A Rust-free Existence ♥

Aloha...

Welcome to my petpage, oh weary traveller. My name is Ilenaulea but you may call me Lena. I do so enjoy visitors now that I no longer need to live a lonely and anti-social existence. There was a time when I would hide and cower from someone like you, in a corner like a scared little mouse...but now seeing people is like a beaming ray of sunshine in my soul. Yes, yes...I do so love it.

Feel free to have a wander around and explore. I will tell you more about me if you like? Perhaps you'd like to learn about glorious the sea shells and other treats Mother Ocean has provided for our eyes to be in awe of? Aren't sea shells so lovely and mystical? Yes, yes...I do so love them.

OH! If you would like to create something glorious of your own, I would simply adore some artwork.

Oceans' ebb and flow
is soothing to the spirit
yet makes me dizzy.

Beginnings...

It seems like a past life to me now, half in my memory and half in my dreams. Was I ever really that confused little being, created by science and misfortune? This is the story of me...

It was many years ago that I was born. To tell you the truth, I cannot remember what I was born as...but I know, from being told, that my birth was on the twentieth day in the month of Swimming, year seven. A part of me believes that perhaps, in this other life; I was a sea dwelling creature, like a Peophin or Flotsam. I do love the ocean but for such a very long time water and I did not mix well. In whatever form it was that I came into this world as, I have no memory of it. For over a year with my previous owner I was subjected to the Laboratory Ray. In reality it's not as awful as you'd think; I was never in any pain or danger; my owner Timm did take wonderful care of me. The fault of my mental and physical lapse was not his doing, nor did we realise the extent of the rays' effect on me until it was too late. During the month of Celebrating I made a change that pleased my owner greatly. I had been an Ixi of some colour, I remember that much. As the grey puff of smoke cleared from the laboratory, a glint was caught by an overhanging light. I had lost my fur but gained a gleaming coat of armour. I was now a Robot Ixi.

Timm was very excited by this change. Robot can be a very sort after colour in the world of Neopia. I do admit that I was also impressed by my new sleekness and abilities. Never before had I been able to make so many mechanical noises or withstand attacks from pesky Baby Neopians with such ease. It was fun, for a while, just beep-booping around...not a care in the world. It wasn't long after this change however that we discovered the side effects of prolonged zapping. I began to suffer from seizures where I would unable to control my lasers and other weapons. My brain had become frazzled and it would take very little to set me off. If I was upset - lasers! Surprised - lasers! Angry - big-time lasers!! It got to a point where Timm could no longer look after me without putting his other pets in danger. He did have a good guild friend though (a.k.a. Channie) whom offered to give me a good home. She was just learning about Ixi at the time and thought a dysfunctional Robot Ixi would be a good challenge. She tells me that something about my "dysfunctional-ness" reminded me of her...awwww.

Channie and I worked on my problems together. We tried meditation and other relaxation methods but with little relief. One day we all decided to go on a family trip...somewhere everyone could have a bit of fun. The other Ixi were so eager to visit Mystery Island. I was excited too...until we got to the harbour. What if I fell into the water and got wet? My circuits would short and my joints would all rust and cease up! I couldn't possibly play in the sand. Do you know how hard it is to get sand out of teensy nooks and crannies when you're a robot? What a terrible idea for a holiday! Life was just one miserable day after another. Until I met Aikâne. I was perched on a rock, watching the waves by myself, contemplating my existence when a Delfin popped up sneakily beside me. "Heheheheello!" As she spoke I got such a fright that my laser shot off into the air! Instead of being scared like most strangers, she burst out laughing - the most delightful noise I had ever heard. We spoke about my holiday...or more so, I spoke and she listened intently. I explained how I felt I was cursed in my current form but didn't know what I could do about it. I loved being an Ixi and having such a wonderful family but what was life without happiness? "Have yooooou tried a popopopotion? To maaaaaake you Iiiiiisland? You're a waaaaater baby at heart. Anyone can see thaaaaaaaat!". Hmm, I wonder what Channie would say?

As the sun started setting into the ocean I zoomed back to our Neolodge room. Pulling Channie aside I asked her what she would think about me changing colour. I'd still have my Robo-armour, just fur again...and NO LASERS! We both jumped for joy; why had we not thought of it sooner. The Island Ixi Morphing Potion had been expensive but Channie says it was worth every penny to see the smile on my face after I had drank every last drop of the elixir. My fur began to grow back but now it was luscious and a softer earth yellow colour. My hooves were back to their old selves and as Channie gave me a big cuddle, I could again feel the warmth of skin, the texture of clothing; all of my senses had come back to me.

These days I live on Mystery Island. I just couldn't leave - it's a magical place. The place where I found myself again. I live very close to the Rock Pools so I can visit my dear friend Aikâne. Ours is a friendship that will last all of our days. The shy, curious Robot Ixi is now a vivacious, community orientated Island baby and loving every minute of it. You will often see me collecting shells and washed up coral from the beach, or hosting boat tours around the Island. Life is what you make it!

Learning...

Since making a home on Mystery Island some years ago, I have come to love all things shelly. There are so many wondrous types of sea shell and the different shapes and colours make you wonder how Mother Ocean can create such beauty. Would you like to know more about shells, perhaps?

Seashells are just like our skeletons but on the outside of marine creatures called Molluscs. Having their skeletons on the outside helps protect them from predators, strong currents and storms. They also help in heaps and heaps of other ways...like camouflaging the resident of the sea shell. Seashells are mostly made up of calcium, just like our bones.

After the creature that created the seashell dies, the shells sometimes wash up onto the shore. Sometimes another marine animal, like a baby crabula, will take the empty shell and use it as their new home. Way to recycle!!

Shells are not just useful for creatures of the sea, but you can also make them into some beautiful jewellery and other types of art. Your imagination is the only limit to what you can use shells to make. Try reading these books!!

These are just a few examples of what can be made.

Browse some of the stores here on Mystery Island, or in the ocean's depths at Maraqua for all sorts of shell items!

Inspiration...

Sea Shell, Sea Shell...
Sing me a song, oh please!
A song of ships, and sailor men,
And parrots, and tropical trees,
Of islands lost in the Spanish Main
Which no man ever may find again.
Of fishes and corals under the waves,
And seahorses stabled in great green caves.
Sea Shell, Sea Shell...
Sing of the things you know so well.
