Here are the rules that you must follow :
- Please be active. If you do not post or show some sign of still being alive for a week, you will be notified. If you are not active by the end of the month, you will be deleted (you'll be free to join again, but your rank will be reset).
- Please read this website or at least know what is here.
- We are a semi-literate guild. Chatspeak is anything shortened (e.g. sum1, ttyl, brb, g2g, lol). Please try to avoid it by speaking in complete, punctuated, and capitalized sentences so that everyone can understand you.
- If Elmo wouldn't like it said to him, don't say it to anyone else. In short, don't be insulting or argumentative.
- Don't curse. This is a serious offence on Neopets, let alone the guild.
- No romance or anything inappropriate. Anything not suitable for eight-year-olds (no offence to eight-year-olds!) is not suitable for this guild.
- Also, please enable guild mailings. Just go to "My Account," then to Preferences, then check the third checkbox down.
- And, although this should be obvious due to the nature of the guild, I am going to say it anyway. The guild board is not for drama! Take petty arguments elsewhere.

Our goal at the Helping Paws Adoption Center is to help abandoned pets find a good home and brighten their experience getting there by giving them a loving foster home to live in while they await the day they will finally be taken into the arms of a new parent.
Additionally, we aim to prevent the degrading of pets and the treating of them as objects that has come with the new pound feature. (The treating of pets as objects extends fully to the "trading" of pets.)
Finally, we hope that this benevolence will expand to the real world and one's treatment of animals and other human beings.

You don't have to be a member of the guild to adopt, so if you want to adopt a pet, you must follow the following steps:
- Neomail the person fostering the pet with an application containing the following:
- The status and personalities of your current pets
- How long you've been on Neopets (You must be 4 Months to transfer).
- Why you're trustworthy and a good owner
- At least two usernames of people who will vouch that you are a good owner
- Anything else you find important
- Wait for their reply. The fosterer of the pet is at their own liberty to give you the pet. Do not pester him or her.
- If it is yes, follow their instructions from there on out. (They will be following the instructions under the "How to Foster" and "Transferring Pets" links, so if your instructions don't match those, please neomail lotsabots!)
A simple neomail application will suffice. You don't need to get too fancy.

Fostering is as optional as roleplaying in this guild, but if you want to take in a pet while you find her or him a home, here are the rules and steps to follow:
- Adopt a pet from the pound. It can be any pet you want, but please don't make one.
- Give them a petpet, zap them (if you have the lab ray), train them, and make them more presentable to the possible owners
- After you get them to the desired phase (preferably painted or trained to a high level), submit them to Lotsa via neomail. (The submission should contain the pet's name, the username at which you wish to be contacted about this pet, and an optional brief description of the pet.)
- Simply wait for someone to neomail you asking about the pet. Be sure not to get impatient and say yes to the first reply. Read over all applicants carefully to decide, and make sure all of them include what was asked of them in the "How to Adopt" section. Do not consider anyone with four pets or whose pets are sad (except from illness).
- Once you've decided, read the section of this page on transferring pets to other accounts.

Follow these instructions when transferring a pet from one account to another:
- You MUST use the transfer system in the pound.
- Make sure the account you are sending the pet to has at least 1,000 Neopoints on hand, less than four Neopets and someone there to receive the pet.
- Remember: You can only transfer one Neopet per month, and any adopter can only receive one Neopet per month.
- Now that you've read that, set a time or day for the transfer with the person you're transferring with.
- Be sure that everything is set before you begin the transfer.
- You need at least 1,000 NP to pay for the transfer.
- Be sure that you haven't transferred another pet that month.
- Be sure that the adopter hasn't received another pet through transfer that month.
- Be sure that the adopter has enough Neopoints to pay for the adoption fee.
- As soon as everything's ready, send the foster into the transfer system, making sure that you type in the exact username of the adopter.
- Hopefully, the adopter will be on the other end of the transfer within a day to accept the pet. The pet can stay in the transfer system for three days (during which no creations of pets or adoptions of pets can occur for either party), though this is undesirable.
- If it is successful and the pet reaches a good owner, neomail Lotsa.

She excitedly plopped down on the ground, and uncovered the containers, preparing them for the collection of fresh water...

- When the normal chat is becoming monotonous, someone might choose to spice it up by declaring a Rolepaly Day. We may choose a plot or we may
simply roleplaying out the happenings in the guild as they happen. So, if you've just adopted a new foster, have the foster, you, or your pets come in and talk about it! The setting is the neohome on the hpacdonations account . Right now, all we need is furniture, and Lotsa is working very hard on furnishing it, but with the rising prices, she could certainly use your help and would appreciate it. (Though this is completely up to you.) We'll eventually add a top floor just for the foster dorms to this neohome, but for now, we just have the one floor. Should be fun, no?

The longest-running program we have is our donation shop. Our HPAC Donations Shop is connected directly to our guild till.
Charity Auctions are where you can offer on various HPAC items to raise money for the guild. All proceeds to the hpacdonations Guild Till. These are events that happen occasionally when we are raising money for a specific thing.

Our main Petpet Adoption Agency is run by Wolf (mystical_white_wolf). You can see all of the petpets up to adoption through her here. To adopt these petpets, neomail your application to Wolf.
If you would like to foster a petpet, you have the option of keeping the petpet on your account or sending it to Wolf's gallery. If you would like to keep the petpet on your account, please neomail Lotsa and the petpet will be listed here. If you would like your foster petpet to go to Wolf and the main group, neomail Wolf
If you would like to adopt a petpet, neomail its fosterer with the following information:
- The pet who will become the new owner of the petpet.
- The reasons your pet wants to care for the petpet.
- The personality of your pet.
- The name the petpet will be given and if the petpet will be painted any color.
There are currently no petpets being fostered outside of Wolf's care.

In our guild, we have five guild member levels of Hierarchy and they are explained as follows:
Friendly - This is the level that anyone who enters the guild for the first time is.
Patron - This level is reached after having been in the guild for one month.
Excellent - This level is reached after having successfully fostered a pet and given him or her to a good owner.
Lab Mapper - This is a title given to anyone in the guild who has a lab map and can zap their fosters. These members also have another title but it is not displayed.
Trustworthy - This title can be given to a member that a council member feels is totally trustworthy, and can be lent valuable items with the knowledge that they will be returned. Specifically, that a member of council knows personally.

This feature is only available to Trustworthy members or above and is funded by the donations shop. Members will choose through a poll whether to fund this or not each month. The avatar library consists of items, pets and petpets.
If you are zapping a foster and they turns into an avatar pet that we do not already have in our care, it is your choice whether you give them to us to put on a side account or keep them as a foster. If you do chose to give them to us, we will try to fit them with a petpet (if they're not too attached to their own) that will obtain an avatar as well.

Neoschool is available to all guild members pets who are under the intelligence ranking of ULTIMATE GENIUS. All pets at or above ULTIMATE GENIUS are eligible teachers.
Neoschool, like the avatar library, is funded by the donations shop. Members will vote on whether or not to fund this. If the proceeds are sent to this, a percentage will go to each student's books. Each student will have a till that is equal to those around. The tills are listed below by each student's name along with the guardian of the student. The school grades are also listed. Those in preschool, pre-K and kindergarten will be also given a toy. A green name indicates that the pet is a foster. If you have any questions, please neomail Lotsa.
