Hello guest, welcome to my easy-to-read guide on Restocking! Please read through all my tips and you'll be rolling in the cash in no time!
Quick Navigation
Ok, before you start you must of course know what the term Restock means.
The term Restock simply means buying an item from a neopian shop (book shop, food shop etc.) cheap, and then selling it for a lot more in your own shop. Some people may just call this RSing on the neoboards.
Example:
Neopian shop price:
Shop wizard price:
People do this to make money the easy (or as I call it, the lazy) way, and it works! But this doesn't mean cancelling out games altogether; you still need the money to buy things with in the first place!
Before we start Restocking you need to set up your shop. If you don't already have one, open one up for 150nps now! Make sure you set your world to neopia central (this is important).
Make sure you don't have too many flashy icons in your shop! This will turn people off the shop or just purely distract them (this can get really annoying for dialup users), because most people that want to buy something big don't have time to scroll all the way down the screen. If you want a successful buisness then please no music, no cursors, no adoptables or dancing images, no animated background (plain ones are ok), and please lay off the fake random events (if a fake RE is too close to the top of the page TNT can freeze you!) and fake items (example: faerie queen doll, price = free!). And most importantly make sure that your text is clear and visible! If people can't see the price they won't buy!
Hit counters and mall banners etc. are OK.
BAD EXAMPLE
GOOD EXAMPLE
I know all the decoration is nice but please leave it out! Remember that your shop is your buisness, its like walking into wal mart and getting blinded by some big laser that isn't good for anything!
Firstly you need to choose a shop to Restock in (some tips on this in the next section). As A demonstration I will use the Toy store. First look for an item that you know is a good buy (ALWAYS check the shop wizard if you are unsure!), and click on the item. This screen should then show up:
You'll have to type in a certain amount of neopoints in the box that lies next to the "your offer" text. For example, I've typed in 222 neopoints. The name of the game is to snag the item as quick as you can, so you need to type something easy in rather that 183. However you can haggle (or put in higher if the number is quicker to type)if you have a very fast computer. Make sure you click on the neopet in the box; a mynci in my example; otherwise your offer will not be accepted. This feature is in place to prevent robo Restockers from buying the items automatically (a robot wouldn't be able to click on the mynci). You should spend no longer than 3 seconds on the upper page.
If you do not succeed to get the item the following screen will come up:
*NOTE*: The name item you tried to purchase will be displayed instead of the 'yellow korbat keyring' text, and your active pet will be displayed where mine is.
When this appears, go back to the shop and if the page appears the same as it was before you tried to purchase, reload the screen (use F5, its a lot quicker!). Then try to buy something else.
If you manage to buy something this screen will appear:
The item is then automatically put into your items ready for you to sell :). I sold this for 240nps :).
Sometimes the shop gan get empty; it will look like this:
Please IGNORE what the shopkeeper says. The shops do not restock every 8 minutes, it's always random. The shop does not have to be empty to restock either. The restocks can be from about 30 seconds after the last one, and some have been known not to restock for about 90 minutes!
It is good to open up multiple browsers so you can restock at different shops at the same time. You should refresh each page every 30 seconds. Its best to do something else like play pyramids or cliffhanger or something while you wait. Try not to play flash games that you cannot pause while you are in the middle of trying to restock!
Sounds easy so far, doesn't it? Well unfortunately there are downsides!
there is ALWAYS something in this shop, and if nothing appears then you're banned! I know one person that got restock banned after 30 minutes, but this is very rare!
Magic shop
(shop 2)
Things to look out for:
Relatively ANY morphing potion is a good buy, firstly make sure that you try and grab the paint brush colours or the Limited Edition species morphing potions. BUT some may be around 50k, varies what species/colour you come accross. The majority of morphing potions (MPs) are rarity 95+, so the will not always appear after every restock :(.
Things to avoid:
Slippery floor potion
This is priced around 48k; sounds like this could be a good snipe doen't it?? Wrong! Last time I checked the Wiz they were priced around 900nps... some people do fall for this and lose a lot of money!
Toy shop
(shop 3)
Things to look out for:
Meuka Pinata, balthazar pinata, hubrid nox pinata & vira pinata
All of these are a great profit (used to be around 90k, but Tarla may have deflated the price a bit if she gave them out). They aren't that hard to get either, they are around rarity 75. But please note that when you search for pinatas in the search bar, not all will be sold in the toy shop; some pinatas are furniture! If you don't already have the pinatas & candy avatar, furniture pinatas will not work :(.
Things to avoid:
Please restrain from buying the keyrings! I don't think any of them give you a fair profit; the majority of them are sold for 50nps oon wiz! They are usually priced at 300nps, but can vary.
Faerieland bookshop
(shop 38)
Things to look out for:
The Green Book, Playing With Fire
These books are usually around 350nps each, the price can vary. These books appear almost every restock, and they can give you a fair 500np profit or so.
The wonders of water, Faerie folk
These are usually priced around 950nps, and even if you push your price down to 900 a good profit will still not be made. Most books sell for roughly 1000nps, so is 100nps really worth it? The book may not even be sold for a month, so it may be a loss on money that could have been spent on something with a better profit.
Booktastic bookshop
(shop 70)
Things to look out for:
Kreludan crossowrds, Kreludan cookie cookbook, Neocola book
There's a full list of kreludan books here. All the books from the code down are the ones that you should try and get. Some on that list are retired though and will not be able to buy from there.
Ok, now that you have some items it's time to put them in your shop! Make sure your shop is big enough to hold all (its best to make a shop as big as you can afford, the bigger the shop the higher up it will appear in the marketplace.
Instead of browsing through all the pages of your items to try and find the unpriced items, click on the link that says 'order by cost' at the top of your stock, and all items that you have not yet priced will appear at the top.
Now open up another browser and go to the shop wizard and type in the name of the item you want to price; we'll use 'the green book' as an example:
Now that you've seen the average price of the item you'll need to price it around 990nps. Only do this if your shop only has one page of items in it (see shop front). If your shop is big (over size 40) then you can get away with pricing it at about 1500, since the bigger the shop the more people you will get in your shop! Please don't attempt to overprice items if you have a small shop otherwise nobody will buy.
If an item is still in your shop after a week, and none of them have sold, then you need to lower the price a tiny bit. If it hasn't sold after a few days then you need to do the same.
And before I forget please don't write stuff like this in you shop front, it's basically begging:
This is a real turn off and shows that you are not at all imaginative :p. Things like "Please take a look at my items, I hope you find a great deal!" are ok, its just that people do not want the "BUY!!!!" word shoved down their throats. Even if your prices are extremely cheap please don't do this!
An unbuyable is an item that is priced over 99,999nps and cannot be purchased using the shop wiz :). If you do come accross one you need to be super speedy, these items don't sit there for long! Unbuyables are r90+, so they'll only come once in a while :). If you do recieve one, sell it on trading post at a cheap price :). Ask cash for it since people prefer to do that than trade items.
Some unbuyables come at quite high prices (morphing potions etc.), and others can be as cheap as chips!

It will take a lot of patience and effort to get it, so don't expect line after line of rare choocies to come your way! Just look around and if you see anything over 5k then it's probably r90+!
There are other avatars that involve the neopian shops I think I shuld mention here:
1.Gnome!
Visit the Garden Centre while carrying an item whose name contains the word gnome.
The best way to do this is to buy the cheapest item in the garden centre with the word gnome in it, refresh and voila! If this doesn't work, go out of the shop and go back in again (making sure that the page reloads!).
Please feel free to add these buttons to your shop or lookup :). If you want to add me as an affiliate please use one of these on your page and neomail me if you want me to link back to you as well :).
Please Neomail me to apply as one :).
