Welcome

Welcome to the Dochas Adoption Agency. We are a group of people dedicated to finding abandoned neopets homes, and giving players wonderful pets. If you are interested in Adopting or putting a Neopet up for adoption, please look around our page and then neomail imbosho

Important Information
  • By sending in a request to adopt a pet, you are officially agreeing to adopt the pet. Backing out of this agreement will result in you not being eligible to adopt any other pets from the Dochas Adoption Agency.
  • Before sending in an request to adopt a paticular neopet, please read the Tips on Adoption and Adoption Requirements sections.
  • Anyone can adopt, there is no group or guild that you need to join to apply to adopt from our agency. However, we maintain the right to refuse any applications that don't fufill or specific requirements. We do our best to pair everyone who requests up with a Neopet but it isnt a perfect system. If you are declined a certain neopet we apologize and hope that you try again with a different Neopet.
  • Bulling and harassment will not be tolerated. If anyone sends hate mail or acts inapropriatly, they will be reported to the Neopets Team.
  • If you want to adopt a Neopet or put a Neopet up for adoption, reserve a neopet for adoption, or ask a question, neomial imbosho.

Adoption Requirements

In order to even be eligible to adopt, your account must be four months old. This is a Neopets rule, not our rule.

You must have, at maximum, three neopets. We do not condone pounding of neopets to get a new neopet. That is actually nearly the exact opposite of what we are trying to do here.

You must adopt with the intent to keep your new Neopet. If we find that you have traded your pet away within the first nine months of adopting it, you will not be eligible to adopt again.

Tips for Adoption

Some people feel a bit lost when it comes to sending a request to adopt, so hopefully this guide helps.
There are many things you can do to help improve your chances of being accepted to adopt a pet, and many things you can do decrease your chances of being accepted. Follow these guidelines and you will be on the right track.

NO CHAT SPEAK:It is very annoying, and I guarantee that anyone who neomails me this:

hi!!! Can i haz ur neopets?

will not be accepted to adopt.

NEOMAIL US WITH THE RIGHT TITLES: We set out specific ways to title the neomail for a reason. When you don't, it makes things less organized. To clear things up, I'll give an example of what to do. Say this is the pet you want to adopt:

Syferai

Level: 2
Gender: Male
Hit Points: 79 / 79
Strength: GREAT (21)
Defence: poor
Movement: mach 2
Intelligence: master genius (79)
Petpet: Hornsby

The title of your neomail for this would be "Syferai--Adpotion".

FOLLOW THE ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Read the requirements and make sure you meet our expectations. Breaking any rules ensures that you will not be accepted. Read through this stuff carefully. If we get an adoption request from someone and think they are perfect, only to find out that they have four Neopets already, we will be very disappointed.

MAKE SURE YOU CAN AFFORD A NEW PET: One of the biggest reasons that there are so many Neopets in the pound is because people created pets but couldnt take good care of them. Make sure that you have enough money to take care of an additonal pet before requesting one.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PETS: If we see that your current pets are hungry, sad, or sick, it sends off a bad image. Take care of your current pets before attempting to take on another one.

SPELL CHECK: This isn't that big of a deal, but when you make a bagillion spelling mistakes in your request it looks sloppy. We do our best to be professional, and understand sometimes mistakes are made, but try.

BE CREATIVE: In your request, let us see a little bit of your personality, your neopets dynamic. Do you have any other pets? What are your goals for this new pet? Why do you want this particular pet? We know that there is limited space in a neomail, but try your best to add a little something special to be noticed.

Transfer vs Pounding

There are two ways of physically getting your Neopet to you once you have been through the application process. The first way, which is safer, and the reccomended way of the Dochas Adoption Agency, is Transfer. The second, is less expensive, but much riskier.

TRANSFER:
The process of Transfering a Neopet from the Adoption Agency to your account is a lot more straight forward. It's safer, and is the reccomended way of adopting. It consists of three simple steps.
  • 1. First, we will set up a transfer date and time, through neomail. This lets you know aproxamatly when you will recieve your neopet.
  • 2.On the appointed day and time, we will go to the transfer section of the Neopian Pound. We will transfer you your neopet.
  • 3.You will recieve a message that tells you someone from our Agency has offerd the neopet you want to adopt. It shows you what the fee will be (Neopets rule, not ours). Go to your bank account and get money to pay for the fee. Go to the Neopian Pound transfering section, and on the right, there are two buttons, an Adopt button and a Reject button. The button you want is the Adopt one. Click on the adopt one and the fee instantly taken from you and you will recive your Neopet.

Note that it may take up to four days to complete the transfer.

Here are the official Neopets Rules on Adoption:
You may User-to-User Transfer one Neopet per month. You will be charged a delivery fee of 1,000 NP. If you decide to User-to-User Transfer a Neopet wearing excluded items, those items will not be transferred and will remain in your account. Excluded items are: items purchased at the NC Mall, some non-tradeable items and Battledome items. All other items currently worn will accompany the Neopet to its new owner. The new owner will be charged an adoption fee to be determined on a per Neopet basis. If the new owner does not accept the Neopet within three days or rejects the Neopet, the Neopet will be returned to you immediatly (as long as having it returned will not result in you having more than 4 Neopets) and you will not be refunded the delivery fee and you will not be eligible to attempt another User-to-User Transfer until next month. No more than one Neopet may be adopted via a User-to-User Transfer in the same month. While Neopets are in transit, neither you nor the recipient may adopt or create other Neopets. Neopets are not to be sold in any way. Charging an additional fee for a User-to-User Transfer is a freezable offence.
Neopets that are higher than Level 2, Neopets that are limited-edition species, and Neopets that have been painted with certain rare or expensive paint brushes CANNOT be adopted from accounts that have been active for less than four months.
If you are having a problem with the Direct Transfer, please submit it here. Please note that it may take up to four days to complete the transfer. If you have any other questions, please visit the Contact Us page!

    POUNDING:
The Pounding process is much riskier than the Adoption Process, but is often much less expensive. It consists of 6 steps that sometimes unfortunately end with another user taking your Neopet.
  • 1. First, we set up an appointed date and time through neomail. For the Pounding method, it is VERY important that you are there at the specific time and date. If you arrive just 3 minutes late, it is likely that another person will adopt your pet before you do. We recommend that you get to the pound five minutes before.
  • 2.On the day that we have planned to pound the Neopet for you to adopt, you will receive a Neomail reminder. If this Neomail is not responded to, we will not pound the Neopet and wait until we get a response from you.
  • 3.We recommend that you take out a significant amount of money from your bank account because it DOES cost money to adopt a pet from the pound. We say to take out as much as you feel comfortable taking out because if you don't have enough money when you go to adopt your Neopet from the pound, someone else may get to it before you do. An accurate estimate of how much it costs to adopt a Neopet from the pound can be found here: http://www.sunnyneo.com/poundcalculator.php
  • 4. Five minutes from the pounding, you will receive another reminder message, however, it is not mandatory that you respond to this one.
  • 5. At the exact appointed time, we will pound the pet. It is YOUR job to be the first to find it and click adopt.
  • 6.If you were prepared, and weren't unlucky, you now have your pet. However, if something unfortunate happened, another user adopted your pet before you, you will not have your pet. When this happens, there are only so many things we can do.
The first thing we suggest you do is politely ask the user who adopted your pet for the pet back (To find the user just search your Neopets name and then click on them and then once you get to their petpage click to Neomail the user). Upon request, we will send a neomail asking to give you the pet as well. But, if they want to keep the pet, there is nothing we can do about it.

  • Questions and Answers

Many people have questions about the adoption process, our policies so we have decided to put up a question and answers section. If you have read through this and still feel that you have a question, feel free to neomail youngmissparrow.

    QUESTION: Can anyone Adopt?
ANSWER: Yes! The Dochas Adoption Agency is an agency that is open to everyone. There is no club you need to join, no fee you need to pay. If you see a pet you want to adopt just neomail the given person.

QUESTION: Does it cost money to Adopt?
ANSWER:The Dochas Adoption Agency charges you absolutely nothing to adopt, but the Neopets Team has expenses involved in adopting neopets. It costs more to adopt via transfering, and less in the pound. The prices go up if a neopet is painted, a high level, or very smart.

QUESTION: What can I do to ensure I am accepted to adopt the pet I want?
ANSWER: There is no guaranteed way that we will accept you. We suggest you follow the guidelines in the Tips for Adoption section.

    QUESTION:How do I adopt?
ANSWER: It can vary a little but these are the general steps:
  • 1. Scroll to the bottom of this page and find the pet that you want to adopt.
  • 2. Send a Adoption Request to imbosho
  • 3. Wait a while and you will get a response. If its a yes, continue on. If its a no, sorry, feel free to start over at step 1.
  • 4. We will set up a time in which we will either transfer or pound the Neopet you want to get it to you. (see transfer vs pounding section).
  • 5. You have your adopted Neopet :)

QUESTION:I sent a request to adopt/reserve a Neopet and i havent gotten a response yet! What's going on?!
ANSWER: It could be a combination of things:
  • 1. There may be several requests on the neopet that you are requesting to adopt, in which case it will take longer for us to respond to your request.
  • 2. You may have accidentally sent the request to the wrong address. Make sure you sent the request to imbosho.
  • 3. Unfortunately, there are sometimes bugs in the neomail system. Every now and then a neomail might randomly disappear. While this is unlikely, it is possible.

Please be patient and wait a few days before resending any kind of request.

    Looking for something else?

We apologize if you did not find the Neopet you were looking for here, or were denied to put your neopet up for adoption. If either of these things happen, its often due to a lack of space in this particular agency. We hope that you visit the agencies of our affiliates.
