A guide to questing in neopia
There are two main types of quests in neopia. Random quests which appear as an event, such as a Fire Faerie quest for example, and quests that you can get by going to a certain page, also known as timed quests as they all have a time limit in which you need to complete them. Important: Random quests ban the shop wizard, but other quests do not. Yes, that means if the quest is not a random quest, then use the shop wizard to find the item you need. Random Quests
Random Quests are obtained through a random event. These can be given at any moment while you are browsing the site. Playing games like dice-a-roo and scorchy slots will increase your chances of getting one as they make you do many page refreshes.If you reject a random quest, you will not be able to receive one for the next 10 minutes. After 10 minutes is up, you can visit the quests page again, and the Faerie Queen will tell you that you are allowed to receive quests again. Most random quests are worth doing which is why Faerie Quest Directory was created; so that people on quests can find the item they need fast, and continue what they were doing.
Fire Faerie
Item you need to get: The Fire Faerie always asks for clothing. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: 1-3 points of strength for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: If you're interested in increasing your pet's stats, then do this quest.
Earth Faerie
Item you need to get: The Earth Faerie always asks for a magical item. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: Restores hitpoints of one of your pets. Also feeds it and makes it gain 1 pound in weight. Recommendation: Most people do not do this quest as the reward isn't really worth it. If you reject an uber faerie quest, you cannot receive any more uber faerie quests for the next 10 minutes. Personally I complete these quests because the items aren't that expensive. Use your own judgement.
Water Faerie
Item you need to get: The Water Faerie always asks for a book. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: 1-3 points of defence for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: If you're interested in increasing your pet's stats, then do this quest.
Air Faerie
Item you need to get: The Air Faerie always asks for grooming items. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: 1-3 points of movement for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: If you're interested in increasing your pet's stats, then do this quest.
Dark Faerie
Item you need to get: The Dark Faerie always asks for a toy. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: 1-3 hitpoints for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: If you're interested in increasing your pet's stats, then do this quest.
Light Faerie
Item you need to get: The Light Faerie always asks for a trading card. For a full list of items she asks for, click here. Reward: 1 level for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: If you're interested in increasing your pet's stats, then do this quest.
Fountain Faerie
Item you need to get: The item you need to fetch for the Fountain Faerie is completely random. Faerie Quest Directory does not stock every item in neopia, so if you get one of these quests, go to the message boards. More specifically the quest help board and ask somebody to find you the item you need. Reward: Allows you to paint your neopet a color of your choice at any time. Visit the rainbow fountain to get your pet painted. If you completed this quest before and haven't painted a pet yet, then doing the quest again will not give you 2 chances to paint a pet. Rather use the fountain before you complete the quest again. Recommendation: Potentially expensive quest. If you're saving up to buy a paintbrush, then this could be a cheaper option.
Space Faerie
Item you need to get: The item you need to fetch for the Space Faerie is completely random. Faerie Quest Directory does not stock every item in neopia, so if you get one of these quests, go to the message boards. More specifically the quest help board and ask somebody to find you the item you need. Reward: 4 levels for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: Another potentially expensive quest. If you can afford the item, then do this quest.
Faerie Queen
Item you need to get: The item you need to fetch for the Faerie Queen is completely random. Faerie Quest Directory does not stock every item in neopia, so if you get one of these quests, go to the message boards. More specifically the quest help board and ask somebody to find you the item you need. Reward: 1 level, 3 strength and 3 hitpoints for one of your neopets. Neopet is chosen randomly. Recommendation: This is a very rare quest. The items the Faerie Queen asks for can be quite expensive sometimes. If you can afford the item, then definitely do this quest.Non-random Quests (AKA Timed Quests)
Quests is this catagory can be obtained simply by visiting a certain place, and accepting the quest. Some of these quests are worthwhile, while others are a complete waste of time and np. Normally whether you do one of these quests or not depends entirely on the cost of the items you need to get. All quests in this catagory have a time limit you must complete them in. The time given is usually more than enough for you to complete the quest.
Kitchen Quest
Description: Ever since Maraqua's destruction, the Underwater Chef has been living on Mystery Island making food for great Mumbo Pango. Help him to find the ingredients for one of his dishes.Go to Mystery Island and click on Kitchen Quest. You will be asked to find several random food items within a certain time limit. Item you need to get: The items are random, so they don't necessarily have anything to do with the dish the chef is making. Use the shop wizard to find the items you need. Before you buy the items, make sure you refresh a few times to find the lowest price. It's also a good idea to check all the prices before you start buying items. You don't want to buy the first 2 items, only to find that you can't afford the 3rd item. Reward: Around 1000np, or an item, or 1 random stat point for one of your neopets. Notes: You can do 10 of these quests a day. If you don't want to do a quest you have to wait until the time runs out. There is no penalty for failing a quest. After that you can continue to do quests again. Recommendation: You would mostly want to do this quest to train your neopets. The items and neopoints aren't worth close to what you'll be spending. If your pet has a high level, then this quest is definitely worth it. If the items that you need to get are cheap, then definitely do this quest.
Brain Tree
Description: The Brain Tree needs your help. He needs to know where and when a certain neopian died. The only way you can find out is to go to the Esophagor.Go to the Haunted Woods and click on the Brain Tree. You will be asked to find out where and when a certain neopian died. You have to complete this quest within a time limit. Reward: The reward is usually 1000-2000np and an item. Some of the items are quite valuable. Notes: You can only do this quest once a day. To complete the quest you need to do 2 esophagor quests. If you are on a Brain Tree quest when you feed the Esophagor, he will give you either the name or the date. Save these pieces of information in notepad.
Recommendation: Don't spend too much on the Esophagor. The quest only becomes worth it if you don't spend a fortune on the Esophagor.
Esophagor
Description: The Esophagor is always hungry. Bring him the food he requests in the time limit and he will reward you.Go to the Haunted Woods and click on the Esophagor. Item you need to get: You will be asked to bring him certain spooky food items. Reward: The reward is usually 1000-2000np and an item. The item is usually not worth much. If you are on a brain tree quest when you complete this quest, you will not get an item or np prize. Instead you will get an answer to one of the Brain Tree's questions. Notes: You can do this quest 10 times a day. There is no penalty for failing this quest.
Recommendation: Don't spend too much on the Esophagor. If the food costs in the region of 2000np, then go for it. You never know though, some items you may receive could be worth quite a lot.
Edna the Witch
Description: Edna is always looking for ingredients for her next spell. Bring her what she wants.Go to the Haunted Woods and click on the Edna's Tower. You will be asked to get her items for her spell. Bring these items to her within the time limit. Reward: The reward is usually around 200np and a spooky food item. The item is usually not worth much.
Notes: You can do 10 quests per day. There is no penalty for failing this quest. There is a small chance that you will receive an avatar when you complete this quest.Recommendation: If the items cost around 1000np then go for it.
Taelia the Snow Faerie
Description: Taelia is always looking for items to complete her next spell. Bring her what she wants, and do it quick because its cold outside.Go to the top of Terror Mountain and click on Snow Faerie Quests. You will be asked to get her food items for her spell. Bring these items to her within the time limit. Reward: The reward is always a random snowball, a random item and in the region of 1000np to 2000np.
Notes: You can do 10 quests per day. There is no penalty for failing this quest. The first time you complete this quest you will get an avatar.Recommendation: If the items cost around 2000np then go for it.
Illusen and Jhudora Quests
Illusen's Glade and Judora's Cloud quests are different from the rest of the quests in two ways. Firstly, you can only be doing one of the two quests at a time. Secondly, these aren't once-off quests. Each time you complete a quest, you gain a quest level. If you fail a quest, you get set back to level 1. Sounds easy right? Well, it is for the first 6 or so levels, then things start getting really expensive. Eventually you'll encounter an item which is only available on the trading post or auctions, and you won't be able to buy it in time. Don't be discouraged though, you may be lucky and only get a few really expensive items.Illusen's Glade
