The Hatching

Julcie was born in the back alleys of Darigan Citadel. It was a stormy day, and the ancient, battered hovel that she later learned to call home was not at all waterproof. Water poured through gaps in the roof, soaking the three neopets in the single room. A Darigan Skeith paced up and down the length of the room, a Ghost Korbat hung from the rafters, half asleep, and a Skunk Aisha kneeled over something on a floor. She was watching a small purple egg rock back and forth on the floor. The small object was riddled in cracks, cobwebbing all over it.

Suddenly a piece of the shell broke off. Another followed suit, and then a third. Finally the egg shattered, and there lay a tiny Darigan Eyrie. Not all of her feather were the characteristic shade of purple, however. The ends of her wing feathers were a shocking blue, and she had okapi stripes on her tail the same shade. The Skunk Aisha leaned over the newly hatched Eyrie and said one word. ''Julcia.
