| Plot Type " Explainations
|
Interactive
This is considered the " New " format for Plots / Events as of 2005. Before 2005 this involved doing a specific task to cause the events in the story to progress (like adopting the Grundos in The Virtupets Plot). Starting with
Lost Desert
Plot the format was changed so a user had to complete a series of " steps " to accumulate points. There may or may not be a Battledome Section of the Plot (which is completely optional). As of The Return of Doctor Sloth it
is
required to complete at least one step in the Plot to be credited for the Battledome Section if you decide you don't want to do the Plot. Since the first few steps are typically easy you should make an attempt to complete the Plot,
anyway.
Story
This is an old format that is not used anymore. Generally a story that effects the entire site is told in the New News or on a specific page in which the user cannot participate in. Though there is no user activity in these Plots / Events
they are still
listed in the archives because some are relevant to Neopian History (like the destruction of Maraqua).
Choose the Winner
Also known as a " Staff Tournament " or " Staff Event ". These Events involve members or former members of The Neopets Team (TNT) doing various things from playing a specific game to a survival type event. Typically
users will be able
to guess which Staff Member will be the winner of the event before the event begins.
Full War (One or Two Sided)
This is a format that is arguably retired. Depending on whether the war is one or two sided users can either proceed immediately to the Battledome to start earning points (in a one sided war) or choose a side (in a two sided war) to earn
points for
before doing so. Points are rewarded based on how difficult an opponent is (stronger opponents in later waves give more points) and how many of that opponent the user defeats. As the event progresses stronger opponents will
appear in the
Battledome leading up to the " War Boss " being released. The event will end once the war boss is defeated in older versions of a War, but as of Hannah and the Ice Caves the War Boss cannot be defeated through normal
means. The
bosses for Hannah and the Ice Caves and Curse of Maraqua were virtually invincible and thus never beaten by a user. One prize was rewarded to a user based on their overall performance in all wars except Curse of
Maraqua
which was the first use of a " Prize Shop ". The prize is automatically delivered to your inventory along with a confirmation Neomail.
Logic Puzzle
This is just as it sounds like; a type of event that requires you to figure out which of the characters have done a specific task and when. Normally clues are given out somewhere on the site to point you in the right direction, but Red
Herrings are
also thrown in to throw users off. To participate a user will have to evaluate the clues and make a guess from a list of options. If you get all or most of your guesses correct you will be rewarded.
Progressive Puzzle
This is an old format that is not used anymore (thank goodness). Think of this as the predecessor of the " Interactive Plot "; an event where steps had to be have completed in a certain order to progress further. Instead of allowing all
users who
participate a chance at prize points only the first 10,000 users to reach the final step of the puzzle and complete it are rewarded. These Plots are difficult when compared to an Interactive Puzzle because it's not clear where to go in order to
complete a particular step. It could have been anywhere on the site.
Gaming Tournament
Primarily used to describe the annual event The Altador Cup. This has a format very similar to a sided war in which users are prompted to choose a Team before they begin earning points. The amount of points earned depends
on which
game is played. Yooyuball was the original game and the only one playable in Altador Cup I (it received a significant revamp in Altador Cup III). Make Some Noise and Slushie Slinger joined it as of
Altador Cup
II to give users alternate games to play from Yooyuball in exchange for significantly lower contributed points. Players are playing not only for personal points received at the end of the event but to have their respective Teams rise
in the overall
standings. Everyone who participates gets to pick from the same prizes but only the Top 3 Teams will get a unique Trophy. The others will get a Participant Medal Trophy.
Gaming Event
Primarily used to describe the annual events The Gamemaster's Challenge (November) and The Daily Dare (March). The rules for these events vary depending on the event. For The Gamemaster's Challenge you have to
complete
challenges from a generated list to receive an instant prize while in The Daily Dare you are given a score in a specific game and minimal score to beat to get credited for the day. Your performance in the challenges determines the type of
prize
and trophy you receive at the end.
Defenders of Neopia
Admittedly this is not a Plot / Event in the same sense as the others, but now there are enough characters involved in the series to warrant its own section. This is a Battledome related event where you must find the opponent on a
particular
mission and defeat them to receive a trophy (but no other prize). Currently Defenders of Neopia is split into two series; the older " Series 1 " and the newer " Series 2 ". You do not have to complete Series 1 to start Series 2, but
you
must defeat the opponents in any particular series in order.

The Neopian Plot and Site Event Archives (the Plot Archives for short) is a constantly growing petpage where you can look into Neopia's Past. Here you can find links to past Plots or Events, collect your prizes for
those events, re-read your favorite Plot Comics, or view the trophies or prizes. This page was created through the contributions of hundreds of different users with the largest contributors listed on the left sidebar. This is maintained by
mobian_hero who can be reached for questions and comments here.
