Food For Thought

Now, we neo.anxious'ians tend to talk about a multitude of topics- grandma's foot fungus , the apostrophe glitch, cold Ramen noodles, politics, and sometimes, we delve deeper into the discussion of philosophical ideas. There's much to be learned during these conversations, because you get exposed to ideas you never thought of before. Cyrano de Bergerac, a French play, included an eccentric character. This character was a baker, who offered free food in exchange for poems and other shows of wit. This activity will do the same!
Hi there! I'm Ragueneau, named after that baker. This month, I've been wondering ... Who or what inspires you and why? Send me your answer, and you will receive 100 PP Before I change the question, I will look at all the entries and decide whose was the most mind-opening.

If you've thought out your answer, just send this form:

What is your passion and why is it important to you?

softballqueen124: My passion is softball. I really enjoy playing softball because on the field I can excell and live up to my potential. It is also a great stress reliever and allows me to be free from all my problems and just focus in on the game.
swimlover1618:I have many passions, but I believe I am most passionate about music. It will never hurt me or make me feel bad. I have a grand piano that is the face of my passion. It is beautiful and makes amazing sounds. It is lovely that I can make it play a tune for every occasion. Though it is my passion, I have had to give up formal lessons. It's hard, but I don't have time for a scheduled lesson. I will always play my piano.

What is a goal you have?

swimlover1618:One goal I have is to make the girl's lacrosse team at my school. I love playing the sport so much and there are not many clinics that let high school students play. I think I'll make the team by practicing hard and doing my best. It helps a lot that not a lot of people are trying out. By the end of the team expect me to be spazztic about lacrosse!

technofreak1476:My goal is to make the varsity tennis team next year. There are only going to be two spots for freshman, and though I am already meeting with the coach, there could always be someone who comes out of the blue and steals the spot away. I want to stay consistent, add more power, and just maintain all of my shots until that spot is secure. ;o

What is your best quality?

purrpleyy: My best quality. This is hard for me, since I am a sort of shy person, but I'll try. I am a very dilligent, and intelligent person. I will do my very best to prove myself to someone, especially if someone has said that I cannot do something. I believe everything in life can be achieved through hard-work and perseverance(look at Obama). I consider myself an intelligent person not just because I am booksmart, but because I understand people, because I've been through a lot of tough stuff in my life. Intelligence isn't just getting lots of good grades, and reading lots of books, it is understanding the meaning of life. I also consider myself a caring person, that is willing to help out anyone that is in need of any type of help. Those are my best qualities. (;

How important is it to have dreams?

dynamicalx: Dreams are important in your daily life. They can send upcoming messages to your brain, and come even help you with something that's bothering you. Or, there's those regular ol' funny dreams, like a narrated story of a squirrel named Joey and his "distant Southern Beech nut", as I dreamed of only recently, two times in a row. It depends on your mood, thoughts.

What is truly success?

Freezni: Success is beating your little brother at his own video games. Success is finding 1,000 dollar shoes on sale for 500. Success... is baking a cake that actually tastes good. And success is finding the perfect guild :*

Why is music such an important part of your life?

asparaguschai: What else would you listen to at dances? :D Music gives me a distraction from life, and sometimes the songs actually have meaning... whoa! :O I just cannot live without it, haha. xDDD

kangel27k: I find music to be calming. When I'm in the worst of moods, music can always cheer me up. I think music is so appealing because there are so many variations. There is always a song out there that someone can relate to.

dragon_fire_------: Music is one of the ultimate forms of -disallowed_word- *shifty eyes*), there is no point to life, because we're all just going to die anyway. But why not make the best of it? (Okay, so I don't always, but whatever. ;P) Other people are going to live on this planet after you, and while they may die too, they will still be alive and affected by everything past generations do. Working towards an end to something (like global warming ;D) will not only effect you, but future generations in years to come, and the same with other stuff. Okayy, I'm getting way off topic here, and I can't even remember what else I wrote because the box to write your thought in is so small, and I don't want to scroll back to see all the other stuff I typed. -.-' But basically, the point of life is to find something to believe in, in my opinion - make the best of what you've got, even if what you got isn't very good.

What is the point of life?

Separates: The point of life is thinking of how to answer the mysteries of life. You'll never get the right answer but look at all the time you can waste :D

Bannabean: The point of life is to live it with your fullest capability of self induced ways. Life is too short to waste on unhappy, negative, perspectives. The moment you start living for the happiness and joy life brings all on it's own, is the moment you discover the point of life. The point of life is what you make it, not someone makes of it for you.

jnhtr: The point of life is to live it. Make the best of everything, and don't take anything for granted.

m3rcuri: The point of life is what you make it to be.

believed__: To love. Without human love, the world would just be complete and utter hell. To make that person happy or to take away from the suffering of someone (or sometimes, you just have to let them suffer for the better -COUGH-), THAT is the point of life. To love all things. Yeahh, eat that corn, plenty to go around. ;DD

awestricken: The point of life is to have fun. Also, you should live life to its fullest and learn by your mistakes, not dwell on them.

onthebathroomfloor_ The point of life is to learn to be comfortable. Which can mean a lot of things. We all walk around shouldering all our insecurities and fears, trying to figure out who we are and what we think and feel and believe about the world around us, and at the same time, trying to be whatever other people want us to be, and some people never find out how to just be comfortable with who they are and accepting the consequences of that. Also, so many people spend their lives trying to get as much as they can from the world, and if we could all just learn to be happy at a "comfortable" place, then everyone would have a chance at the same thing.

xrockinpinksox: I don't think that there really is a point in life. We live, we /may/ give birth, then we die. It's a never-ending cycle of birth-to-death. Yes, I sound /very/ pessimistic right now. But you can't have just ONE point of life. For some people it could be to just live happy and not in poverty, but for others it could be to kill the president. So there is never just one meaning of life. But to me, I think that everyone creates their own meaning, no one has the same. Life really is what you make it to be.

What makes a true friend?

Winners: PhoenixLYD10012, reemacute97, kangel27k 133796618: A true friend is someone who stays by your side through thick and thin, someone who won't betray you or let other people talk about you behind your back. A best friend is someone who, if you had a pinch more of a connection with them, you'd be more than just best friends.

Bannabean: A true friend is hard to define. Someone who is a true friend, is not only true to you, but true to themselves. A true friend is honest. They can admit there problems, as well as define your problems. A true friend is loyal, and committed. You need someone to be by your side, and a true friend is committed to be there. A true friend is open, they aren't afraid to point out their feelings as well as giving feeback to your feelings. What a true friend is, is anything you make of it. The qualities and expectations are in the hands of the holder. Only you can define what a true friend means. What I explained, is how I few a true friend and the standards I have. But, in the end, the decision is all based on personal perspective.

nozy_or_cozy: A true friend is like a diamond, rarely found. What makes a true friend, you ask? That they are always there for you when you need it. They do not let you down. They stay by your side until the end, and begin with the words "I love you" each time we have talked. A true friend is one that cares, ones that stick out, ones that will always stay you friend, no matter what you do.

PhoenixLYD10012: Every one of us could undoubtedly say that we have lots of 'friends'. This is correct, but what makes a true friend? What is it that separates those one or two special people from the rest? I believe there is no special 'formula' for being a true friend, else everybody would be friends with the same person! I think that a true friend is a reflection of all that you would like to think is yourself - so that you look at your friend and aspire to be like them. Of course, everyone would like a special companion who is kind, caring, and that you can tell all your secrets to. These are common denominators of people who make good friends. However, for you, this person might be especially brave, or talented, or daring... and someone who you know that when life is feeling a little grey, they will always add a little sparkle. How do you know a true friend, then? When you see them, you will know.

icecreamjuice: A true friend is one who will listen to you go on and on about how you broke up with your boyfriend of 3 days, while offering you ice cream and tissues. A true friend is one who will laugh at you when you wear that horrible dress your mum bought for you and then give you her favorite coat to cover it up. A true friend won't care who you are or where you come from, that's a true friend.

reemacute97: I've heard this question again and again. How can you trust and know someone so well that you can actually call them a TRUE friend? Well, first I suppose, you should have known them awhile. If you haven't you can't really be sure that you can trust them. You need to make sure they don't talk behind your back, and they're completely honest with you. You shouldn't have to buy friendship or have to do something that might get you in trouble to be friends with someone. You just need someone that likes everything about and accepts you. Someone that doesn't judge you by the type of clothes you wear or what type of hair you have. You need to know that they can keep a secret because if they can't… let's just say the WHOLE school may find it out. You shouldn't be friends with someone that just wants the answers to everything. A true friend is someone who is kind and is close to you.

luverbunnyz: A true friend is someone that makes you write him/her a love song. ;D Nah, a true friend accepts you for who you are, who you /really/ are. Not for your money, status, or whatever. They inspire you to do your best in life, and they're always there for you. If you have an argument, s/he'll still love you as much as ever. They constantly put you above their own interests, and s/he is a friend to you even if you're not standing right in front of him/her. Given the chance, they would never trade you for anything in the world, and to them, you are everything in the world!

northcutie: A friend is someone who will stick up for you no matter what happens. A friend has your back no matter what. A friend is a shoulder to cry on.

spicyenchantment: What makes a true friend is not what's on the outside but what's on the inside. Befriending someone who isn't pure of heart (has good intentions) may not be the best person for you. I know, through personal experience, that people can act one way but mean something completely different. You must be careful when choosing a friend because what you think you see in that person might not be true. Be sure that a friend, especially a true friend, supports you and is there for you through thick and thin. A true friend is one in a million!

silverpaw__x: A true friend is- Well, it can't be described. The meaning of a true friend depends on the person. None of us can describe /what/ makes a true friend. Thanks to all the different ways, nobody will know! Well, unless, of course, everybody says.. xD

Swimlover1618: A true friend is someone who shares some of your interests, but not all. You need to be able to trust them. Trust is important. You need to be trustworthy also because one of you isn't a true friend. You both need to be true friends or neither is very true. You both need to know when to listen and when to talk. It's hard, but thats why not everyone is the perfect true friend to another.

kangel27k: Different people look for different qualities in friends, so it's hard to give a definitive answer. For me, a true friend is someone you can trust but also someone who trusts in you. This person will give advice if you ask for it, but will stand by you and your decisions. They will love you unconditionally and always want the best for you.

pinkdancingmonkey24: I true friend is anybody that takes me for who I am (whichalso happens to be a song from RENT). True friends don't judge on things such as the way you dress or how much money you have or whatever, a real friend judges you on your true colors (as we burst into the song "true colors" by Cyndi Lauper). A true friend is anybody you can be stupid around. Anybody you can be weird around. Anybody you can make pointless movie with or act out scenes from Harry Potter. But that was years ago...-shifty eyes-

What is the meaning of peace?

Winners: kangel277k, hotcakepudding, koalabear8597 polkadotteddot: Peace is serene. No violence, no sadness. All is calm and peaceful. Peace means that everybody in content, nothing is wrong. Peace is what you get when you join Ansioso. :O Peacefulness is pretty much the meaning of life. Peace, Dot. :D

woahbby__: Peace is love spread around the world. All around there is no violence or crimes; contentnes, basically. But not without Lori.

kangel27k: Peace is what a person feels when they have come to terms with something. It is, more than anything, acceptance--of a situation, of a person, or of anything else. You can't have world peace without acceptance, and you can't feel peace if you want everything to be perfect. Accepting the imperfect is what makes you feel it.

koalabear8597: The meaning of peace is a curious thought. I suppose it would be invariably anything to do with what gives you peace, for not everyone's idea of peace is the same. To some, it would mean their own little world, to others, it would be no bad things, and to another person, it could mean no war. But I find peace in literature and my friends. You have to /find/ peace somewhere, you see. It is not a thing, but rather an idea. That is the meaning of peace.

hotcakepudding: Peace is love and hope smashed into a sane world. Peace is when everything is calm and quite. The meaning for peace is that God made peace for people to dream about. Sadly, there is like no peace in the world. Chek out New York...I mean, SERIOUSLY. STOP GLOBAL WARMING! :K

northcutie: Peace is quiet.

Is it always better to tell the truth?

Winner: vibranze holamaechola: Is it generally better to tell the truth? Yes. Is it always? No. Why? When you think about things, people sometimes lie in a way that is not for them, it's for you. They might lie to make you feel better or encourage you. These are the good kind of lies. Lies that help other people. Lies that are not self-centered or greedy, but lies that are meant to feel good, happy, and to guide you through certain times.

reemacute97: It depends. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Most of the time it is. People lie a lot. Sometimes they're tiny lies, sometimes they're big lies. For example a big lie is if you rob someone's house and blame it on your friend. If you have a problem or you did something you know is not right then it's a good idea to tell the truth. Sometimes even if it's a little lie it's good to tell the truth because it could make a difference. Sometimes lying can also be a good thing. For example, if you are trying to protect someone, it might be good to lie a little bit. Lying is a bad thing, and I think that it is usually better to tell the truth, but sometimes, just sometimes, you might not have to.

vibranze: In the society we live in today, much of daily life and the messages we tell ourselves revolve around lies. These aren't the kind of lies that are told to avoid consequences or be malicious, but they are the beliefs that we have for ourselves, and how those expectations constrain us. For instance, one person may think, truthfully, that there is no way they could ever achieve their dream. For them, this is a truthful thought, but in the world, this individual is telling themself a lie. Not just a simple lie, but a lie that will hold them back from following what they love and what they are passionate about in the future. Lies decieve the mind into thinking they are actually true. That is the danger. So to all of you, don't let your mind be a mischevious little bugger. Follow your passion, and keep dreaming. - - - - Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it (andre gide)
