These are just a few notes about Riverclan. I included this section because the Warriors series revolves mainly around Thunderclan so it is a little harder to roleplay as a Riverclan cat. Here are some little things that may make imagining easier.

NOTE: I have realized that many of these notes coincide with the Riverclan territory in the first series. The cats have moved to the lake since then and as such, found a new home. I have done research and found some news that describes Riverclan's new home. We will follow the lake territory! (Updated last 9/19/09)

About Riverclan

1. Riverclan cats don't know how to climb trees. They never learned how because they don't need to. Also, they hate the taste of squirrels.
2. Riverclan cats are the best fed clan, they have an entire river that is full of fish. They are the only clan that learns how to fish (and even ice fish!).
3. Obviously, they don't fear water and love to swim.
4. Riverclan cats love beautiful things- they collect shells, rocks, and feathers to decorate their dens with.
5. Riverclan cats have sleek pelts compared to the cats of the other clans and have a 'fishy' odor. [Edit 8/8/2009]- They also are known to have long fur and glossy coats.
6. They are contented, proud, graceful and also noted to be the wisest clan.
7. Riverclan cats don't accept kittypets- they openly ridiculed Rusty/Firestar in the first series and even in the second, they seemed awkward around him. They do accept rouges however (like Sasha).

Riverclan Forest Territory

1. Riverclan's clearing is marshy, spotted with dens that have been described as 'uncomfortable looking' and built out of twigs and branches. Erin Hunter used a heron's nest to describe it. (I personally thought of a beaver dam when I first read about Riverclan dens.)
2. The camp is hidden by reed beds.
3. The dens are made out of sticks because 'they float if it floods
4. The ground is mainly made up of wet peat and open marshland.
5. Riverclan cats have a tiny bit of forest territory (made up of riverside trees) next to the river. They can hunt rodents- mice, shrews, voles- but they prefer fish.
6. The entrance to the camp is a woven wall of reeds (and ferns) that the cats squeeze through
7. A small stream borders the camp.
8. Twolegs are a problem in greenleaf- they like to swim and scare fish and they might even take a cat home with them! (They litter too so be careful not to eat something that could get you sick!)

Riverclan Lake Territory

From Secret of the Clans by Erin Hunter:
1. Riverclan camp- safely tucked away on a triangle of land between two streams, this camp is well sheltered from weather and enemy attack, with easy access to a consant source of prey.
2. The cats can swim to their island camp, wade through the shallow water, or find stones to jump across
3. The lake territory has a bunch of lush trees and forests with streams that empty into the lake. The cats are learning to fish in the lake (it's apparently harder than fishing in the river).
4. The nursery is made of brambles
