Prologue
Mudfeather gazed up at the former Heartclan cats, exhausted from the 8 lives she had received. Only one more to go and she'd be Heartclan's leader...
I hope I don't let my clan down... she murmured to herself, half expecting herself to collapse at any moment. But I must remain strong.
Suddenly, a red tom with eerie markings walked towards her, an heir of mystery and power fizzling in the air around him. She sniffed the air suspiciously, her eyes gazing at him with wonder. But he did not smell of Heartclan. Who was he?
He stopped right before her. He dipped his head, his liquid red eyes boring into Mudfeather's. He smelt of something that reminded her of the sun and the sea. Who was this cat?
Mudfeather," he said, knowledge in every syllable. His words seemed to engulf everything she had ever learned. With that, he whipped his head in the air and hissed something that chilled her very soul.
Chapter 1
While restocking prey for the hungry clan, a hunting party catches a lot of prey in hopes of restocking the dwindling fresh-kill pile. But suddenly, Mudstar spots a dead rabbit under a bush. After pulling it out, the patrol is shocked to find that maggots are living in the rotting rabbit. Seeing it as a sign from Starclan that something is wrong, the cats collect their kill and travel back to the camp to announce the news of the rotting rabbit.
The clan is outraged and distressed as they realize that something is happening. If only they knew of the prophecy, then perhaps they would realize the full scale of the danger they were in.
Clan life goes on as usual besides the fact that every cat in Heartclan is weary and tense. But later that day Oakpaw travels to the training ground to practice his battle moves. Suddenly, a fox attacked the young apprentice, severely injurying him. Even though Oakpaw put up a good fight, the fox knocked him unconcious just as a patrol come to his rescue. Instead of killing the fox, the deputy Swift-talon, finds sympathy for the fox for it smelt of milk and let her run away.
The group take Oakpaw's bloody body to the camp and lay him there, unable to help their fallen comrade. "Mudstar.... he's dead." Stormsong mews, grief welling in every cat's heart. Nightpaw, finding affection for Oakpaw only after his death, accuses Swift-talon. "We should have killed it!" Hissed the apprentice, defending her dead clanmate. But there was nothing anyone could do; Oakpaw was dead, and it seemed that a piece of the clan was missing. The apprentice den would be one short that night.
Enough." Growled Mudstar. "We must not quarrel in front of Oakpaw's body. We must not disrespect his life this way. He died as a true warrior and he deserves to be treated as such." Mudstar stepped up to the apprentice's body.
I say these words under the spirits of our ancient ancestors so that they may approve my decision. Oakpaw trained as a loyal and fierce clan member and died as a true Warrior. He never gave up and deserves to be honored for his fierce determination. I grant Oakpaw his Warrior name, Oakfire, as he goes to live with Starclan. May they receive him well.
Oakfire joins Starclan as a true warrior, and it seems that the clan is content with his new name. "Oakfire! Oakfire!
But not everything is at piece. Nightpaw has sworn vengeance towards the deputy for not killing the fox, and Fawnflight's affection for him grows. Not only that, but Mudstar is doubting her own role as leader.
Starclan, help us!
Chapter 2
Now that the fox kits are killed and buried, the clan's tension seems to have eased its way to the normal level...or perhaps not.
Nightpaw and Swifttalon are still locked in a ferocious hatred for each other. Mudstar is uneasy with her own apprentice and plans to try and keep her in line.
But all in all, the clan is recovering from the rotten rabbit scare and the attack of the fox mother that lead to Oakfire's death.
However, the ominous prophecy still weighs above every cat's head. Who will it strike next? Was Oakfire's death a coincidence after all?
For hate will come to catch you soon,
Chilling the heart and covering the moon.
The clan's fate is now just unraveling...
Chapter 3
Echoheart and Mossflame are now strangely attracted to each other and have just become aware of the feeling that they should be together. Mossflame had try to escape, but failed. Her "punishment" from trying to escape is having to STAY in Heartclan. However, she attempts to escape again in the night. Out of camp, she runs into Echoheart, and Mossflame is torn between love and freedom. She chooses both, and Echoheart comes with her to the vast unknown. However, a cat overheard their plans, but swore not to tell... A patrol traced Echoheart and Mossflame's scent as far as the border within the North Forest, but dared not to go any farther. A few cats thought about going after them, but a rainstorm washed away any trace of a scent.
Back at camp, nothing bad has been happening - yet.

Territory
Southern Forest
The Southern Forest is a thin stand of trees with thick pinestraw covering the forest floor. The canopy is thin so that light easily penatrates the tree limbs. It is easily illuminated. Mainly deer live in these parts, as well as voles, mice, squirrels, rabbits, and large birds. The Southern Forest is mainly used for patrols and some hunting.
Northern Forest
The Northern Forest is a thick layer of trees, undergrowth, moss, lichen, and other plants. Unlike the southern forest, the northern forest barely gets any light. It houses many
reptiles, birds of prey, large insects, squirrels, voles, mice, small mammals, and other creatures. The northern forest is mainly used for patrol, hunting, shelter, and exploring for younger cats.
Tear Lake
Tear lake is a small, tear shaped lake. It has a small half bridge with a few good places where you can catch prey. The lake is abundant with fish, but many twolegs visit here as well.
Snake River
Snake River is a strong, snake-shaped river that is practically impossible to pass. A cat can easily be swept away by its strong currents, and many twolegs can be seen in their vessels riding down the river as the picture above shows. Snake River isn't a good food source since most cats won't risk getting the fish for they may fall in.
Cascading Waterfall
The Cascading Waterfall is a falling column of water that produces a cloud of mist 24/7. The mist provides a mossy terrain for the surrounding land and the abundance of wildlife that lives here is a paradise for any cat...except the journey here is treacherous and any cat could easily fall into the churning waters. Although squirrels and mice are common, the noise usually drives prey away and the moisture content in the air is overpowering. Cats come here to visit the moon cave beside the waterfall to consult Starclan or to receive their lives as leaders.
