Not knowing where to turn I'm surrounded by the flames When I see a river flow I'm surrounded by the flames As I jumpe across the stream I'm surrounded by the flames Wishing this was just a dream I'm surrounded by the flames As I cough up ash and smoke I'm surrounded by the flames While I gasp for air and choke I'm surrounded by the flames As my brother pulls me near I'm surrounded by the flames Wishing they would disapear I'm surrounded by the flames When everything's okay I'm surrounded by the flames During night and day I'm surrounded by the flames To this day I'm in recovery I'm surrounded by the flames That stay haunting in my memory.. The alpha pups! The whole pack tingled with excitement as the alphas annonced their news! Pups! Healthy alpha pups! The hunting had been great that year so healthy pups were expected. Izaeah the alpha fea and Ezekiel the alpha male were going to have their first litter of alpha pups! The pack gathered around and began to sing the song of the pups. Izaeah and Ezekiel nuzzled eachother excited about their wonderful news. Weeks later the pups were born. Eight of them, healthy and smart and strong. Two stood out though, the first born male, CopperMount, and the second born female, Lupede. The two siblings stuck together like glue never leaving the other's sight. They soon were loved by the whole pack and shown signs of becoming great and powerful leaders one day. Lupede and her quick legs and wonderful attitude and CopperMount with his calmness and strength. They bonded and became inseperable. Then one day, their whole lives changed... //Chapter Two You can never catch me!" Lupede yelled at her brother playfully encouraging him to go faster to tag her and start the game over again. Oh yes I can!" he yelled back and with one quick pounce tackled her to the ground, rolling and laughing. They got up and shook themselves off, before they could start a new game though, their mom made the naptime call and they came running back. They licked their mother's chin before entering the den for their nap, their energy exhausted and ready to sleep. Lupede circled and curled up into a ball before finally dropping to the floor. She quietly dozed off into dream land, fully unprepared for what would awake her shortly after. Lupede's ears twitched. They had heard something, a loud explosion maybe. She opened her eyes and brought up her head, fully awake now and listening. There were more explosions, and many howls and snarls coming from outside the den. She noticed that at the enterance it wasn't light outside like it should be. Confused, Lupde crept up to it and peeked outside. What she saw chilled her to the bone. Her father and another alpha, the Fire Claw pack's leader, were battling brutaly, her father getting the worst of it. The other alpha blew fire, and Lupede's eyes widened as they scorched her father's face. CopperMount had come up from behind Lupede and knowingly, led her to a bush nearby and out of the den. They crouched their and watched as their father tried to protect his children but simply could not beat the flames. Lupede whimpered quietly, wanting to help him, but she knew she couldn't. CopperMount protectively stood over his sister as she cried, and watched his father take the final blow. He lay there, a fallen leader, his body beaten, burned, and still. Lupede couldn't take it anymore and darted away as the alpha went into the den to kill their brothers and sisters. CopperMount followed Lupede calling to her, trying to make her stop running. She didn't know where she was going, she was just running to run. She felt alone and betrayed. Her father had died, the rest of her pack had died in the fire from the Fire Claw's and she didn't know where to go. She ran until she couldn't hear CopperMount's calls to her anymore then realized she was surrounded. They were all around her like big flaming walls, daring her to find a way out. She cried and whimpered and howled, begging the heavens to save her life. Suddenly she was heard. A spirit came and hovered over her angelically, but Lupede could smell a hint of something else...she wasn't sure, but she didn't have time to figure out. Lupede, I will spare your life today, but if you survive I shall put a curse upon you at your greatest moment in life!" the spirit spoke, sounding a little eerie and less angelic. Please oh please let me live!" she begged wild eyed and scared. Then the spirit turned to one of the walls of flames, touched it, and away it went, like magic. Lupede looked back at the spirit but it had vanished, without a trace. Then she heard CopperMount on the other side of the flames and ran towards him, out of the flames and into his embrace. They held eachother for a few minutes, crying and whimpering their sorrow. Finally, with one quick look behind them, they left what would have been their home for the rest of their life. //Chapter Three After the fire things were never the same. They hardly talked to one another, and cried often. They were just pups so they didn't know how to protect themselves or find food. They lived off of the food provided by others, finding kills made by other animals and eating what little was left. At night they could hardly sleep. CopperMount stood protectively over his sister while she cried herself into her nightmares. But the biggest thing that changed was there newfound powers. Ever since that night when the flames had surrounded them they had left a mark on their coats in the resemblence of a flame. The ash and soot they had swallowed gave them the ability to make fire with their voice, or tail, or paws. What had not killed them, had made them stronger. As they got older, they began to understand the ways of life by learning from the other animals around them. They learned to prowl, and pounce of unsuspecting victims by watching the cougars. They learned how to outsmart the rabbit by watching the fox, and how to outsmart the fox by watching the rabbit. They were soon very skilled hunters, Lupede using her strong and fast legs to herd the animals to her brother while he patiently waited and used his wisdom and cunning to make the attack. They hardly used their powers knowing the damage they could do with such a thing. They relied on eachother more that anything else and their bond tightened. Once they came into their teen years they decided to go away from the land they had learned so much from. They had realized how much grief it had caused them and had decided that it would be best just to leave it all behind. They headed north towards the mountains, where they knew there was more of their kind. With lifted spirits and high hopes they began the long journey to where they wanted to go, but little did they know that they would make a stop along the way. //Chapter Four As they traveled they began to grow tired. They stopped about 20 miles from the mountains to rest, eat, and sleep. Together, they felled a deer and started to eat. Then, Lupede heard something close by, and it was hurt! Lupede, always with a kind heart, ran towards the pitiful cries of what she believed to be was a fox pup. When she arrived at the noise, she immediately fell in love with what she saw. A baby fox pup, alone and hurt, it had broken its arm and was crying, shaking, and scared. Lupede walked up to it cautiously letting it know she meant no harm then picked it up gently by the scruff of its neck. Her mothering instincts kicked in from there, and she was only a teen herself. She fed the pup and gave its leg time to heal before she named him, Poor. Lupede taught the pup how to hunt like a wolf, track down prey like a wolf, and howl like a wolf. She became he pup's adopted wolf mother, and soon he started behaving exactly like a wolf. The pup had a personality too. He was very playful and rambunctious always in a good mood. He even got CopperMount to smile sometimes. With Poor there to keep their spirits up, they began to enjoy life more and more every minute. By the time Poor reached into his early teens, they had almost become a pack, killing prey together and howling in the night. They had become their own little family. They never made it to the mountains and soon forgot it all together. They were a team, and stayed that way for a few more years, then, a terrible thing happened... The spirit started singing and chanting The spirit then started running at Lupede an evil grin in her eyes making her appear devilish. Lupede screamed and started to run. She was not ready to die. Poor then stood in the spirit's way and yelled,"Don't take her! Take me instead! The spirit cackled and said,"Why would you so young and brave, give away your life for your mother's?" Poor looked into her eyes bravely and said,"Because she took me in when I was abandoned. She healed me when I was sick. And she taught me how to love in return." The spirit looked into Poor's eyes a mixture of hatred and evil. She cackled and started to sing and run circles around him. A sudden flash of lightning struck at Poor' sheart and left a big red scar where his heart was. Suddenly he collapsed, his heart no longer beating. And the spirit was gone. Lupede ran up to her son and put her had to his chest, hearing no beat she began to howl to the sun, sky, and Earth. CopperMount tried to calm her down but she was far to miserable. Then looking back at her son one last time she started running. She ran and ran without looking back. She heard her brother behind her beckoning her to stay, but she couldn't, not now. She ran and ran until she collapsed, feeling heartbroken, and alone. ![]() -sighs- There is none, not right now... ![]() Clyde : This is one of my first and bestest friends! I named her after my favorite flower, a rose. She became my companion once me and Poor were seperated. I miss him terribly, but Rosey helps me ease the pain.
