The medley of colours contrasting from each other in the sky shone brightly in your eyes. The sun was just setting on Birchstone Road. You look over the happy looking gardens in front of the houses, watching the flowers close up for the night. As you continue to make your way back to your house, you hear something... some kind of music, coming from a bit farther up. Curious, you quicken your pace, hoping to get there before the music stopped. Slowly, the music begins to get louder, meaning you were getting closer. You look around, hoping to see where the music was coming from, when all of a sudden it stops. You frown slightly, but shrug it off, continuing to walk down the road. Turning to your right, you see a silhouette of what appears to be a pet of some kind, sitting on the porch railing on the side of a house. You stare for a few minutes, wondering if it was actually alive - it hadn't moved since you noticed it. All of a sudden, it turns to look at you, noticing your stare. You discover that the pet is holding a guitar. That must've been where the music was coming from. Uh, can I help you?" The pet - obviously male - calls out casually. You blink a couple times. "No, I'm just making my way home. I heard some music and was wondering where it was coming from... He nods. "Yeah, that'd be me. Well, if you're in a hurry, I won't hold you up." He places his fingers on the guitar and starts to play again. You listen to the tune coming from the instrument, not feeling like leaving quite yet. "Maybe... I could stay for a while." You admit, wandering closer to hear better. He paused, looking at you for a minute before replying. "Okay. That'd be cool, I guess." ![]() You watch in fascination as the kacheek plays a few more chords, adding to the song he'd been playing before. He pauses and looks over to you. "My name's Vanilla by the way. You're a pretty talented musician, Vanilla." You remark. Heh, I try." He mutters. You watch as he absentmindedly strums the guitar. "So, how long have you been playing?" You ask. A few seconds pass before he answers. "A couple years, I suppose. He blinks, not really paying much attention to anything. You decide to ask another question. "Did something inspire you to start playing? The music from the guitar ceases for a second as the kacheek's eyes glaze over, and he stares out into the sky. "Just... someone special." Hey Vanilla! Oi! C'mon! We're gonna start up a game of volleyball! He heard the eager voices of two of his friends calling out. Midardi and Dakoto, if he wasn't mistaken. He turned as they came running towards him, spraying sand behind them as they came. You comin?" Dakoto asked. Vanilla grinned and nodded. "Of course. Always up for a game. Great! C'mon guys, Vanilla's playing. A striped kacheek girl walked up to them before they had the chance to begin. "Hey guys, do you know where Amy is? I haven't seen her for a little while. Vanilla looked over his shoulder. "Yeah, she's down the coastline, looking for shells and stuff." He smiled. Amy was just another reason he'd been staring at the sunset, watching the light pink colour of her fur blend with the soft lavender of the sky. I didn't see her. Mind helping me come look? Vanilla blinked, looking down the coast. "Sure, I guess." He turned back to his friends. "I'm going to help Charity look for Amy, okay guys? They nodded. "That's fine." Midardi stated. She sighed to herself, glancing around and wondering how far she'd gotten from the others. "Mmm, I should probably head back." She decided, turning on her heel. And bumping into the person who'd just managed to catch up with her. She screamed as they toppled over. She heard the wind being knocked out of him as her body weight slammed him into the ground. Vanilla!" Amy exclaimed. "Don't ever sneak up on me like that again! The sound of giggles made her realise the position she was in. She blushed, jumping quickly to her feet and turning towards Charity - the source of the giggles. "It wasn't that funny." She muttered, lowering her head and trying to hide her blush. You're right." Charity managed between gasping breaths. "It was only hilarious! Vanilla slowly sat up, grinning slightly. "Well... we found her." He stated, shaking the sand out of his fur. "Sorry, I should've said something." He said with a chuckle. Charity stared for a second. "Huh? Oh! Oh yeah, we did." She nodded. "Thanks Nilla." She said with a smile. You were looking for me?" Amy asked. Oh yeah. I was going to say that I found this really awesome piece of coral. You were looking for nice shells and stuff, right?" Charity paused before continuing. "Well, I'll show you when we head back home. I feel up for some volleyball." She gave a small wave before heading back to where the game was being played out. A few seconds passed before either of them decided to speak up. Er... sorry I- About that- They both stuttered. Vanilla turned his head towards her and smiled. "You go first. She blushed lightly, looking away. "Sorry about what happened, I didn't mean to do that. That was embarrassing. Sorry again. Heh, no, it's okay, and I'm the one who's sorry. I shouldn't have snuck up like that. Another silent moment passed by. So, uh... you wanna play some volleyball?" Vanilla asked. No thanks." Amy replied, walking closer to the shore and staring out at the setting sun. Vanilla watched as the breeze played with her hair. "The sunset is perfect, isn't it? Wha?" Vanilla snapped out of his reverie, his thoughts broken by her voice. "Oh. Yeah, it's beautiful." He bit his tongue to stop from adding 'like you' to his statement. He slowly made his way towards the shore, nearly to where the waves touched his toes. Something brushed up against his shoulder. "Hmm?" He looked over to see Amy's head resting there, a content smile spread across her face. Vanilla felt his face heat up as she slowly linked her arm though his and sighed happily. "A-Amy? What're you- Shh. Just listen to the waves." Amy whispered. ~*~ Vanilla waited a few seconds before turning the doorknob and realising that her front door was unlocked. That probably meant she was home. "Amy?" He asked, looking into his friend's house. He heard a muffled voice coming from upstairs - it sounded melodic. He made his way up the stairs, looking for the source of the voice. He found himself in front of an open door, staring at the back of the pink-furred kacheek he'd been looking for. Sweet melodies slipped gracefully from her lips, the music carrying out the wind*w to the world. She was leaning on the wind*wsill, smiling out at the land. Vanilla stood, unmovingly at the doorframe. After a moment or so, Amy finished her song. So Vanilla, what did you think?" She asked, still standing in the same spot, still staring out at the happy scene of the outside. Vanilla blinked, a smile spreading across his face. "It was beautiful. Amy turned, a sparkle evident in her eyes. "Thank you." She bit her tongue, as if wondering how to word something. Vanilla noticed this. "What is it? Her mouth opened, only to shut again. Amy looked away, an almost sad expression on her face. "I've been called to an audition. A private one." "Isn't that good news?" Vanilla asked, confused. "I thought you wanted to be a singer? Amy nodded. "Except... this audition is in Faerieland. It's pretty far away, and... um... well... I don't really know what'll happen if this audition goes well. I know that I want to go ahead with this career, but... Vanilla stared, unsure of what to say. I guess we'll just go through with it and see what happens... Vanilla nodded. "It'll work out. Amy smiled. "I really hope it does. ~*~ -unfinished- Age: 47372 hours Level: 8 Strength: 16 Speed: 9 Defence: 10 Endurance: 12 Intelligence: 16 ![]() You suddenly notice the wadjet coiled around his arm. You decide, smiling at the petpet. Vanilla nods. "Mmhm. Wadjets make a good companion. Er, in my opinion anyway." He smiles faintly.
