The Basics
What exactly is restocking? Buying items for a lower price and selling themfor higher prices to make a profit.
Time - Now, a shop restocks randomly. If you catch one restock, you may be able to catch another one within 5-9 minutes. Now that isn't always the case, but It is helpful to keep track of time.
Multiple Restocks - There are also such things as a double restock. This is when the shop restocks again, right after the first one. If you're really lucky, you may be able to catch a third one; but It's rare.
Restock Banned - Be careful to not let this happen, for you may not be able to restock for a good while. Restock banning happens when one refreshes too much in a shop. Keep your refreshing simple, and not too constant. How long does a restock banning go on for? It can take hours, days, or even possibly weeks.
What is haggling? - Haggling is where you try and lower the price of the item you are purchasing, for a better buy. I also want to add that you do not need to delete the zero in the box. Believe It or not, but deleting that zero can make a big difference in time.
Codes? Huh? - There is a process after the shop owner has decided your offer is good enough, and that is to enter a security code. This code is 3 letters and/or numbers. This code is here to try and stop auto/-/buyers, though It doesn't work too well. Recently, TNT has updated the security code, and It is now a picture with one neopet on it and some blurryness or a design maybe. All you need to do here is click the neopet.
The Shop Wizard - The shop wizard is your good friend you always need to use. Use him to check the prices on all your bought things, and price them accordingly. If you're looking for quick sells, go along with the cheapest price on the wizard.
The Trading Post - This is where you should sell your unbuyables. Simply say what you would like in wishlist area, for your item. Give It time or you can even go to a neoboard. But make sure It's always the Trading Post Board. People from other boards may get upset at you. Advertise your item, and if It's ETS, someone will probably buy it soon.
The Shop Board - Go here If you wish to advertise your restocked shop, It may make your things sell quicker. If you have an item that is almost unbuyable(100k and jus a little lower), you can say you have a Buyable Unbuyable in your shop; people will go see what It is.
Unbuyable Items - Sometimes you might restock a very valuable item, this item is called unbuyable. It costs over 100k, therefore making It unbuyable in the user shops. Many people think you can buy an item that costs 100k or more in the user shops. Well, I'm sorry, but you can't. This items are all for show.
Auto/-buyers - Never use these! A auto/-buyer is a program that is used to automatically buy the rarest item from a shop. TNT will find out If you have one; and you will get frozen and possibly IP banned.
Terms and Abbreviations - Huh? What is a ETS UB on the TP? I'll tell you :)
HTS - Hard to sell. Hard to sell items are well, hard to sell. It may take a very long time to sell(unless you give somebody a big discount on it.), because It's not a popular item and nobody wants It.
ETS - Easy to sell. Easy to sell items are items that many people want; they sell much quicker than HTS items.
UB - Unbuyable; Look at the description above this section.
TP - No, not toilet paper. Trading Post.
RS - Restock. Also there is RSing, and RSer.
MTS - I don't see this used too often, but It is Medium to Sell. It's the inbetween of HTS and ETS.
TNT - The Neopets Team. They will never ask you for your p/w.
Let's start with the shops, shall we? Also, another tip is to have atleast 20k out. You'll burn It fast! Also you wouldn't want to regret missing a unbuyable would you?
The Igloo Garage Sale - At the Igloo Garage Sale, things happen differently. There isn't haggling, or any codes. You click the item, confirm that you wish to buy it, and done. Now you can only buy one item per restock there, but It is still a great place.
What are some of the items I should look out for? If you don't know the value of many items, I would stick with books or petpets for awhile.
What items have YOU seen/bought from there that are good? I've seen many snorkle snouts, gruslens, and tanizards.
What price range am I looking at? The most expensive things that spawn there are probably petpets, and even then, they are normally only 1-3k :) Other items, are pretty much always lower than 1k.
Can I get ripped off? Yes, for the cheap and worthless items, such as tiki tack merchandise and gross/spooky food(not all spooky food and gross food is worthless) spawn there. Also some Battledome items spawn there aren't worth the asking price.
Other Notes: Basically, the Igloo Garage Sale is a great start for beginning restockers. Now, It's time to restock at a real shop, with haggling and codes.
The Neopian Book Shop - Ah, what pet doesn't love to read? You're now going to get introduced to haggling and codes.
Ok, so what books should I buy? Start off with the common books, that restock in bulk; such as ones with 10† in stock. These books are normally 500 neopoints and under, that's good. When you are haggling, try to haggle to the lowest hundreth. IE: A book costs 448 NPs, try to lower it to 400 nps. Also, a good cheapish book you should buy is called Algebra, this book is worth 2.5k and up.
How much do I sell them for? Sell your books according to the shop wizard. All books are atleast 1k, If not, don't sell them lower anyway. My advice is to sell your book for atleast 1,100 nps. Trust me, It will be bought :)
Can I get ripped off here? Ever since books became one use, there isn't a great chance you will be. Pretty much all books sell for atleast 1k, and there are many books that sell way higher.
So what about the other books? You may have noticed the more expensive books in the shop, or other you haven't seen too many of. Some of these books are barely worth It, for you can only get a few 100 np profit. some however, are worth alot. This can be 3-10k or even more. I'm going to leave It to you to find out which those are :)
Other notes: This is a decent place in my opinion to gain the experience of being and typing fast.
Spooky Food Shop - Ok, so you're thinking, "Why should I restock here?" Well, believe it or not, but there are very valuable spooky foods out there. While this is one of the boring shops, you may catch something very, very nice.
What items am I looking for here, and what are their values? Snorkle Snout - 60k; Pumpkin Ice-Cream - 30k; Festering Coffee - 17k; Grundo Stix - 9k; Gummi Worms - 27k; Parts on a Pizza - 95k; Jelly Spider Eye Ball - Unbuyable; and That isn't even close to being the complete list :) I'll leave the rest to you.
Can I get ripped off here? Oh yes, very. But don't let that change your mind. You should know what spooky food is pretty much worthless. If not, you can go to the shop Itself and notice what items are never being bought. They just sit there, all day everyday. Keep an eye out for that spooky food you've never seen before, or that you know Is a good buy.
Why is all that food not being bought anyway? Alot of It is given away. Edna, the witch gives tons of It away when you do a quest. The food isn't rare, therefore no one buys It for such a price.
Other Notes: The spooky food shop can make you very rich, you just need to learn what's good and what isn't. I may in the future make a add-on guide of what to buy and what not to buy for every shop. Keep an eye out for that :)
The Neopian PetPet Shop - Petpets, very popular little creatures for your pet. This shop sells out fast, so hopefully you've become fast by now. I'm going to include all petpet shops, in this section to give you a good idea of what to buy.
Petpets have such different values, what do I look for? As I always say, study and learn. But, keep alot of np on you, and I'll tell you some petpets to catch. Angelpuss is a avatar item, and is sold for about 3k, and sold for 5k. Spardel is sold for 8-11k, and worth about 20k. Puppyblew can be bought for 2-5k, sold for 7k. Those are just a few. Unbuyable Petpets include Devilpuss(?), Hasee(3mil), Kadoatie(600k), Bogie(500k), Moltenore(4mil), Babith(?), Cadro(2mil), Babyca(600k), Snotbunny(?), and Flowper(150k).
Can I be ripped off here? Yes, yes you can. You may see an outrageously expensive petpet, more than likely he isn't worth It. Uniocto, for example. He is bought for about 26k, and sold for 4k. Learn your petpets and their values.
Some petpets aren't sold in shops? Yep. Some are won or given randomly over the site. Two for example are Zomutt and Droolik. These are won on the Test Your Strength game. I'm not exactly sure how many aren't sold in shops, but these are two ^^;
Tyrannian PetPet Shop
What are the petpets to look out for here? Let's see.. Gruslen(60k), Icklesaur(90k), Mazzew(30k), Ownow(70k), Rock(30k), Magtile(70k), Unbuyables; Niptor(100k), Krawk(1 mill), Acko(170k), and Gathow(300k).
Can I be ripped off here? Yes, one petpet for example is Scado. Not too many petpets though, so don't worry.
Spooky PetPet Shop
What are the petpets to look out for here? Meepit, definately. Bought for around 16-19k, sold for 300-500k :) I've missed one, sadly. Also a Green Tentacle, bought for around 16k, sold for 200k.
Can I be ripped off here? Yep, once again this is a store that will sell petpets for a ridiculous price when you can save so much off the wiz. For example, a Batterfly. Bought for 60k, sold for 40k.
Faerie PetPet Shop
What are the petpets to look out for here? Faellie(250k), Zumagorn(1.7mil), Flosset(1mil), Feloreena(800k), Gwortz(700k), and Teemyte(800k).
Wintery PetPets
What are the petpets to look out for here? Jinjah(10k), Powtry(20k), Raindorf(50k) Unbuyables; Snowickle(4mil), Candychan(3mil), and Ona(100k).
Desert PetPets
What are the petpets to look out for here? Anubis(15k), Sutekh(12k), Taweret(15k), Unbuyables; Khonsu(450k), Erism(100k), Geb(?), Scamander(3mil?), and Dua(2mil).
Medieval PetPets
What are the PetPets to look out for here? Symol(60k), Drackonack(40k), Unbuyables; Whinny(280k), Dragoyle(120k), Turmac(4mil), Vullard(2.7mil), Zebie(3.2mil), Turtum(125k), Mortog(2mil), Ganuthor(100kish?)
Robot PetPets
What are the PetsPets to look out for here? Other Notes: Most petpets are ETS unless they are painted, otherwise good luck. You will never find a painted pet in a shop; unless It's a user shop of course.
Pharmacy - This is the place to buy medicine for your sick Neopets.
What do I buy here? Magic Cookie(8k), Hoochie Coochie Tablets(3k), Medicinal Soap(9k), Tongue Shrinker(6k), Tasty Pie(100k), Grumble Be Gone Tablets(40k), Magic Goop(100k), Extra Thick Goggles(8k), Neck brace(35k), Cactopus Cream(5k), Sporkle Syrup(100k), Honey Blossom Extracy(12k)
I will add more shops in the future. I think these are a hand full of shops for you right now anyway :)
Hints and Tips
I've decided to add this section though It really doesn't have to do with restocking.
Spin your wheels - Always spin your wheels. There are a total of 5 wheels. The wheel of Excitement, The Wheel of Mediocrity- The wheel of Misfortune, The wheel of Monotony, and the wheel of Knowledge.
Wheel of Excitement - This wheel you can win just about all the things you can win on others. There are two spaces on this wheel that are my favorite. The 10k space and the magic space. You win the avatar on the 10k space. The magic space will give you an item; every item I've gotten has been atleast 20k. The cost to spin this wheel is 150 nps.
Wheel of Mediocrity - This wheel is a bit 'cheaper' If you know what I mean. To win the Mediocrity avatar, you have to land on the 1k spot. It's worth a spin at only 50 nps.
Wheel of Misfortune - I don't spin the wheel of misfortune, but you can If you like. Just make sure all your nps are in the bank. This wheel has no avatar, yet :) But you can win a spooky petpet, nps or lose nps. The cost is 200 nps.
Wheel of Monotony - My favorite wheel. It gives great prizes, though the wait can be long. I've heard reports of 30 mins to 18 hours. For me, It takes about 1 hour to 3 hours. To win the avatar for this wheel, you have to land on the ? space. You can even win a tyrannian paintbrush on this wheel! The cost is worth it at only 100nps.
Wheel of Knowledge - I haven't got anything good from this wheel yet, but that is because It's new :) You can win cheat codes, hints, books, BD items, all sorts of things. There is even an avatar, and to get that avatar, you have to land on the space with a flag on it. The cost for this wheel is 500nps. You decide If you wish to spin It.
Scams - One of the things that ruin fun for many players. Remember, NEVER give your p/w out to anyone; there is no reason to.
Type this into 10 boards/trades scam - This does NOT work. It is very annoying, and you will not get what It promises most likely you will just end up getting your account frozen.. Here It is.. TYPE THIS MESSAGE INTO TEN OF YOUR TRADES, THEN GO TO THE LOST DESERT PAINTBRUSH STALL, YOU WILL FIND 1,000,000 NP ON THE FLOOR AND A RANDOM PAINTBRUSH, IT HAS WORKED FOR EVERYONE SO FAR
I'll babysit your pets - Don't let anybody into your account so that they can babysit your pets. Your pets will not die and you can just put them into the neolodge If you are that concerned about your pets.
Fake Login Page - This can come to you many ways. I'll give you one example. Say you're in a shop and there is a item; say a paintbrush. You click it for It says It is only 25000 nps. It may then take you to a login page. Do NOT enter your name and p/w. ALWAYS look at the url in your browser. If It doesn't come straight from Neopets.com; It's a fake.
I work for Neopets! I need your p/w! - Too bad cause, you're not getting It. Many people impersonate TNT, trying to get your p/w. The only neomail you will ever recieve from the TNT comes from theneopetsteam; Nobody else. TNT will never ask you for your p/w anyway.
Faerie Queen Doll - People want this avatar SO bad, they'll risk letting people get into their accounts. Well, no matter how much you want this avatar do not give them your p/w. This works by them saying they need your p/w and they will swipe the doll through your account. Nope. Don't do It. It's a beautiful avatar, raise the 1 million nps to be able to borrow It, or raise 2 million to buy your own.
My pet is sick! - Don't worry, and definately don't waste the money on the medicine item. The sickness your pet has might be cheap to cure however,so that is your own choice. Now, go to the healing springs every 30 minutes; trust me, she will eventually heal your pet. All better!
