Serilina

Ever wonder how people get those snazzy backgrounds in their shops and lookups? Lanalor did! So he set out on a quest to discover just what the secret to pretty-a-fying was. Lanalor found out... but that wasn't the only secret he uncovered...

This is the story of analor's uest.

It all started when Lanalor decided he was sick and tired of boring old white. His mum, Serilina, owned a shop that was white, her lookup was white, even Lanalor's very own lookup was white! He asked Serilina if she could help him redecorate, but she explained to him that she was too busy buying him and his siblings school supplies for when school finally started (ahem!). At Lanalor's crestfallen -disallowed_word-like this one). For your lookups, a coding style called CSS, is used. CSS was like a more advanced HTML, Morongames said. The user Astres posted a reply on the board saying, "The petpage has heaps of stuff to teach you how to make a snazzy lookup... that page is the best for teaching you how to use CSS! Go and have a look", which is precisely what Lanalor planned to do. Serilinas sister, Rachael0007 saw Lanalor's post and told him to go to the that TNT (The Neopets Team) wrote to help people just like him. Rachael0007 explained that it had all the info on how to make your shop look extra cool.

So armed with all that useful knowledge, Lanalor set off to find some nice looking backgrounds for the shop and his lookup. He knew that backgrounds were the most important part of the redecorating - backgrounds just set the whole mood of the page! He decided to wander the shops of Neopia first, to see what background his feet would lead him to. Firstly he stopped off in the shop of Hawaiiscutie8. She had a great fast food shop, and a wicked background to match! mmmm, yummy! Then it was around the corner and off to Gallery7s potion gallery. I bet he keeps Kauvra in business! Lanalor visited many shops after the gallery that day, including that of Imperial_Zanmato and My_Kelpie_Dusty. All had really great backgrounds!! They all looked similar somehow... kind of familiar... how odd!! Lanalor was walking along puzzling over this when he came to the final shop of the day, a kiko themed shop owned by MDavis888 ...

Lanalor strolled in, and stopped still in the doorway - there in front of him was a sign. A huge sign that made everything so clear!! That's why all the backgrounds had looked so familiar!! That explained sooo many things... why Serilina was always busy locked away in her room, why people smiled and greeted her when she went down the shops, and why she didn't want to help Lanalor decorate the shop and lookups... Can you guess what the sign said? Well, here it is:

All this time Serilina had been a secret artist, creating Neopets backgrounds for users and pets who wanted to add a bit of spice to their lookup... Lanalor was soooo proud of his Serilina... and look, wasn't that a handsome lad on the sign ;)

When Lanalor confronted Serilina with his new knowledge, she laughed, and agreed to help him create some backgrounds of his very own, for their shop and lookups. Serilina promised never to try and hide things from Lanalor again...

And so ends analor's uest.

Lanalor has collected some of his favourite Serilina made backgrounds here for you to use. He knows how much trouble he had to go to to get a pretty lookup, and he hopes that this page makes it a bit easier for you. There's all sorts of designs here, from pets, to petpets, and to items. It's all in one place. And in keeping with Neopets rules and regs, it free. Lanalor and Serilina enjoy making these backgrounds, and feel it would be a shame not to share them with others. This page is very graphics intensive (as a backgrounds page ought to be) so it may take a while to load. Be patient. It's worth it!

DIRECTIONS:
After picking the background you want, you need to decide if it will be going into your shop or into your lookup. As was explained to Lanalor, the coding required for each is different. Once you've decided where it will be going, highlight all the text in the box that matches where you want the background to go (ie shop box or lookup box). Copy it by clicking EDIT>>COPY in the menu bar.

FOR YOUR SHOP:
In neopets, click on the icon in the yellow menu bar on the left of the screen. Then go to your shop (the second icon from the left on the shops page). Click on the link called CREATE/EDIT A SHOP. In the shop description box, paste in the code you copied from here. Then click on the UPDATE SHOP button. You should now have a great background in your shop!

FOR YOUR LOOKUP:
In Neopets, click on the icon in the yellow menu bar on the left of the screen. Then up the top of the screen click on the icon. Make sure you fill in the first text box (under your user name) correctly, then paste the code you copied from here into the 'about me' section. Click the CHANGE YOUR DETAILS button. You should now have a great background in your lookup!
