Financial Aid

Because Neopets does not allow Guild Donation Shops, we will not be using a donation shop. Any special days we will have will be "sharing" days: days where we open our pocketbooks and donate to each other through our members' stores rather than the "guild" as a whole. This way, we will abide by Terms of Neopets. =) This is no "party event" but just a day suggested to donate, and prices are not inflated but completely normal. You already get a gift for donating, if you choose to look at it that way. ^-^

Though University.'s guild mall is generally run by Economics majors, anyone is free to join! These malls remain well-stocked and affordable. Economics majors generally own stores in the guild mall because they are saving up for something.

And whenever someone is feeling particularily generous or University. would like to congratulate hard efforts, one can just pop in and donate for a valued item (seeing as how these are normal stores without unnecessary inflation).

University. aesthetic
We start the virtual tour of University. at the image of our guild layout. Though guilds really shouldn't be judged by appearances, we know how the mind's eye is swayed, the fickleness of human nature... However, be the beaken of light to judge us not by our gorgeous or horrid apearance and look for the quality, personality, and activities within us. You never know - the picture may be a trick to test your judgemental faults/skills. (:

University. stays smaller in size (by council's heavy duty pruning member inactivity cleaning shears - aka HDPMICS)with currently 32 members. But, don't let our member count fool you; we have the momentous potential to grow and dominate (-cough- did we say dominate? We meant um... hibernate!). Then, wouldn't you be disappointed you didn't join us? Our activity, welcoming skills, and membership priveleges pack quite a punch!

Our message board holds a whooping 6,000+ posts plus that grows each and every day through guild events, Major discussions, celebratory events, and simple chat. Though we may be old (4+ years old), University. is a new experimental theme created by Kiwi and officially became habitable after petpage PNG shining treatments, HDPMICS sweeps, and through the help of our caring members.

Our website's true location remains hidden to the stranger's eye, not only for copyright purposes to protect us from the weak of mind, but because it builds anticipation! You can feel the anticipation building inside you now, right? ... Non? Well, it's a gradual thing.

In fact, even our new members can't see the website during their participation in the Newbie Orientation Program (New-Ops) until they have served their two weeks of time and really feel like one of the family. The unveiling of the website for new members is the reward for their important contributions to the guild: their friendship, character, maturity, and integrity!
Since you can't see the website right now, we'll tell you a little bit about it.

University.'s whole purpose, location of operations, and guild headquarters is in the University. guild website. Our advertising tips, messages, quiz answers, dorm placement information, Majors and Minors listings, Cafeteria, Library, Dorm pages, Dorm activites, Diploma history wall, games, news, clubs, study abroad program - everything that a member of the guild has the privilege to participate in. Because it is so large and we don't want to give away too much of the surprise after you pass New-Ops, we can't give you a tour of the whole website. However, we can show you some of the things we offer to whet your appetite.

Study Abroad- People of any major are welcome to participate in our study abroad program, but comminications majors must study abroad atleast once. Only one or two people may study abroad simultaneously, and you must be in the guild for atleast one month before you are eligible to apply.
Once you are accepted to study abroad, you are given instructions on how to screenie if you do not already know how to do so. You are suspended from the guild for a week; you are not allowed to chat on the guild message board, visit the website, or chat on the GC Neopets board.
Through your stay overseas, you must practice your helpfulness and friendliness by chatting on all boards that Neopets has to offer. You must stay on topic, and put "studying abroad (or SA)" somewhere in your avatar signature. When you comment or create a topic, you must reference your studying abroad, your dorm, link to our admissions page, and post your name. Below this info, you may comment.
Any comments or topics with this info, you must screenie with proof that you visited every kind of board. You are free and encouraged to also screenie any funny messages or topics you encounter while you are away from the guild.
Neomail a council member when you have completed your week with the link to your screenies and you will be returned to the guild. You are then free to share your screenies with the members and put them on your Major's petpage and/or roomates page.

University. Wars- A council member will contact the member of another renouned guild and discuss University. Wars. The two will create riddles or some game together. Once the rules and riddles/game have been created, the two representatives will tell their guilds about the Declaration of War and ask members to sign up. Once teams are established for each, information will be sent out about "who will verse who, who will make the GC board topics, what the acceptable board topics are, etc." The boards will sweep the GC~
The guild who wins gets a banner and the loser must declare a day that they will not advertise on the GC whatsoever.
After the war, no hostility or bragging will be tolerated. The game is created so that you will engage in friendly competition with people outside of your guild. The game makes you work together will those in your guild who are outside of your dorm, and it helps you make friends outside of University.'s "bubble." Plus, it is a win-win for both guilds: they both get fame on the GC! :D

guest, when you are accepted into University., you will pick your major. Majors in University. represent what goals you wish to achieve on Neopets; they border the themes of Neopets and RL College. Once you pick your major, you will be given the guidlines of what you must achieve before you will receive your "diploma" to signify your exceptional Neopets skills to the world!

What does it mean to have a major and guidlines?

After you receive the specific guildlines for your major, your username and goals will be posted on the website for all the guild to see and support. At the end of every month, we have "University. Brag Day" where the members of the guild get together on the guild message board to talk about what they did that month to achieve their goals. To prepare for this day, we suggest that you have a petpage set aside to take screenies of the things you accomplish.

University. Brag Day" is a very comforting time. While people may or may not talk about their goals during the month, you have a chance to see the actual results of University. and its member's efforts! Hope, friendship, and encouragement is offered this day and people make actual progress. =)

Here is the current list of our offered majors:

Avatar Collecting: Start with atleast 170 and get to or surpass 200 avatars~
1. Number is decreased by two when you lend avatar items to the guild
2. Extending cases: Those with more than 200 who would like to enhance their avatar collections are encouraged to gain 15-20 more (number will be assigned)
3. Those members with under 170 avatars will also be encouraged to exceed a certain specific number of avatars (numbers will be assigned).
((170 is just a guidline and does not exclude anyone))
Writing: Get story/article submitted to the Neopian Times and must be part of the staff of our University. Newspaper~
1. Roleplayers are welcome as Writing majors as long as they participate and complete three guild roleplay plots.
Advertising: Get atleast 25 guildless people to join University. through care and consideration (not copy&paste - this will be monitored) and be a part of the Guild Admissions Committee.
Communications: Post over 3,000 posts on the Guild Message Board and be a part of the Guild Activities/Parties Committee.
Design: Create professional guild layouts accepted by council, create acceptable professional banners for University. and/or have a responsibility controlling some part of the guild website.
History: Be in the guild for over one year and six months and become a veteran buddy for the Newbie Orientation Buddy Program.
Economics: Create expensive goal and achieve that goal over time, and be part of the guild mall.
Helping: Adopt and save 20 Neopets.
Interior Design: Create and maintain a beautiful neohome. The neohome must be "stylish" and have the following rooms (atleast): bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, library, garden, and bedrooms for each of your pets. :)
Battle: Have a pet win atleast 100 battles.

Minors

Minors don't really have importance in the guild - you don't get a banner or anything other than recognition on the guild website, but they can help you build for the major you want later and they may help you get leadership positions. (:!

When you have submitted your application, have passed the rules quiz and have been assigned to a dorm and roomates, you become enrolled in our Newbie Orientation Program (New-Ops). Though you aren't exactly part of the guild yet - seeing as how you won't be able to have access to the website and its wonderous plethora of activites - you are given special activities and information to get to know your fellow members and get used to the guild atmosphere.

Unfortunately, and though it is rare, it does happen, when the guildless join a new active guild, uncertainty and shyness creeps in. It seems like everyone knows everyone else except you, and they are talking about things you don't know or don't understand. In response, you simply bury yourself in the activites that the guild offers and lurk around the message board to learn the guild and guild members in stealth. However, at University., we want you to shine! We already know you're awesome because you've been accepted into University., so don't be afraid! All of our members remember what it's like to feel new, so don't let your shyness get the better of you.

Our Newbie Orientation Program lasts for a full two weeks. This means that you may not join on day one, introduce yourself, and show up in 14 days. You must actively participate in the guild for the full 14 days. New-Ops is designed to gently introdce you to the guild while tantilizing you with everything the guild has to offer.

Schedule of New-Ops
1. Get acceptance letter
2. Pass rules quiz and take dorm placement quiz, get assigned roomates and New-Ops Veteran Buddy
3. Contact/Receive contact from roomate(s) about designing dorm page.
4. Contact/Receive contact from New-Ops Veteran Buddy
5. Introduce/Be introduced to the guild
6. Advertise and chat with New-Ops Veteran buddy
7. Play New-Ops TAG and NAME GAME games
8. Participate and get to know people in the guild for full two weeks
9. Pass New-Ops, rank up, and receive link to University. website by Veteran Buddy!

University. Dorms are your guild teams in guild challenges and Dorm activities, but they are not excluding. There is no such situation where you may only talk to the people in your dorm, or in your major, etc. University. Dorms only serve the purpose of servicing activites to smaller groups of people and by making our University. family that much closer together. We may feel friendly competition during University. guild challenges, but that feeling of competition never leaks onto message boards in hostile remarks or threats, and the competition never hurts our friendships. Our dorms, one can consider, are very much like Harry Potter dorms (without the Slytherins).

When you pass the short rule quiz and complete the dorm placement quiz, you are assigned to a dorm. The dorm's names and activities will not be listed here so you will not psychologically bias your answers to fit one dorm or so you will become disappointed. You'll have to wait and be amazed. Be reassured that the dorm we pick for you fits your personality!
