Is Adblock allowed ?

Yes !! See Editorial 190

How do you get Adblock ?


- first click on 'tools' (top of the screen)
- then click on 'Add ons' in the drop down menu
- a new window or tab should have appeared
- click on 'get add-ons' (top left of new window / tab)
- type 'adblock plus' in the search bar and press enter
- top of the new list should be adblock Plus (with a red and white ABP symbol on the left)
- click on 'Add to firefox' (bottom right of window / tab)
- window / tab will change and a message about installing will appear, click 'install now
- when it's installed, you will need to restart Firefox, click 'restart firefox now' button

Congratulations - you now have Adblock installed !

Now you're done with that installing - time to get it to do the job you want


- you should now have a new icon at the top of the screen (the red and white ABP symbol)
that should have a little down arrow next to it, click on that arrow, to get the drop down menu
- choose 'preferences' from that menu
- then click 'add preferences' - Type in dev. neopets .com /ads /* (NO SPACES - DELETE THEM)

or -

dev.neopets .com/ads/ preloader/css/ preloader.css (NO SPACES - DELETE THEM)
or add both

games now load at normal speed !!!! (maybe not - see below)

If you just installed adblock for the first time, there are a couple of adresses you need to let it know. If I open some game (dubloon disaster for a test), I get three ad sources: dev . neopets . com / ads (as on iorn_dino) images . neopets . com / ads and neopets . com / ads / (which is trying to spam me with new game brakes every 20 seconds or so. LOL) - open a game page - click on that red ABP sign - rightclick on each of these, 'block this item'.. - shorten the adress so that it doesn't contain the specific image name / is just as long as the adresses in the post above. You want to block everything coming from there, not just that particular annoyance


So I had a look.


- Click on the ABP symbol at the top of your screen
A view pane should have appeared at the bottom of your screen
It shows all the blockable things on the page you're viewing

Following Glunf's example I'll use Dubloon Disaster - try and load it with the adblock view pane open
you may see things listed like these : -

http://dev . neopets. com/ads/preloader/css/ preloader.css
http:// images . neopets.com /ads/preloader /preloader2 .
http: //www . google -analytics. com/


So what do we do about them ?


- Right click on the link in the view pane
A choice menu should have appeared
- click on 'Block this item'
you now have a choice - in the look for a pattern part
As an example I'll use - http: // images .neopets.com/ads/preloader /preloader2.
I chose - 'http:// images .neopets . com /ads/ preloader/*
- Click 'Add filter'
Now load the game again
Your Adblock view thing should show it in red and blocked
Now repeat with any other adds

one more thing to add to your page... # div ( brand-mamabar ) (no spaces). what that does is removes that hideous bar on top of every page

As I have premium, I can't prove that info, so I'm interested in hearing some responses :-)

So how do we do it ? follow the instructions above.

Go to your ABP icon - click the little arrow - and choose preferences.
Click 'add filter
type in - neoads . js (NO SPACES) - click OK
Click 'add filter' again
type in - ## . brand - mamabar (NO SPACES)
