), I check the Boards first. Read the Index BEFORE you make a New Topic. If you find the same question, go into the String. Read the string BEFORE asking within it. Odds are good somebody else asking the same question has already has an answer in the string.
If it's an older question (like a couple of days, or even the next day after the 'event'), check the Help Sites (some links below). Most of the WebMasters and Mistresses keep on their toes.
