Are you New to Key Quest( KQ )?? Need a step-by-step guide to play this AWESOME game? Well you've come to the right place!! Created this useful guide for you "newbies" at Key Quest!

Mini-Games guide featured here , it displays the basics on how to play and how to win in the Mini-Games*.
Further comments, concerns, questions, suggestions can be submited to either of us, and possible added to an Q&A section.


Q: So, How Do I play Key Quest?
A: Key Quest is a 3D, multi player game. Your goal is to collect the corresponding amount of keys (2 key game = collect two different color keys, same for three key, four key, and five key games) and stand a chance to win these awesome prizes like, paint brushes, red/ normal codestones, neggs, lab maps etc!!!

Entering A Game
A) - These are rooms you can select which room to play in.
B) - is where you create a game and invite/wait other players to join you.
C) - Here you can Mute the Key Quest's theme song.
D) - It randomly selects a room for you.


A) - Shows how many players occupied and also show how many players needed in that game, the faster you select the better the chance you get to join them/he or she, and then click Join Game.
B) - Shows Users enters the room to play, Once they're in a game/left the room, their name vanishes from this box.
C) - Here you can select your token to play(For more tokens, you have to buy realife plushies to redeem the codes)For starters you get a starter token randomly picked by Neopets(there either Green Cybunny; Yellow Poogle; Red Meerca; Blue Bruce)
D) - Same as previous, Create a Game.
E) - This blue font shows a player invites you to his/her game, click on it, Accept if you want play.

Create A Game
A) - Select how many players you want in your game,
B) - Select number of Keys you're playing in that game(if you're in a 5-key room, you don't have to select this part)
C) - Select your game board you want to play in,(there either Haunted Woods, Neopia Central, Terror Mountain, Chocolate board) All boards works the exact same way cept the latest Chocolate Board, the board layout is totally different.
D) - Here you can invite Players
E) - Game topic is also the Game Rooms to play in.



Inviting Player/s!!

A) - Type in your players name to invite, or simply click it on section B, make sure they're already in the room,
B) - Click here to invite players, it will automatically occupies on section A,
C) - Here you can add new neofriends, with this, it can show whether your friend came online into the room

Starting a Game
A) - Welcome to the Waiting Room, now Select the color of the token you want to play in, the "crown" means the player who selected their token color 1st, Wait till other player/s reaches there,
B) - This is the Script Chat, no you can't type your own words here, simply click on it and Select which words you want to use, Warning: this could be a distraction during game play,
C) - When all the players selected their token color, the Die(dice) will appear, Click on it, one with most number get to go 1st.
D) - After the dice roll, it shows you which "house" you want to start in, Click on one, This is also strategic move during game play,
E) - This door will "glow" once all player/players are in and selected their house,
F) - This is the exit door, if theres a glitch in the waiting room, you may exit through here and start over again.

Playing A Game


A) - Click on the dice, wait till its done rolling and then click OK - 15 seconds timer!!
B) - This is the Power-Ups section, it will be "bold" like this once you received a power-up, Click on it to use one, - 15 seconds timer!!
C) - Here shows what power-up you received, you can only store to up 3 power-ups. When received read the "card", read well on its uses,
D) - Shows the key you get when you landed on a key, Collect each color and go to the "Key Door" door 1st to win!


E) - You can close Script Chat pressing this button, it will "blink" if your opponent post a chat,
F) - Map of this board, exact same how the board layout is in the game play, its best you plan your game well too!!.



A) - Click on the Arrow you decided to move your direction at, - 10 seconds timer!!
B) - Game-play mini guide, also shows you the "timer" too,
C) - This is the "Key-Door", once you've collected each key color, go here 1st to win!!!
D) - Shows the number of your dice rolled.

Know your squares!!


Left Column: (up to down)

- Give all players a "random event/power-up", all gets the same, Warning: might be good, might be bad!
- "X" marks the spot, yay Treasure Chest!! Grants you a power-up and a Key you get to choose!
- Gives you bonus neopoints!
- Mini-Game square, Get ready!!!
- Start and Finish square
- Power-Up square, gives you a power-up yay!
- Portal square, travels you to the other portal,
- Neopoints square, yay!

Right Column:

- Alignment square, you must know what alignment your token is, it grants you super power-ups!!

When you received a Power-Up, be sure to read the card well and know how/when to use it, Plan ahead!

Know Your Alignments

To check on it, Click here Key Quest Tokens on your user-lookup,

in your Token Case, it will look like this, Click on it and here it shows you the alignment of you token, Remember them!

- the red underlined there is where you can see what alignment your token is, for e.g this one is Water Alignment,

You can only select up to 6 tokens to your Quick Token List, you may favourite them too, by selecting the tiny boxes there.

---Why remembering your token alignment is important you might ask?? Landing on your token alignment gives you Super Power-Ups and Charms!! BUT if you landed not your alignment square - Bad Luck!!

You'll get Hexes, also known as "Evil Cards" if you landed on different alignments instead!

Settings



To find Settings, it can be found on the Chat area, the "gear icon" thingy circled yellow there, is the Settings, here you can adjust the sound volume, chat transparency etc.

The Vault


To redeem your Keys, Click on the Vault circled red there, you can find it on the Key Quest Main Page.
When you clicked on it, the Vault page shows like the screenie here, Click on the "Gold Key Door" or silver etc. you've won, and your prize will show up in a new page! Yay for the prizes!!


When you click on it, the Vault page shown looks like the screenie here, Click on the "Gold Key Door" (silver key door, lead key, ect.etc.) from the key you've won, this menu will pop-up, Click Yes and your prize will show up in a new page! Yay for the prizes!

Important Do Nots!

DO NOT quit a game because you're losing,(We Hate Quitters!!), you still get the neopoints and
the second/third best prizes!

DO NOT post a "quitters" username on the boards, this is also known as harrasment because you
have no proof this person really quit, they might have poofed due to glitches!

DO NOT keep posting "He/She quit on me" topics on the boards, it floods the board a lot already,
just move on to your next game.

DO NOT purposely skip your turn when a Power-Up used on you, this is also known as cheating
and you could be reported!- Neopian Times Issue 371 Editorial.

DO NOT send rude neomails to a "quitter", they might not purposely quit,
simply ask them politely why they left the game.

DO NOT end the game too soon if you have agreed upon a certain amount of NPs to play to. You could get reported for cheating!

DO NOT exchange for items or neopoints when you giving out token codes to other people, this is
against the rules!

DO NOT scam people with your USED token code, all token codes are One Use.

DO NOT beg people on boards or etc. for token codes, Begging is against the rules! wait till IF
one day a real kind user is giving out free token codes on the Key Quest Board.

DO NOT create a "Quitters" List on your site, good idea yes, but with no proof this is Harrasment!

DO NOT exit your window when your browser frozed during game-play, especially its almost end
of the game/when the person is few steps to the Key Door, leave it for a min or 2 before closing it,
so that you and your opponent would still get your key and prizes and neopoints!
