![]() Whateverch2's Shop GuideThis is a guide for any neopian who wishes to make more neopoints by running a shop. I know most of you don't know HTML. I know most of you don't know the first thing about making a profit. And I know 75% of the people reading this are puzzling over what a shop really is. That's were I'm here to help!
Choosing a ThemeThe first thing about a shop is deciding what you're are going to sell. It is always best to sell items around a category, like a book shop, or a food shop. After that, now you need to choose a color scheme. When you have a color sceme, you can make all your text that color, your background, your images, and just about anything else. If you take a look at my shop, my color scheme is lime green. After you've done all that, you can now choose images to go along with your category. For instance, if you sell petpets, then you will want a few images of petpets. You can also add blogs. You can use your blogs for a number of things, such as wishlists, welcome message, and news updates on your shops.
DecoratingThe second thing you need to know about a shop is that although NOT selling junk helps, the most important thing is making your shop look pretty. You heard me, pretty, P-R-E-T-T-Y, pretty. I know what all of the convinient users are thinking: what's pretty got to do with selling items? I'll tell you: everything. Imagine you're the customer who wants to buy a piece of toast for your pets. Three shops are selling it for the same price. You click on one shop, and it's obvious it belongs to a newbie (no offense newbies). The background is blank, there is no music, no images, no blogs, nothing. Then you click on the next shop. This one is decorated with a black background and images of Dargarian Kougras. Metal Rock is blasting through your loudspeakers. They have a gothic Aisha as the shopkeeper. Rule number one of owning a shop: You're trying to attract customers, not scare them away. Then you click on the third shop. This one has a nice soft background. It has a few images here and there, but not too many. They're even playing your favorite song. Now you tell me which shop you want to go to. To decorate your shop, you must first learn HTML. I don't have a guide to learning the basics of HTML, but if you click on my Aisha, she has links to people who can help you.
RestockingWhat is restocking? Restocking is buying more items for the category you sell. To restock, you can either buy the item from the shop it is found in, or you can purchase the item from another user. It depends on what your selling to decide where to buy your items from. For instance, books usually go out quickly at the book shops, so you'll make more if you catch the book shop when it's stocked. But some food shops, like the desert shop, sell burnt food for two-hundred neopoints, but most users sell it for less than half that price. The rule I go by for restocking is 200 or nothing. This basically means if I know I can't sell it for more than 200 neopoints in profit, I won't buy it at all.
