 Avie's Agency:
An Introduction
What is Avie's Agency?
Avie's Agency is a small adoption agency dedicated to finding new homes for abandoned Neopets. Although affiliated to the Neopian Orphanage, this agency works independently and on its own terms.
Who runs Avie's Agency?
*raises hand* I do. Call me Dream or DC. I'm a twenty-something student Brit with a passion for making Neopia a better place. Helping me are four fantastic pets, Avie, 'Stat, Jachinthe and Laurrie, who've been the helpers and mascots of the agency from the start.
How does the fostering process typically work?
Pets are taken from the Neopian Pound and kept on one of my accounts. Once I've confirmed that they are genuinely without an owner, the pets are treated with the Lab Ray to change their appearance. They will also be played with, read to, and provided with their own toys, trinkets and Petpets. Next, mail is accepted from Neopians who think they could offer the foster pet a good home. They are interviewed to choose the best possible new owner.
Do you have any Neopets for trade?
Absolutely not.
Can you zap my pet for me?
Sorry, no. It's against the rules, and besides, it'd use up my transfers. Those things are like gold dust.
Why do all your fosters have such weird names?
It's a little obsession of mine ^_^ There seems to be a lot of "pet elitism" going on among foster parents at the moment, where only perfectly named pets can become lab mice. The fact is, there's a lot of homeless pets that deserve homes just as much, but don't happen to have such perfect names. Helping them is just my decision. If it really bothers you, I can point you to some fabulous foster parents who mostly take in pets with less peculiar names.
Why was my application for (pet's name) rejected?
Most likely, you didn't read the rules clearly enough. However, I'll always try to tell you what you did wrong.
Can I apply for (Sharalik, Nelly, Silvercloud, Lila, Becky, Blue, Avie, 'Stat, Jachinthe, Laurrie, Desi, Mem, Maddie)?
I've said it on the rules page, but it bears repeating: if a pet's status is not specifically listed on his or her lookup, assume he or she is NOT up for adoption. I will always mark my fosters clearly as such.
Will it help my application if I give you an item?
Quite the opposite: if I suspect you're trying to bribe me or swap a pet for an item, you'll be out of the door before you can say Meepits. Do not demean my pets by suggesting they can be bought, and do not belittle my hard work by trying to buy your way through the application process.
Is Avie the same Eyrie as "Avi Girl" from your story "Starshine"?
Yes. While Avi Girl is blue and Avie is white, they are the same Neopet at different stages in her life.
I have a pet I can't care for any more. Will you take her?
Firstly, I'll need to have space for the pet. I often don't, you may have to wait. Secondly, the pet must fit the normal requirements of any foster I take on (unpainted, not LE, no vulgar or offensive names). Thirdly, you must agree to the Declaration of Transferred Care below.
Why do you require applications? / Isn't what you do illegal? / Couldn't this be considered cruelty to Neopets?

What got you interested in what you do?
I can't remember what first gave me an interest in fostering in general-- I just seem to have fallen into it, like a square peg into a square hole. However, fairly early on in my fostering career I was influenced by several Neopian Times stories about homeless pets with unfortunate names, notably one called "It Was Never Really There", and resolved to make a difference to pets without much hope of adoption.
Declaration of Transferred Care
(for those planning to send one of their pets to Avie's Agency)
Please read and agree to the following declaration before transferring your pet.
In giving my pet (pet's name) the (Species) into the care of Avie's Agency, I accept that all responsibility for his/her future is now in the hands of his/her new foster parent Dream, although I will be informed of the outcome of the fostering process. I realise, however, that on the successful adoption of (pet's name) by a new owner, s/he is no longer Dream's responsibility. I understand that the fostering process involves changes to a Neopet's colour, and sometimes to its species or gender, and I accept that such random changes will probably happen to (pet's name). If (pet's name) is in possession of toys, grooming items, or a Petpet, I understand that such items will be kept with him/her wherever s/he may go, and not sold or returned to me. If I do not specify anything about the personality and preferences of (pet's name), Dream will consider herself free to work on them herself, and to add favourite toys and a Petpet if these are also absent. I accept that this transfer of ownership from my account to Dream's is a form of abandonment; having considered my decision carefully before placing (pet's name) in the Agency's care, I will not demand the return of my pet at any time (although should the pet be returned to the Agency by his/her new adoptive owner due to unavoidable circumstances, I will be perfectly entitled to ask for him/her back.)
