If you've ever browsed through the Neopian Pound, certainly you've seen the endless plethora of miserable pets with long, unpronounceable names with countless underscores and numbers. And the sad truth is that many will sit there for days, weeks, and maybe even months on end without ever finding a home, because of how they were named.
But that's why Kiearyn's Untaken Names is here. At this page, you will find a complete list of unique-sounding names names A-Z, all number and underscore free!

Benefits to Naming Your Pet Well

You might be asking yourself, why should I name my pet well? What difference does it make? There are many good reasons to create your pet with a good sounding name. You might think it's cute or funny to name a pet something that makes no sense or has 10 different numbers and 5 underscores after its name. But in the end, it won't get you or your pet anywhere on this site. Down the line, you may want to trade your pet for another pet. But when you have a badly named pet, people won't want it regardless of what its color is. And when the day comes that you leave this site and put your pet in the pound, it will sit there day in and day out without ever being adopted, being passed up again and again. The bottom line is that people won't adopt badly-named pets. There's already enough pets out that have been sitting in the pound for years. So if you're going to create a badly-named one, you might as well not create one at all.

During limited edition pet days, the names tend to be used up more quickly than other days. Please be patient. I will do my best to remove taken names as quickly as possible.

When I run across a well-named pet that is stuck in the pound, I will post it here. Please check out the current featured stuck pet(s) . It could be just the pet you're looking for.

UPDATES 5/26/12- Several new names added. Enjoy!

5/23/12- 8 taken names (+ one mistake) were removed from the list. Unfortunately I wasn't notified about any of them. Please NM me if you have taken a name. I cannot stress that enough. It will only take a moment and you save a lot of hassle by making that simple NM. I promise I don't bite!

I'm making my own pet name page. Can I use some of these names?
Please do not copy any of these names directly. If you need any help with making your page, I will be glad to help you. Just NM me.

I used a name from the list but can't NM you because I'm under 13. What should I do?
Please send me a random junk item that starts with the letter of the name of the name you chose. For example, if you used a name that started with "B", send me a Bucket of Sludge. I'll understand what you mean.

How come I have to tell you that I took a name?
By cooperating with this rule, you make it easier on me and on everyone else who wants to use this page. I don't have time to check every name, every single day to make sure it's available. So when people don't tell me and they take a name without NMing me, the name will stay on there, sometimes for a long time until I can get around to checking it. And in the meantime, someone else may have wanted to use that name, only to find it taken, which inconveinences them.

Where do you get your names from?
I find words and names off the web, online dictionaries, and think them up myself. If a name has been taken, I try to think of an alternate spelling or change the letters around to make a name.

I've looked through the list and don't see any names that I like. Could you help me think one up?
