Welcome guest . You maybe wondering why stairs? What do they have to do anything? Why are they so special?
Stairs have been the means for ascending and descending altitudes since the dawn of time, well maybe not THAT far back but centuries upon centuries nonetheless.

Stairs are all built counter-clockwise if ascending stairs, if descending, they are of course built clockwise.
In the Middle Ages buildings became higher and castles more popular.It was also a very dangerous time to live in. Everyone fought with everyone.
To defend their private properties against intruders, they built their stairs counter-clockwise. Due to most people (around 90%) being right-handed in those days, the stairs were built to their advantage.When an intruder was climbing the stairs, he would constantly hit the wall as apposed to the property owner. The defender didn't have this disadvantage.The way the stairs were built made it extremely difficult to conquer the building. Because we've built them counter-clockwise for so many centuries we're stuck in the habit.
Stairs are an underestimated defender, protectors of the floor above.
They keep your neopets safe in their beds, away from harms way. They allow you privacy without need for locks... they're always there to help lift you up when you are down (hehe! couldn't help myself) They're heroes.

Wooden stairs are great for those low on NP but still wanting to reach the next level of their neohomes, but remember cheap doesn't always mean a lack of quality. Name : Country Staircase Weight : 600 lbs. Rarity : 87 Cost (approx) : 2241 NP This pristine white and hardwood staircase will add a bit of country charm to your Neohome.

What country home would be complete with its own flight of classic country stairs, positioned in either kitchen or living room , these stairs will always add that feeling of home sweet home. Chunky wood of the nicest grain detailed with the whitest of peeling paints , what home wouldn't look chic. Are these the stairs for you?

Name : Dung Stairs Weight : 500 lbs. Rarity : 77 Cost (approx) : 798 NP Never worry about having to walk down those cold wood stairs again if you get this staircase.

Not suitable for all nos...pets, these stairs bring with them their own idea's on homely fragrances your snorkles are sure to love. I would advise all neohome owners to wear suitable footwear when ascending or even descending and remember to wash before and after. These are possibly the cheapest of all stairs ... and although most certainly not the greatest style or fragrance choice , they still permit you to reach the next floor. Bring the epitome of style into your neohome with this stunning silver and purple cases. With a lack of railing , these stairs maintain the open planned feel and great for extra space beneath, and who doesnt need extra space for those items you just couldnt be without. However its lack of railing also makes it unsuitable for households with youngsters as its all too easy for your baby pets to stumble and fall over the side *ouch*. Are these the stairs for you?

Name : Straw Stairs Weight : 600 lbs. Rarity : 78 Cost (approx) : 878 NP Soft and charming this staircase will work in a neohome or a barn.

Perfect for economy housing , although not so much if your neopets a Uni for example... they maybe tempted to tuck into these stairs on their way to the bathroom.Straw stairs are in no way waterproof , to save on replacement avoid using in Ice rooms. They are however cheap, cheerful and great for that farm yard feeling.Who says you cant bring the outside in. Are these the stairs for you?

Great for space saving , not so much for rolling down, these stairs just scream class *not literally* . Cool on the feet and kind on the eyes these stairs would finish off any city styled home. Doesnt go well in traditional settings however due to the metallic tones. Are these the stairs for you?

Love that floating feeling when you wake for breakfast...well now you can have that feeling every time you go up or down stairs with these light and airy flights of cloudy goodness. However , as with all clouds , expect weather conditions within any room you find a flight of these. As the name suggests , these are by far the grandest , most elegant flight of stairs your pets could ever wish for. Allow you to not only gain access to the next level but into a choice of rooms, giving you the ability to have "wings" like only the grandest of estates possess...even in a home of only 3up 3down. They are , as to be expected , the most expensive stairs you could possess... what better way to show your wealth then these great flight of stairs? Are these the stairs for you?

Back in 2006 TNT devised an Haunted Woods plot. The first step was to find a locket in a burnt house a young ixi we've come to know and love as Sophie the Swamp Witch,lived with her family. Many found the locket located in the hole in the stairs(including myself)... big deal you may think, but if the stairs had disappeared many wouldn't have been able to help discover neovia...learn just how Sophie became a witch...visit the asylum we all, at one time, could've done with been admitted to.

Earlier that year TNT also released a mini-plot revolved around the discovery...or rather the reawakening of The City of Altador. Neopians were required to find constellation hidden around Altador and then plot them using the telescope in the observatory...in which we had to ... yep you guessed it. Climb Stairs! After climbing hundreds of stairs, you find yourself in some kind of dome-shaped room atop the Hall of Heroes.

There are also , of course , many flights of stairs in neopia to help your pets get around.

Where as, these stairs we only have related items to suggest they do infact exist :

Not everyone in Neopia wish to use a single flight of stairs , or the ones neopets have so kindly provided for them. These extremely clever and inventive neopians have come up with their very own form of stair cases , made up of many forms of furniture or many flights of "premade" staircases. They have provided their pets with an originalty no one could ever truly recreate. This section is dedicated solely to them.For their talents astound and they truly know the importance of staircases.

Using Royal Oak Wood Cabinets and Classic Dining Tables Mutantanaconda managed to create the ultimate in grandure within her neohome, adding Crystal Eyrie Sculptures for that finishing touch. These stairs are truly beautiful and just drip wealth , class and charm. Her neopets are truly lucky to have such a thoughtful and extremely creative owner.

Memermouse created this simple , yet functional flight of stairs using Roaring Log Fires and Golden Grundo Soap Dishes for the banister (handrails). I would be careful when walking up these stairs though , for although they keep your feet nice and warm , one false move could leave you with a very red bottom. It just goes to show though , there is NO limitation to the items you could use when building your very own stairways to faerieland.

M.C. Escher's perpetual staircase as interpreted by benvolio_dude. A stair case which appears to have no top nor bottom, but seems to take you from one room to the next. Not every pet can claim they have a renowned optical illusen in a life sized scale based on work by one of the worlds greatest artists. However amazing , these of course are not practical, unless you wish to climb or descend Wooden Stairs to find yourself in yet another spiked pit. Very inventive none the less ^_^

Set of Four Commemorative Punch Club Pie Plates , just another overly produced piece of tat resulting from yet another drawn out plot? Well think again! cybraria used them to decorate the flight of stairs she carefully crafted from Entertainment Center's. Using Wock Til You Drop posters to create the effect of a shaded side panelling,she managed to create a classic, carpetted "town house" styled staircase.

benvolio_dude has created yet another spectacular staircase almost in the style of a "sidewinder" giving the effect of a 3 storey high room. Leaving the highest level , descending to the ground and then ascending to yet another on a higher floor. He has also kindly created a tutorial on how to create this very flight of stairs and many other wonderful furniture peices which you can view HERE

lady_eleanore created a great corner flight,maintaining as much floor space as possible. Using Wooden Desks as the stair base and Classic Dinning Tables to create a wonderful carpetted effect. The "wreathe" effect for the bannister was created using the Dual Vase Ornament's and Red Buckets to give the overall look a touch of elegance. A great set of stairs for anyone short of ground space.

cloveapple used Wooden Desks and Zen Drawers to create a simple , open planned staircase. This pale wood effect means it will go in almost any surrounding , regardless of the furniture colours. She was also clever enough to remember to add the ending of the stairs in the correct room on the second floor. Again using the Wooden Tables to maintain the correct flow. Her pets love having an actual destination when climbing these charming stairs.

Here's another example of sheer genius by cloveapple.Not only has she created a very fitting slatted stair effect using nothing but Neopian Times Paper Racks , but also used Wooden Stairs to create the effect of bunks for her beds. Pets love having the choice of altitude they sleep at. Again the ladders end on the above room. Using a Zen Drawer and Fresh Bamboo Shelf Unit it does actually look like the stairs go down to the next floor. If you look carefully you'll see even Dr.Sloth himself couldn't help but have a go.

Stairs aren't only a great way of changing floors , but also for creating a form of decking to your homes, as shown by avatarh. Using Green Play Pens she's created a stairway taking you onto a decking , creating a great relaxing retreat right there in her own front room, so to speak. Decking is a divider in its own right , seperating one area from another...stairs are what makes it all possible.

avatarh has created another amazing use of decking for her study , allowing a library below and a bedroom above.This is a very cool over looking effect , again one could only achieve by the marvel of stairdom. Using Hover Beds she's created a very rustic , stone staircase appearance.The great thing about that being , however cold stone maybe, a bed is always comfy.Its bound to keep your feet feeling soft but always on solid ground.

So now you see , or atleast you should.Stairs are wonderful items to own , ones you should respect , cherish and adore. They come in any style , shape or colour you could ever dream of...and with this wonderful means of elavation , not even the sky is the limit. And for those of you out there still lacking the want to go and build or buy your very own stairways to faerieland ... theres always a ladder!
