The cluster of rocks stand invitingly among the gentle waves which shimmer under the morning sun as you hurry along shore and then into the shallow waters, having only to wet your ankles until you can step up onto the boulders slightly submerged in water The sea is so blue and the sand so white that she could see the silvery fish darting here and there clearly as she made her way towards the sunbathing rocks, gliding through the water as smooth and swift as a dolphin. You hop upon the smaller rocks and towards a large, flat expanse of stone, smoothed from whethering past high tides and waves. But today it is dry and warm from the sunlight, and you take a seat, surrounding yourself by endless ocean... There! The peophin neared. Shafts of light from above the water's surface danced down on the ocean floor and illuminated the shadows of the tall rocks as she came up, refreshing bubbles rising with her You crawl to the edge of your rock and look down to see if there was any interesting sealife -- a scuttling crab, or perhaps one of those little flashy silver fish you saw earlier. But over there, the deeper part; what was that shadow coming up...? Splash! Up surfaced some strange white...well, what was it? You jerk back as a light spray of water sprinkles you. The white -- was it a dolphin? -- creature smoothly slides up upon a neighboring rock, just as flat if not a little larger than your own and turns to cock its head at you A peophin! And a marvellous one at that; pure white, with mysterious markings like that of an islandic breed's, and a silver mask that glimmers with bright aquamarine jewels, some set in, some dangling above her berry-hued eyes. Her mane is wavy; sea-tossed, with a color of endless light blue. She tosses her lavish forelock out of her eyes and gazes back with curiousity How did she know my name? You grin back |

Sometimes I start to have dreams again -- just once in a while, but they are only a little less real than the ones the fountain faerie had sent to me... I was alone; I'm often alone, but those nights on the island were spent isolated from anyone. It wasn't like I didn't have a choice--I could've left the deserted place anytime I wanted. It was a tropical island, full of palm trees and birds, such colorful creatures you could hardly tell them apart from flowers they were so bright and multi-hued. At that time I looked different. I was white, my mane still a sky-blue color, but I bore no markings - no circlets, no swirls. And the greatest of all, I had wings! Great, swan like wings that spanned out arching; my feathering, downy vanities. I actually do not recall how I had washed up on the island; everything's still a little hazy. I seem to remember everything but! I was a mess when I woke. My snow-white coat had turned wan and grey and was rough from being in the saltwater so long; my body had shut down when I half-drowned --I know, it hard to believe a peophin can, but its true!-- and ceased to produce the essential body oils all sea-bound peophins produced. My mane was tangled up so badly, and locks of seaweed and tiny seashells had woven themselves in. Shall I say I looked like a fevered mermaid? But worst of all, when I tried to get up, sharp and very real pain shot through my shoulders, and I would collapse in the sand from my exhaustion and hurt. I could only move my tail, which in my frustration I slapped against the water, splashing miserably. What had happened was that when whatveer occured happened -- I begin to think it was a sudden tsunami, theyre very violent around these parts -- my wings had not been tucked in and were spread out at my sides, and had been severely damaged. Feathers were missing; I owned naught but pathetic down, and the bones had been splintered. It was a very sorry sight. My savior came a day later, right after I was starting to think I'd starve to death at my helplessness. She was a |
