Hello Krystal, or Reece? Or Krystal. Or- Well Hello. My name is Alias, and this is my application for Iybus, the male magma krawk. We've spoken briefly on the boards - where I just about attacked you with questions - and now that I've started writing, I mostly hope that this application stands out, and I hope even more, that it stands out in a good way.

Now, first things first. My application will not feature 'why me' for the simple reason this entire application is a 'why me' section.
Additionally, my application will be ordered with the sections about me before those about Iybus.

I'm not currently sure about conventions, but when I was more involved with the application community, it was often suggested that about the pet should come first. Personally, I disagree for several reasons;

1. I prefer a build-up throughout the application. Boring stuff first, cool stuff further in.

2. I think the character of the applicant has more importance in deciding future ownership than the concepts or ideas that a person might have. Good person with average design over bad person with amazing design, sort of thing.

3. I believe a real person and their efforts are more important than a virtual pet.

So now that little bit of stuff is out of the way, let's get onto this far too notorious about me section!

About Me

Well, my name is Alias, as I said. This does give me the opportunity to make the joke that my Alias is Alias, which gets real old for some people.

Well, I enjoy writing, and attempting to draw, as well as constructed linguistics and insurance law. I'm studying full-time at an arts/law combined degree, which should hopefully eventuate in me passing my bar and lawyering it up. As it were.

On neopets I enjoy the aforementioned writing, attempting to draw, as well as roleplay, entering the BC (when the inclination strikes) and fostering pets. At the moment I have four pets UFA at that.

Why Iybus?

I have already spoken to you briefly about this, but to recap?

I applied for Iybus ages back, but did so quite late! To be blunt, my application was terrible, the design was in its earliest stages. You can see the hideous thing to the left. Yeah, that was it I:

Quite obviously, I didn't get Iybus; shoddy work is rarely rewarded after all, or at least work that was thrown together in a couple of hours or so. So I eventually adopted Ignottus, morphed to Krawk and painted red, with the intent of using the character on him. Well, that fell rather flat.

Now that Iybus is back up for adoption - and Ignottus as well haha - it's strange how quickly inspiration came back for the character. I figure this is a second shot, one where I can invest a bit more time and thus effort to it.

Why Iybus? Pretty clearly because it doesn't work if it isn't Iybus.

Plans

My plans for Iybus are pretty cut and dry, as it were. Like the rest of my pets, I intend to finish a petpage, and petlookup. Follow up with roleplay and art in the BC.

Now I don't necessarily have any expectation of success in the Beauty Contest - to be sure, I'm not even sure if the design would be allowed in. However, it looks krawkish enough to me to attempt it, and even then I can water it down.

I am also unsure of the paintbrush I would use on Iybus, although I am considering pink, purple, split and camouflage. I am thinking of going for purple in the meantime, but keeping my eye on future colour updates.

I also intend to give Iybus a faerie drugal for a petpet, more information below in the story parts of course.

Customization-wise, it will either be Malicious Dark Faeries Background or Maractite Caverns Background. The latter is featured on soundwave's petlookup, and the former is fairly cheap to buy, although I already have it.

As regards to where I will get the neopoints for the brush and the petpet brush, I have at the moment about 5 million np sitting in my bank account, which should ideally cover everything. I can provide a screenie if you'd like c:

I see my accounts as something of a compass, along with having an environment sort of thing related to the account. For all extents and purposes aliasdefeat_d is my main account, as well as center on my compass.

Clannad

Yengh's species was brought to Earth to maintain a terraform - particularly the ecology. However, through happenstance she is the only member of her species - a stereotype that makes her a bit of a whiny martyr. She is determined to live up to her duties to protect the planet of the absent masters and begins so by culling the human population. She ends up surviving on an island with a human named Alastair Lachlan. They discuss morality and concede the other has a point, but do not have a way to compromise. Both of them realize that neither of them are wrong and that means they cannot live together - as species.

Yengh was the eleventh draik I applied for - and the only one successfully. Her character is one of my oldest and has been in progress and under slow alteration for almost ten years.

Disrepair is currently under severe revamp, although previously I had her as a wheel dog in a sled team and is a bit of a mutt. Disrepair herself was a gift from a good friend of mine and has a lot of sentimental value.

Ayuatcl · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Aye is a young mayan kid up for an aztec sacrifice who got lucky, headed to spain to serve the king, and wound up on a pirate ship. He's a little home sick, but not all that homesick since he's not going to be a sacrifice to keep the sun in the sky. He's mildly culture-shocky, and has teeny corgi legs and sails with Sunhdae Callisto, Auravae and Toloriu.

Sereniki · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Sereniki was a commission done by a rather famous art gallery - in its time at any rate. She is a living musical instrument, combining musical score and dance as part of her performance. However, after liquidation, the gallery's exhibits have been sold, traded, occasionally tossed in the garbage, archives and generally mislaid. Sereniki herself ended up on the street busking for her living, and in the company of a defective robotic accompanist: Salieri.

Samarhaa · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Samara is a fury, who feeds off bad moods, anger, grouchiness and the occasional aggravation you get when you just feel grumpy that day. She's well-spoken, and quite interested in research - which is of course rather large given her immortality - and is pleasant enough company, but she enjoys annoying and upsetting people for snacks.

To be honest, Samarhaa is my ultimate dream pet forever and ever. I never thought I'd manage to get an uc darigan pteri, and lo and behold, I have, and I still get excited seeing her.

Auravae · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Still rather in progress, but Auravae is a sea otter who ships with Aye, Sunhdae and Toloriu. On a side note, Auravae is one of the oldest pets I've had and the first successfully applied pet I got, although she was a cloud hissi.

However a friend of mine involved in an internet-cut-out pound transfer lost a hissi that a dear friend of hers (who had since passed on from cancer) and I traded Auravae to get their hissi back. However, I soon set about trading to get Vae back - most successfully.

She's now home and has been a camouflage hissi, and since a faerie lutari and now I am happy with her as a brown lutari.

Cadraira · Pet Lookup · Petpage

A former - and very talented - racer, who grew rather disillusioned with the track life. Defying her parents and her career, Caddie ran off to become a courier cybunny, ferrying letters and packages all over neopia as fast as she can. She runs a little fast in terms of speaking and short attention span. Loves seeing new places and enjoying the world. She was a gift to me from foxxtrot, and I had her painted speckled until I upgraded to the more colour appropriate spotted. Her design was based on mint and caramel.

Soundwaves · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Soundwaves is in a bit of a revamp, but was a self-transmogrify from a pet that I pound surfed for particularly for his name. Sadly non-capitals, but I don't mind at all.

His story - still in redesign - is that he was created as a weapon of war to fight a plague afflicted another species. He happened upon members of his own species, and has since shirked his duties to discover who he is, but is having some trouble truly forgetting what he has trained and lived for.

Yura was a revived prehistoric insectal dragon, considered a now extinct off-shoot of the draik. She's about as tall as a beagle and twice as annoying. She currently resides in a very accurate biosphere at a commercial laboratory in Shenkuu. I applied for the draik Inflicts with her character, and have since created and painted my own draik - although I went for maraquan since it suited the colours better - to fit the character. Still developing a bit, but mostly rounded out.

Arriu is... well... I'm not sure if I want Arriu. At the moment his character is a part-japanese crane scholar who has a gangly dance besides. I'm still thinking it over, and he is just as like to end up with the same character, different character, or be adopted out I:

Zerexis · Pet Lookup · Petpage

Another character from a draik I applied for, this time the draik Zerxis who was taken down in the final round. I have revamped the character somewhat, but the bones of the story are the same - it's mostly the design that's changed.

Rix is a young alchemist's apprentice who unfortunately has a bit of the midas' touch. She's looking rather desperately for a cure, with no help from her solid gold master. He's so heavy she can't even move him from the apothecary.

She's pretty lonely for physical contact and in general, and is terrified of fire, but, unsurprisingly has no issue with monetary funds. Her tears also function as an elixir of life.

Fell is a draik who is 12345680127389 years old which is, in draik years.... 12345680129389 years old. An unfortunately victim of an immortality concoction, with almost nothing of his memory left. It comes back to him in strange chunks, and he is throughly senile.

He has seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. Watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments are lost in time, like tears in rain.

Her name comes from my father's book, and is one of my favourite characters from it. As such, she has no unique character from me, but instead is purely sentimental and will likely house information about my other pets on her petpage. Still very attached to her.

Whilst in a design revamp (just marking layout; going more hawai'ian, possibly, will see how it looks) Avian is a reincarnated phoenix, and as a phoenix gifted fire to (at least some) humans. He has been pursued most of his life for this act of kindness, indeed, even into further lives.

Exhausted, and a little cynical, Avian took roost on a pacific island, well out of the way and has been practicing hobbies as diverse as russian tea ceremony, ikebana, surfing, sand gardens and sand castle building. Surfing in particular as morphed from a constant fear of water, to a favourite activity.

Character Profile

Iybus is a low-ranking, friendly and very impulsive member of the Křovíny species on the world of Újezdt. He likes humans, and finds their creations fascinating, often entering their houses and rearranging things. Unfortunately he is acting in tabu of his culture, something his more conservative friend Skaia reminds him.

Most of his species has placed an edict on the humans sharing their world, due to caution and suspicion. However, whilst the humans cannot always see the Křovíny, they can see their actions (namely Iybus' as he interacts with their belongings and with them) which incites great debate. Further, Iybus inspired a young girl to become not only a xenobiologist, but a xenophysicist, determined to find the ghost that came to her room once.

Due to the debate as to the existence of the Křovíny, Miro and Jane arrive to assert what is happening. Jane quickly, but with help learns to communicate with the Křovíny, although nobody responds. Iybus breaks the edict once again, as he realizes Jane is also not-human, which gives his kind hope they too may be able to come out of hiding

Iybus becomes close friends with both Jane and the xenophysicist Jítka, he has a friendly-enough antagonistic relationship with the Father Trees, and Miro.

World

Iybus lives on the world of Újezdt which is set in the Enderverse by Orson Scott Card. In the Enderverse, humanity wiped out the first aliens they encountered due to not being able to understand one another initially - they did so by using a brilliant young boy named Andrew or Ender to command a military fleet. At the conclusion of the war, Ender is told that he has destroyed all of them, and is promptly completely shaken up, having believed it was all some horrible game.

However, the aliens have left one last chrysalis into the charge of Ender, who travels all over looking for a place for the Hive Queen to live once more. In the course of his journeys he encounters three more alien species, one a creature who lives in the network between the worlds who calls herself Jane and another, the pequeninos of Lusitania, and finally the Descoladores who they have not yet managed to establish communications with.

Újezdt is a bohemian colony that Ender's step-son and Jane travel to. There Jane identifies there is indeed another species present on the planet, though it is often not seen. They seek to strike peace with the species the locals call Křovíny.

Křovíny

Iybus is a member of the Křovíny, and is a lower-level member of the local group of Křovíny. He likes to refer to himself as a male, but in fact is genderless and Miro states that Iybus - in fact - has a rather girlish colour scheme. Iybus is curious, friendly, and fairly impulsive as his species has almost no concept of time whatsoever.

The Křovíny or "Shrubs/Shrubies" in Stark, are in essence time-blind, which is an adaption developed to survive in their multiple dimensions simulataneously, many with different timelines. Their existence in multiple dimensions means they are occasionally visible, and occasionally not, and occasionally visible doing something that will only happen later, or maybe happened before, whereas from the Křovíny perspective, it all happened NOW.

As the locals of Újezdt note, the Křovíny cannot be captured on recording devices and as such anybody who does not see them in person usually refuses to believe they exist. Even if you can see them, or have sometimes seen them, some may believe they are going mad, or that the Křovíny are dangerous, evil, so on.

The dimensional separation has prevented meaningful communication, so there is debate if the Křovíny are non-animals, varelse, or raman, or even djur. Jane and Miro are determined to get to the bottom of the Shrubies.

Aside from being in multiple dimensions and time-streams, Křovíny speak to each other through verbal communication, and live within the 'stones' of Újezdt - which are seen to those in lateral-dimensions as coral-type forests, or like bird bones on the insides. They are genderless and are actually born from the 'stones' as a extrusion of the coral. As the coral grows, so too does the number of Křovíny.

Lately, there has been interest in using the stones for their material and mineral properties, which would of course mean that the Křovíny are in danger, as this would be killing them.

Main Cast

Iybus is the protagonist of the story. A young Křovíny of Újezdt. Whilst not high-ranking in the society, he is curious, and forward and intelligent enough to start making contact with Jane, as he correctly deduces she looks like the other humans but is not in fact human.

Jane becomes a close friend of Iybus during the story, as the memory-system of the Křovíny is similar to her own, and she enjoys talking to someone more like her. Together they solve the issue of allowing more people to speak with the Křovíny.

Miro is Jane's friend, and companion. They are in a loving relationship, but tease and challenge each other in the course of it. He assists in bridging between the Shrubie community and Újezdt community.

Jítka is the local czech xenobiologist - although she considers herself a xenophysicist, a new and unrecognized field centered around philotes.

Rhea an older Křovíny who considers herself a she. She objects to Iybus' interactions with the human community, and her objections become more ferocious as the humans begin interfering with the coral.

Skaia is a friend of Iybus and considers themselves female. They are slightly higher up than he is, and whilst wary of his plans and ideas, provides a constrasting but mild viewpoint.

Synopsis

As the humans begin using the coral that is part of the Křovíny's bodies, against the wishes of both the locals, and of course - the Křovíny, there is disagreement amongst both communities as to actually interact with each other.

The precense of Jane and Jítka allows them to begin negotiations. Together they convince both sides to not only communicate further, but to form a treaty. These signals that the Křovíny have decided to become raman rather than varelse.

In the end, Peter (who arrives on-world towards the end with Si Wing-Mu) with the help of the others writes the true story of the Křovíny. The Křovíny then begin assisting with communication and interaction with the Descoladores.

Final Thoughts
