Nov 16 [Cass]: I know I've been negligent of this site - so sorry, I've been quite busy with real life! (Crazy, right?) TEC is on my to-do list, just give me a few days. ^-^ I want to take time just to spiff The Elegant Court up and get it advertised and stuff. When Kaz's finals are done, he'll be taking the site over to one of his petpages, but that'll be the only change. C:

Here at The Elegant Court, your hosts Cass & Kaz have hosted a beautiful masquerade ball to uncover the best dancers in all of Neopia. The masquerade is so exclusive that you must apply for a ticket just to enter, and then you will be rated & commented on by the two hosts to see if you will be accepted. If you merit an average score of at least 8/10, you are proclaimed an Elegant Dancer. ^-^ Those on the dance floor are just beginning to show off their skills, and those admitted to the prestigious guest list have achieved the ranking of an Elegant Dancer. :)

However, should you be refused the ability to call yourself an Elegant Dancer, lose no hope because the masquerade is only just beginning. You have plenty of time to improve your dancing skills before the next song starts. ;) I do believe Apartment Nine is excellent for spiffing one's site up.

Find a Laugh October 23, 2009 Kaz Says: A directory, and yet one with a twist. Well executed, with a layout that's sophisticated and well done. Highest praises, Weapon. Just a slight suggestion - perhaps it would be good to arrange the screenie pages in both alphabetical and ranking order. 10/10 Cass Says: Weapon's sites are all unique, and not to mention the layout style! Sparks of Magic October 23, 2009 Kaz Says: Your layouts are very often very distinguishable. That being said, I think the blending probably needs more work to make it smooth. Perhaps try some effects on the images as well if you can; textures, brushes and such. The layout also does not work in Opera, which is something that saddens me. That being said, your buttons are amazing, and they are all of pretty high quality. 8/10 Cass Says: Amazing, amazing buttons and usually very colorful layouts; I always like to come by just to see the new buttons! Maybe next time you can make it so it doesn't scroll just a little? =3 But otherwise, very organized & one of my favorite button sites. I'd recommend using something other than the bolded tahoma font, it doesn't look as professional as the rest of your header/css fonts. 9/10 Average Score: 8.5/10

CHARLIE October 23, 2009 Kaz Says: A simple layout. I'm not too sure gray with dark red is the most outstanding of colors, and the pixel font is blurred, as are the OPEN and CLOSED buttons. A section is utterly empty. But what you DO have is unique and very well made. 8/10 Cass Says: Like Kaz said, the layout doesn't "wow" me at first, but since gret is my one of my favorite colors, at least I am intrigued hehe. I did like the black & blue on gray VS the black & red on gray, I think the colors go together better. The content is great, the I ♥ MY PET series is pretty original! One thing though - Your layout doesn't work in Opera, and compatibility is important in a directory. 9.5/10 Cass Says: Back when TFC had opened (last year, near the time my directory did!) there weren't very many link directories around, which is true. TFC also knocks the socks off visitors with is original style, huge amount of links, & graceful organization. This is the only directory I ever use other than mine, and it's wonderful. Locket October 23, 2009 Kaz Says: I think the layout is fantastic, but it's not really made by you. Plenty of advice, but too many 'To the top' things. Makes my eyes go haywire. Your headers don't really look like headers - I suggest making them underlined or something to tell another person it's another section. Not too bad. 8/10 Cass Says: Layout's really nice - not made by you, but it's not too big of a deal; not everyone is good at coding, right? But I think you have too much text before your actual content. Who wants to scroll a lot to get to the stuff, even if you do have a navigation? The preface & the intro are both long, so why not shorten them or put them in a scrollbox? Honestly, you don't need that much of an explanation for your site. I've always agreed with Kaz's comment about the "Back to top" things; you don't need one after every comment. Keep it to at the end of every header or something. The contrasting white outline makes my eyes hurt. The content & idea, however, is really phenomenal. :) 8/10 Average Score: 8/10

Definitely has quality buttons like your sister. x) However, you have too big of an intro & too long updates. Just keep things short & sweet or you'll start to lose your audience! Tangible. October 24, 2009 Kaz Says: You have a very nice layout, but the thing is, it side scrolls so much, and it annoys me (I have 1024x768). On to your actual premades. The CSS is pretty much bland, and Triple Threat looks like Seasons looks like Sidekick. Headers on Left Alone and Two-Faced look similar. Not much variety there. With a purely CSS site, it's important to have VARIETY. The only one I really liked was Boxed In. 7/10 Cass Says: Your CSS is just so bland...and basic. The header margins should be much smaller, and in general, I think the styles could be more "exciting." Just changing up the colors or adding columns and having exactly the same CSS isn't something I'd go for. Better color schemees (more exciting ones?) would work better for you too. And the boxed-in style would be cute (I love the backgrounds) if the css was better. :3 4/10 Average Score: 5.5/10

I would make the scroll boxes slightly larger if you intend to have a full review in there; maybe one box per line. Been more than a month since the site opened; very little content. I'm pretty sure no one is going to go to the BOTTOM and read the old, old ones. Delete them after 2 weeks or something like a real message board, and you can try making the big scrollbox with messages in it taller. "Idea and words also by me" made me smile. It's sort of silly. Of course the words are by you. xD I feel you on the whole idea thing though. Everyone up and took the Rock the Top ranking idea, and some people didn't credit me till I asked them - and some people today don't even credit me. :( Anyway, more-or-less good job on accepting only good affies; however, maybe you want to have a neomailing link under "affiliates"? Overlooked October 25, 2009 Kaz Says: Not too fond of the layout. The banner is quite roughly blended, the text is blur. The background is a tad too outstanding. CSS is premade. Your alignment in your criteria is off. Do you really need that many voting buttons? Your affiliates and such section looks messy. Split them up. On the other hand, your reviews are absolutely detailed and very well done. Kudos for that. But a first impression matters very much to me, so just fix that up, and you're on your way. 7/10 Cass Says: Indeed you are one of the few nowadays that still give in-depth reviews. Let me suggest a few things, though: One, try aligning all your text, especially the reviews themselves, to the left. It looks MUCH neater. The completed reviews box could be bigger, and you could be a /little/ harsher on your reviews, but that's just me. The banner also doesn't match as well as it could, but otherwise, the atmosphere is calm & serene, and I like it. 8/10 Average Score: 7.5/10

What's with the affiliates being separated from sitely? Not very well done. Loads to work on. 5/10 Cass Says: Background's cute but too busy, and that banner could be /way/ better. =3 Glad you used my css but a solid or diagonally-striped background would've looked better. The numbers in your updates are weirdly written (with O's instead of zeros O.o) and the awards around your site are about the same quality as your banner - not good. Your affies should be in your sidebar, and frankly, you don't have many entrants! Your first link button could also use some work. Oh and all of your text in the mainbar is oddly bolded. Kingdom Reviews October 31, 2009 Kaz Says: The layout is bright, and the colors match, which is good. But after that, it all goes down. I can't read the yellow italics. Color clash. Layout doesn't really match your theme anymore, and it's kind of sad, because you have a great theme going on. Base layout coding by KTL, so a point taken off there. Your affiliates and such are quite messy - I suggest using tables to have little spaces between them. And, yeah, like what Cass said. Your reviews seem to be lacking in a few core areas. 6/10 Cass Says: I like the theme, though the layout no longer matches it. It's not too big of a problem - I mean, you get tired of things eventually. Your site history is a bit long; I recommend putting it in a scrolling box because I'm sure people are more interested in the reviews than how your site started. o.O Your reviewing could be a little more in-depth maybe, but the main problem is that you don't seem to talk about or have categories for organization, neatness, presentation, that sort of thing. A site is more than just spelling, content, and first impression. (Btw, the "Democracy?!" header made me laugh. XD) Ah, maybe you could put your awards and a few other things in your mainbar; it doesn't look that neat if the sidebar is longer than the mainbar. You might also want to put the "Previous Kingdom Walls" in the mainbar instead of the bottom box, which would look better if it was just for credit. You need to capitalize a lot of things aronud the site, primarily your subtitles of the sidebar headers explaining what the header means. In This Moment November 1, 2009 Kaz Says: xD I may be a little picky here, but your banner isn't aligned well in width to your tables. Right column isn't really centered as well. I think you should put your affiliates in tables (your buttons as well) for neatness purposes. Good borders, although I've seen some of them before. Nonetheless, they are well done. 8/10 Cass Says: I *love* your buttons and always have! They've been getting more popular lately, and with good cause. Yours is one of the few GREAT button sites out there nowadays. I also love the color scheme; not too many do browns, but you pulled it off spectacularly. Just two things, though...one, translucent hover effect is a /bit/ too "much," and two, maybe you want to put your customization options in a scrolling box? I would like it if your updates header were the same as the other headers. Your headers for borders and animations and stuff are interesting, but perhaps put more space between the sections? The Swipe animation column is a tad lower than the others. Bring it up? Other than that, brilliant amount of fonts, animation and borders. The Audit November 7, 2009 Kaz Says: I've really seen these two column layouts with a banner on top too many times. It gets a little boring. The banner is alright, though I would move the text down a little so it isn't covering faces. Put your affiliates side by side like your listers, better for organization. In your reviews, you too make spelling errors, like 'blod' instead of 'blog'. Again, look at your tone of reviewing. You do not 'hate'. You 'suggest'. Capice? The way you review is too imposing. You don't say what is actually wrong, you tell them what you don't like. In all honesty, your idea of 'too dark' might be perfect for others. Your reviewing style isn't very professional at all, in my opinion. 5/10 Cass Says: You should probably start off "fixing" your background so that it doesn't move when you scroll...I see some spelling errors in your reviews; you should spellcheck them. Your reviewing style...well some things you took points off don't make sense, really. Like for In This Moment, you took off points for what, not having enough link buttons & havin ones with animation? And not being listed at enough directories? O.o Those are sort of irrelevant to the site quality & content itself...suggesting that is fine, but taking points off for it makes no sense. =__= I won't go into detail, but your reviewing doesn't seem very in-depth and I wouldn't agree with stuff you've said. Right, everyone has their own opinions, but on some things I find it hard to believe that that's how you graded them. Oh, wait, I have to mention this: I will say this ONCE. I HATE HTML coded layouts! is uh, kind of rude and it doesn't present your suggestion in the best light possible. You're going for constructive criticism here, not outright "I hate this!" People don't care what you personally think of things, they want your opinion on how they can better their site - at least in the way you presented this, it seems really opinionated and less professional. I strongly suggest checking out the review site mini guide @ my petpage tutorial, Apartment Nine. You should really try rethinking the way you review. :3 Oh and if you don't have anything to suggest, you shouldn't even mention it. Like in PG's Quick N' Easy Way To 15K's review, in the First Impression - you should SUGGEST how to make the colors better, not say how bad they are. 2/10 Average Score: 3.5/10

Gossip November 16, 2009 Kaz Says: Definitely not fond of the banner. The text can be outlined or given more flare, the edges need not be blurred out because you have a border. The thick dashed border isn't great, either. In your introduction paragraph alone, I see so many typos/spelling/grammar errors. 'Hey!welcome to Gossip.'. Capitalize and space. I don't like your navigation moving when I hover over them, either. Your scroll box under 'The Gossip' should definitely fit the width of the table better. Your last three buttons look pretty good, but the first two look quite bad. 5/10 Cass Says: The banner should be more professional with text effects and stuff. (I'd be happy to make you a replacement banner.) The css could definitely use some work; try for a more matching, meshing theme instead of greys, purples, and pinks, which don't really go together so well. Align your rules to the left and maybe embolden the numbers so they're easier to see? The box of gossip could be MUCH larger - it's the focal point of your site, after all. You should also have a neomailing link for people to become fans of each site. You also really need to proofread your site so you can catch all of your numerous grammar mistakes and seem more professional. Site idea-wise (thanks for crediting The XXI, btw) is a good one, good job. I would recommend fixing up your site to be 100% amazing and then going out to get advertised, since your site thrives on other peoples' interaction. 4/10 Average Score: 4.5/10

The Galactic Files November 16, 2009 Kaz Says: Lessening the space between banner and tables would definitely be a good idea. Otherwise, I like the clean look of it, and the banner looks awesome. Layout, however, does not work in Opera. And since I'm using Opera, I can't really view your site at all. Overflow:hidden does not work in the browser. From what I can see, however - 8/10 Cass Says: I would definitely suggest to move the banner, main content box, and navigation closer together! If you make everything as small as possible, you might even be able to make it so the page doesn't scroll! ^-^ Otherwise...I LOVE the theme, colors, and content! Maybe offering a quick directorty of very helpful links would be good, too. Ooh, the post-it notes idea is good as well. I'd like to suggest, however, that you align everything to the left, as it looks much neater. And another thing - maybe you want to offer quick evaluations like I have at Soroptimist Directory? Neo~Nice November 16, 2009 Kaz Says: Okay, the layout looks fine. I would change the background of the yellow Neopets header to white, though, or match the pink background. Your layout scrolls down just ten pixels or so down in a 1024x768 screen, so maybe you could move your layout up a little. The font is a tad too big, I think. Just about one size smaller would be good, in my opinion. I don't like how the whole line shifts when I hover over a navigation as well. Again, the layout does not work in Opera. But I like the pixels you make. Although, I don't know why you offer special pixels you didn't make. Seems odd to me. 7.5/10 Cass Says: The layout is cute at first sight; nice colors, too. Your pixels are also cute. ^_^ You should, of course, get more affies and get listed at places! Oh, credits-wise, who made your layout? And you should rethink your link hovers, since ones that move around a lot are just annoying. Ooh, you have link borders on a few images (like under your "other" link). Fallen Cards November 16, 2009 Kaz Says: I would make the banner fit the width of the table snugly, first. Secondly, I think the banner can be spiffed up a lot more to introduce something more striking and attention grabbing to your page. As is, it looks plain and boring. Navigation - I would make the length actually the same as each other. Looks messy as is. I would either place a line to separate the two tables, or put more space between them. The blue background on the reviews makes it a tad hard to read. Your affiliates and such could use a little arranging - I suggest using tables for a neater look. Your reviews, on the other hand, are very detailed, and you do suggest good things. I like it. Just work on your layout, for me. 7.5/10 Cass Says: Good banner, nice color scheme & theme. You should make your banner bigger or the tables smaller; in some way, you should have the contours of the outside table fit snugly around the banner instead of having such a big gap. For some reason, your layout scrolls a teeny bit left/right, which is weird, because there's just a 2-column layout, right? (Since this is probably my silly browser, not points off for that.) The sidebar should be much skinnier and the main content column wider; the sidebar is wayyyyy to wide and it "cuts" into the mainbar space. The review boxes should be MUCH bigger - you don't need to fit them two in a row, let each box have its own row so the boxes can be bigger! They're too tiny right now. All text everywhere should also be aligned to the left, as it looks neatest that way. The awards could be more professionally done, but I won't dock points for that. Affies and listed at should go in scrollboxes. I wouldn't agree with a lot of stuff I read in your reviews, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, which is the point. You're in-depth thought, which I like. (: (I would read more of your reviews, but the boxes are way too small, so I stopped trying.) 7/10 Average Score: 7.25/10

About Cass

I can't really compare to Kaz up there (what with his fancy-schmancy poem haha), but I shall try my best. C: I've been in the site making business since July 2008, when I returned to Neopets after a 2-year "hiatus." I dearly love making css and sites, but since this year I'm a lot busier, I keep my sites to a minimum. This is good, however, because now I can focus more individual time on each site to make them the best they can be! Kaz & I decided to start this site because we wanted some way to exonerate all the good-quality sites out there that we felt weren't getting enough attention. For the color scheme of this site I was inspired by the silver, gold, black, & white colors of the masquerade scene in one of my favorite moves, The Phantom of the Opera (haven't seen the musical, no. Just the movie. xD).
