Let us tell you a little about the Scroll & Quill

The Scroll & Quill has been around for 3 years. 3 YEARS! We are a guild for those out there who love to read, write, or just hang out and talk. This guild is that safe haven because the members are friendly, and they don't hesitate to recommend a book, or to critique someone's work in progress. Once a fantasy filled wonderland with over 70 members, we are now a small and humble group of diverse personalities and interests.

Rules

There aren't many, but please take them seriously

1. Be friendly and respectful! This isn't a gladiator pit, this is a guild where you can make friends.

2. This is a semi-literate guild. Please try not to over abbreviate your messages to the point that no one has any idea what you intended to say.

3. When posting, please make your message at least 2 sentences to prevent clogging the board with short posts. (i.e. Hi, How is everyone, Is anyone here? Etc)

4. Don't scam members or spam messages on the guild board.

5. Above all please obey Neopets's T&C.

6. Lastly, stay active. We understand that the guild is not your priority, but keep in mind that when you join you make a commitment to participate so we expect a post or two every couple of weeks at the least. If you are unable to do so due to an issue in the real world, please contact Nikki :D

Critiquing

Helping and giving feedback

Okay, so for those of you looking for critiques, and for those of you who give critiques, please keep these things in mind:

•Please ask nicely for critiques. It is not required for members to give critiques, it is out of the goodness of their hearts that they do so, so please if you ask, be polite.

•Critiques are made for you to further your growth as a writer. The feedback is just a suggestion. Don't take things personally if someone doesn't like what you have written.

•If you are giving someone a critique, do not completely trash their work and say how much you hate it. Try to keep your feedback constructive and helpful so that the author can edit well.

•You are not required to make all or any of the changes someone suggests if you don't want to.

•Don't expect someone to make all or any of the changes you suggest if you critique.

Here is how it works:

The S&Q holds to the ideas of loyalty and friendship, that being said, we don't delete members. If you choose to join the guild and this family, we will never throw you out (unless you start breaking a bunch of rules!). Even if you aren't big on socializing on the board, you can still be counted as an active member by participating in activities.

If you are new…

Here is what you need to do start on

1. Introduce yourself to the guild via guild board! To prevent confusion and forgetfulness, we ask that you please put your name somewhere in your siggy.
2. Make sure you have read all the information at the Info Desk, and taken a quick look at the current issue of The Nib Newsletter.
3. Enable guild mailing! Sometimes the S&Q will send out reminders or updates through guild mailing so it is important that we are able to contact you that way.
4. GO HAVE FUN!! What is the point of joining a guild if you aren't allowed the time to enjoy it? :D
