What is The Neopian Orphanage?The Neopian Orphanage was founded to help unfortunate Neopets who have been abandoned by their owners find new homes.
Members of this guild adopt Neopets (generally at level 1 with minimal stats) from the Pound to be taken care of, fed and treated for illnesses. In the meantime, we provide them the training they need and/or zap them to attract a larger number of potential permanent owners. We also keep them quite entertained at our Mall, the Pixie Gathering, and with many fun events -- much better than the dank, dreary Pound.
When a pet is ready to be adopted out, we don't merely throw them back into the pound or give them to the first person who asks. Instead, we take time to find our fosters the perfect homes by listing them in adoption halls and picking the best owner from those who apply.

In our behaviour towards our Neopets we will constantly strive to:
- Treat each pet as an individual: not as a colour, not as an avatar, not as a trophy.
- Never adopt or create pets lightly, but always with thoughtfulness and care. We will only take a pet into our home if we can commit to working towards a permanent loving home for them, or can offer them one with ourselves.
In our behaviour towards our fellow Neopians we will constantly try to:
- Be a model of the principles and values TNO stands for, to show Neopia that good and honest Neopians can be found.
- Remember that we are a representative of TNO, and of foster parents generally, whenever we deal with an applicant for one of our fosters. We will not be pushed around, but likewise, we will treat applicants with dignity and respect.

What are the ranks, and how do I get promoted?
Ranks: Just Hopped On, Glad to Help, Notably Helpful, Ovation Worthy, and Truly Noble. What can do you at the different ranks? Browse around to find out!
There are a lot of ways to get promoted. First and foremost is to foster and adopt out. Other ways include participating in our events and applying for guild jobs-blocked-ing in and getting to know your guildmates is essential. BE ACTIVE! :D
Be warned: a good way not to be promoted is to ask for it. Just be patient and have fun. You'll be promoted before you even realize it. ;)
As an Adoption Guild, what is your stance on pet trading?
The pet trading trend goes against our guild's values.
When you adopt or create a pet it is intended to be forever, not until you find a better "deal". We believe that Neopets shouldn't be equated to rarity indexes or neopoint values.
What are the benefits?

What are TNO Teams?
Teams are held mostly in the boards and are just for fun in TNO! Mostly it's a great atmosphere to build camaraderie with some members and have a bit of friendly competition with others. ;)
Aren't adoption guilds illegal?
Nope! We just can't charge for adoption or guarantee 100% that a pet will get to an intended owner.
Who is Billopan?
Billopan is more than just a Guild Mascot. He loves to help out at the Orphanage and entertain all the adoptees with his crazy high-flying antics. You'll be seeing more than a little of him around TNO, that's for sure! ^__^
FAQ: Fostering
How do I get started with fostering?The very first step in fostering with TNO is to become a Billo Gold foster parent. Becoming a Billo Gold foster parent will allow you to register your pets in the orphanage, and many other opportunities.
How can I help my adoptee?
There are lots of things you can do for your pet. First off, make sure their health and hit points have been brought back up. Visit the Healing Springs first. You can also buy Healing Potions and medicine yourself at the Shop Wiz.
Advertise your adoptee constantly, and make sure they have a room in the Adoption Halls -- it's a place where they can share their stories with other orphans, and feel loved.
These are some advanced things you could do for your pet but definitely not required: zap them, raise stats, increase intelligence (read to them), paint them, equip them, give them a Petpet, earn them a trophy, pretty up their lookup/petpage, and more. Again - tons of items are available to fosters in our Mall Shops! But if you look around both Neopets and the Orphanage, there are some ways to help some of these things along.... Having "extras" to list with your adoptee can help a lot!
What is Billo Gold?
Billo Gold is a group of TNO foster parents. Any member who passed the Billo Gold test will become a Billo Gold foster parent. Being a Billo Gold foster parent has several advantages within TNO. Members who are on Billo's Approved list can:
-List their foster's in TNO's orphanage (where the adoptees are listed).
-Become part of the Billo's Gold usergroup
-Become eligible to receive certain items for their foster pets in the TNO Mall
Being a member of Billo Gold is not required to foster pets with TNO. Anyone can use the Adoptee Ads board to advertise their foster pets, but becoming a Billo Gold foster parent gives more exposure and opportunities.

FAQ : Neopet Adoption
What is the 'Pledge of Good Ownership'?Some owners require that you recite this pledge to them or have it somewhere in your shop or lookup. Others just want you to say it to yourself and mean it. Regardless, we strongly feel that you should take this pledge and live by your promise before adopting a pet from us. Also, we recommend that you read our Adoption FAQ before adopting. Without further ado, here is the pledge:
If I am chosen, I, (your name) , pledge to be the best owner I can be for my new Neopet, (pet's name) . I understand all the sadness that he/she has already been through, and so I will provide everything he/she needs to be happy. I promise to be a friend to my new Neopet and never ever ever put him/her through the pain of neglect or abandonment again.
Where are the adoptees?
Adoptees of TNO are listed in a main adoptee directory. We have a ton of foster pets in our adoption halls. The adoptees are grouped by pet species, but pet colors could be found via the search option.
Please Note: TNO doesn't allow pets that are up for trade (even 'trade or adoption') to be added to our listings.
This may seem unfair, but just think how unfair it would be for a potential owner who puts their heart and soul into an application to be 'outbid' by someone offering to trade a pet.
