Welcome to University.!

Welcome to University.! You have filled out our application and proven yourself worth of joining our comforting family! At University., your dreams will be recognized, and your hopes will be proven a reality all because you are our member. We're not just friends, we're family!

Since you are a new member, you will not be able to participate in Dorm Activities for another two weeks. During this time, your job is to familiarize yourself with our other members. This two week period is how long you will be in New-Ops. When we say that New-Ops is two weeks long, we do not mean that you may join, introduce yourself, and come back in 14 days. You must stay active during this time to show us that you are committed to University. New-Ops helps you get to know the other members in the guild, and it helps us put you through the books. There is nothing worse," in the words of Kiwi, "than to work hard on pleasing a member and, after an hour, they leave the guild 5,000 neopoints+ richer from cashing in on our guild while you feel dumbstruck like you were just robbed by a hit and run." Dedicated members stick around while n00bs just disappear. :)

After you have remained active, gained some friends, and have been in the guild for two full weeks, you will have completed New-Ops! Upon your graduation from New-Ops, your Veteran Buddy who has been with you since your first "Hello" will have the honors of welcoming you to the guild website by providing you the hidden link. You also, once you have around 80+ posts, be moved up in rank! The entire guild will then be open to you~

Introducing Yourself

Because we understand how eager you are to get to know the guild and aren't likely to wait for you and your Veteran Buddy to be on Neopets simultaneously, you are free to introduce yourself to the guild alone! Your Veteran Buddy will make a secondary introduction when they next log on to Neopets.

This is not a requirement for you, but it is generally preferred by all that, at this time, you place your name or nickname somewhere in your avatar signature. This way, we can avoid confusion and have to embarrassingly resort to calling each other by our usernames.

Here are some custom University. guild fonts, exclusively made for University. member use only (thank you SunnyNeo for colors!):

When introducing yourself to the guild, we suggest that you go more indepth than the traditional "Hi, I'm guest. I'm in New-Ops and in dorm ___.
Why not include some of the activites you do in Real Life or Neopets? Why not talk about your major and your goals? Info like this makes great conversation openers and helps members get to know you. :)

To make introducing yourself more fun, you can play the New-Ops games TAG and the NAME GAME.

Games

TAG
How to play-
After you have created your Dorm Page with your roomate(s), make a note of what you both(all) like. These Dorm Pages are meant for you to learn more about the members around you!
To play TAG, you must go to our member Dorm Page directory. Here, you search through other Dorm Pages.
You "TAG" someone when you see a member who likes the same thing(s) that you wrote down.
You neomail the member (that specific member - not all of the roomates, unless they have something in common with you as well) under the subject "TAG, you're it!" and include everything in that one neomail that you two have in common. At this point, it's a good idea to talk or say something intellegent about what you two like. Just putting "TAG - Blue" isn't a very good way to leave a first impression and isn't what this game is about! Say something more like, "TAG - Favorite Color: Blue! You know what's funny? Blue wasn't always my favorite color. Kindgergarten through fourth grade it was green and orange, fifth it was purple, sixth it was yellow, seventh I liked red, and then eighth to the present I've liked blue! I've liked almost every color of the rainbow at least once, haha." The second message leaves a more friendly appearance, wouldn't you say? (:

You don't have to search through the entire guild directory, but you should at least try to find atleast five other people that you have something in common with. After you are finished playing TAG, neomail your Veteran Buddy the number of Dorm Pages you viewed and the number of people you tagged. You might get something for your hard work in return~ ^^

NAME GAME
How to play-
When you decide to introduce yourself, think of the letters of your name. Then in your next post (because hopefully your first post was pretty long for going on about what you do in your spare time, etc., right? -wink-) put in CAPS at the top: NAME GAME.
Underneath that, come up with the things you like or hobbies, etc. with the letters of your name.

For example:
NAME GAME
KIWI

Kicking doors shut for some privacy.
Itching for a summer job.
Waking up in the late afternoon.
Getting Ink all over my hands from my pens.

Of course, now the people around you are encouraged to join in your NAME GAME fun (because this isn't a one player game!). This way, not only will you remember names better, but you're given conversation as well!
You are welcome to play the NAME GAME however many times you like, but they must be spaced out at different times with different people.

New-Ops Buddy Program

University.'s New-Ops Buddy Program is one of the most exciting things special to new members. Your Veteran Buddy is assigned to you once you are accepted into the guild. He/She may not be in your dorm, but he/she will most likely be a History major and, therefore, able to tell you everything wonderful about the guild anyway. Your Veteran Buddy will be your first friend in the guild.

Veteran Buddies are your allies in your settling into the guild. They'll tell you what you'll be able to participate in after you complete New-Ops, what your dorm offers, how to get points toward your dorm status without being a Space Cadet yet, etc.

One of the activities that you complete with your Veteran Buddy is advertising! When you advertise with your Veteran Buddy, you learn what it means to advertise with "care and consideration." Plus, during this time, you bond. Just sit back, relax, and learn from your Veteran Buddy more about the personality and laid back atmosphere of University.

Most of your New-Ops time will involve just communicating with your Veteran Buddy, playing games, solving riddles, etc. The time will fly by you~

Lunch Bag Day

Lunch Bag Day is special to your Veteran Buddy and you. At the end of your first week in the guild, the half-way point to your Space Cadet freedom is Lunch Bag Day! This day symbolizes how proud your Veteran Buddy is of you for your activity and friendship in the guild.

How Lunch Bag Day works- You and your Veteran Buddy are set a spending limit of around 2,000 Neopoints. With this 2,000 Neopoints, you go and buy food! This food is the "Lunch Bag" you give to your Veteran Buddy, and in return, you get a surprise "Lunch Bag"!
After you two share your lunch, feed it to your pet~
