Accounts
You are allowed to have one main account and UP TO four side accounts. (As a newbie, I strongly recommend sticking to only one account, and only one pet, until you know you can handle it and will stick with it.) Although you are allowed to switch main accounts, you may not change main accounts frequently, say, once a week, so that you can benefit from training your pets at Coltzan's Shrine on all of your accounts. If caught - and it's likely you will be - your accounts may very well be frozen. You may only earn np on your main account, doing so on your side accounts will result in your accounts getting frozen. Here's a brief list of what you can and can't do on your side accounts.

- Try to transfer your pets from you main account using the pound. ***very risky***

- Go to the healing springs when your pets are sick.

- Collect avatars, stamps, and trading cards, just so long as you aren't doing any of the game or daily related avatars.
- Keep items/neopoints you find through random events.

- Do dailies.
- Own a shop. (If you already have one, fine, just stop using it.)
- Collect bank interest. (Yes, this is considered a daily.)
- Participate in plots.
- Attempt to restock if you are restock-banned on your main account, or
- anything you aren't allowed to do on your main account at the moment.
- Enter contests that will give you neopoints and/or items should you win.

There are no exceptions. It doesn't matter if your main account is suspended. You still can't make nps on you side account. If you're frozen, that's a different story. Go ahead and make/choose a new main, although if you ever get your first account back, you will only be able to use one of them as a main account.
Altador Cup
The Altador Cup is a yearly event started in Y8. Go ahead - pick a team! Play games to earn points, and join in all the fun. And hey, why not go a bit overboard? Be proud and show everyone what side you're on! See? I have links to lookups, banners, fonts... everything! ^^

They don't work and copying them will get you frozen. Period, end of story.
Just think for a moment, will you? If it was that easy to get paint brushes and the like, they'd be neither rare nor expensive. Don't spam the boards, people will hate you for it. There is very little forgiveness for spammers, even newbies. You will be reported and you will be frozen. At the very least, you will get a warning or be suspended and all of your posts will get deleted. And I do mean all of them. Not just neoboard posts, but also guild posts. Trust me, I've seen it happen. Refresh once and boom! The messages are gone.
Chat Boards
The chat boards are where you can talk to other people. Here's a tip: try to only post stuff that suites the board you're on. Otherwise, people will insult you, big time. Always remember, one board's spam is another board's treasure, and vice versa. Anywho, mom's been seeing an awful lot of nice guides, and people have been asking questions and all that whatnot, so she decided to add this little section. Enjoy!

SOME OF THIS INFORMATION IS OUTDATED. I WILL REDO THIS SECTION SOON, WHEN I GET TIME.
Advent Calendar - You will get a great prize every day no matter what, but it only works once a day in the month of Giving (December). To get here, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Terror Mountain. Then all you have to do is click on the Advent Calendar.
Bank - You can deposit your np here to keep it safe. (You may very well loose np from certain random events. You can also loose items, which is why you should keep them all in your safety deposit box when you aren't using them. That is, unless you are trying to get the pant devil as a battledome challenger…) I have listed it here as a daily because you can make np by collecting interest. The more money you put in, the more interest you will get. To get here, go to "shops" on the yellow sidebar and click on the dark blue, ancient greek building on the shops toolbar. (Your safety deposit box is the open safe.)
Coltzan's Shrine - This sight might increase one of your pets stats once every twelve hours. (Not intelligence or hp, though.) It will also sometimes heal your pets, give you money, or give you a random item. Sometimes, nothing happens at all, but it still worth going. Go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to the Lost Desert and Coltzan's Shrine.
Council Chamber - You must finish the altador plot before this will work! Ma_Belle_Michelle and Arrazetti both have excellent plot guides. This daily will either give you an item or neopoints once a day. To get here, click on "explore", find Altador (you might have to rotate the world map a bit... if you're confused, check belle's hidden links and it will show you where Altador is), go to the the Hall of Heroes, enter the small door off to the right, click on King Altador (the white lupe in the middle) and click on "collect my gift".
Deserted Tomb - This may or may not give you a prize. Usually nothing happens, but sometimes your pet may get injured. If this happens, then just go to the healing springs. To get to the Deserted Tomb, just click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Mystery Island. Click on the Lost City of Geraptiku, and then on the tomb. Then click on the links until you get to the end.
Fruit Machine - May or may not give out a prize, once a day. Go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to the Lost Desert. Click on Sakhemet City and then the Fruit Machine.
Freebies For You - Will give out a free food item per pet and 2,000 np once a month.
Giant Jelly - Will give out a free jelly once a day. Go to Jelly World and click on the giant jelly. The link for Jelly World is blocked so... just go here and add "jelly" to the end of the url (no quotes!). Got it? Congratulations! You're in Jelly World! Just click on the Giant Jelly, and you can have a free jelly.
Giant Omelette - Will give out a free omelette once a day. Go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Tyrannia, the plateau, and the Giant Omelette.
Grumpy Old King - Tell King Skarl a joke and you might get a prize (np and/or an item). This is random, I once won a bag of peas for the following joke: "When can you do if a school of Faerie Boogie unlike buying in Blue Kacheek Group?" "When it's holding an art of Air 101 Airax Lennies!" To get to Grumpy Old King, click on "explore" on the yellow side bar, go to Meridell, click on the the castle, and click on Grumpy Old King.]
Lunar Temple - You will receive a prize if you answer the question correctly. (You still get a prize for a wrong answer, but it won't be as good.) You need to know moonphases. I might create a mini guide for this one, be sure to let me know if you would use it. ^^ Anywho, to get here, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, spin the globe until Shenkuu appears (if you don't know which world Shenkuu is, click here and scroll to the appropriate sceenie) and click on it. Next, click on the lunar temple. (See previous link. It might be a bit hard to find, otherwise.)
Shop of Offers - You will get either 50 or 100 np every day by clicking on the slorg.
Snowager - This may or may not give you a prize when the snowager is asleep. Sometimes the snowager will wake up and blast your pets. If this happens, don't worry. Just go to the healing springs. To get to The Snowager, go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Terror Mountain and the Ice Caves. Oh, and this will tell you when the snowager will sleep next:
Tombola - This may or may not give you a prize once a day. Go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Mystery Island and Tombola.
Underwater Fishing - This will let you fish with your active pet (yes, you can go once with each) and catch something. It refreshes after a random period of time, I recommend trying again after three to four hours. What you catch is dependent on your pets fishing level, which will increase randomly if you catch something. You can find a good guide here. To get there, go to "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Maraqua. Then go to the Maraquan Ruins, and click on "Underwater Fishing".
Wise Old King - Try to impress King Hagan with your wisdom! Like Grumpy Old King, which this is styled after, this is random. I got an A+ for saying: "Fortunate is the one who understands that bravery are like the appeal of a flock of Faerie Aisha." I won a lesser healing scroll and 134 neopoints. To get to Wise Old King, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, and go to Brightvale, right next to Meridell. Then click on Brightvale Castle.
Food
THIS INFORMATION IS OUTDATED. I WILL REDO THIS SECTION SOON, WHEN I GET TIME.
Even when you are away, your pets will become hungry. You can always feed them by buying food, but why do that when you can feed them for free? Some sites, like the giant jelly and giant jelly will give you an actual food item, but I have listed them under dailies because you can also sell these items for np. The sites listed here feed your pets directly and do not give you any food items. Also, unlike the other four sites listed here, you can only use the soup kitchen if you have less than 3,000 np. (Hey, it used to be 2,000 np, so count yourself lucky!)
7eleven Shop - This works a bit like the soup kitchen, only it doesn't matter how much np you have. You can give each pet one meal once every 24 hours.
Snack Bar - This works a bit like the soup kitchen, only it doesn't matter how much np you have. That, and you can only give each pet one meal per week. Not the best of deals, compared to the other places, but it's still free food.
Soup Kitchen - Come here to feed your pets for free! (If you have under 3,000 np...) Go to "shops" on the yellow sidebar, click on the soup-faerie's head next to the giant circle on the "shops" toolbar, and click on the enormous soup pot near the bottom of the page.
Freezing
This is pretty simple. Freezing is when you fail to obey the rules, and the neopets team (TNT) disables your account. Permanently. (Unless, of coarse, you are able to explain your case really, really well. "I didn't know the rules!" will not work.) This is not to be confused with suspensions, when TNT disables your account for either 24 or 48 hours. There are also warnings, when TNT tells you did something wrong. If you get a warning, do what ever it says to do, and do it quickly. Otherwise, you will get frozen. To see the list of rules, check out the Terms and Conditions. Scamming is an instant freeze-worthy offense.

Illness
From time to time, while exploring the site, your pet will get sick. There are also certain foods that will make your pet sick, such as rotten omelette and poisonous jelly. If your pet gets sick, don't worry! There are several ways to heal them. Generally, your pet will also become depressed. To cheer them up, buy a toy and play with them. Sometimes it takes a while. If you want, you can keep the toy in your safety deposit box for later, or you can always resell it in your shop. (see "how to make neopoints")
1.Go to the Healing Springs. This is the cheapest way to cure your pet. You can go to the healing springs once every half hour. The healing springs can be found in faerie land.
2.Buy medicine. To do this, you have to find out which medicine cures which disease. Nothing could be simpler! Just go to the hospital. To buy the medicine, you can either try your luck at the pharmacy, or get it at the shop wizard. Some medicines are ridiculously overpriced, such as the sporkle syrup necessary to cure ugga-ugga. If your pet gets ugga-ugga (you gave them a rotten omelette, didn't you?) or another disease that costs over 20,000 np to cure and you don't want to wait, feed them a poisonous jelly. Make sure they eat the whole thing, mind! Then buy a medicinal soap and give it to them.

Limited Edition/Restricted Pets
You can create most pets any time you want (just so long as you only have four pets so far!) at the Create a Neopet page, but this does not hold true for the Limited Edition and Restricted pets. Want to know how to get them anyway? Well, then you're in the right place! But first, here's a list of all of the limited edition and restricted pets.
Limited Edition - kiko, jetsam, cybunny, poogle, chomby, koi, hissi, lutari, draik, tonu
Restricted - grundo, krawk
Methods for acquiring all of the aforementioned pets vary. Here is a quick table with just about everything you need to know.

You got all that? Good. If you want a more in depth explanation on how to get each pet, with pet days included, try this limited edition/restricted pets FAQ. It really is quite excellent, but, before you ask... No, I did not make the page, nor do I take credit for it. No, I did not refer to it for information. I've been hanging out on neopets for a rather long time, and this kind of stuff is discussed quite often on the help boards and elsewhere. And I did my own research for which pets are LE/restricted and which morphing potions exist and all that.
The Neolodge
Ah, the neolodge. If you are away for vacation, or even if are on irregularly, this is the place for you. You can find it on the shop map, or if you are lazy just click here. You can enroll your pets, one by one, for up to 28 days. It keeps your pets fed and happy, but it does not protect them from getting hurt by the snowager or anything like that, nor does it heal them afterwards. Mom's a cheapskate, so she sticks us in "cockroach towers", but it's still okay. If you're trying to save up, cockroach towers is the place for you. It's only 5 np a night per pet, and they will be bloated and either joyful or delighted! This image will appear under their stats on quickref, and it will tell you how much longer they have. No one else will be able to tell though, see? Oh, and one last thing. You won't be able to feed your pets while they're in there (since they're already being fed and all that), so you won't be able to give them any gourmet foods or get any food avatars.
Neopoints
Neopoints are fake money to use on the site. Here's a quick list of how to get some!
Auction an item- You can auction items that you find/buy. Word of wisdom: make sure you have a reasonable price because no one will buy from you if you don't! Compare your prices to those of other people! To auction an item, go to "shops" on the yellow sidebar, and then click on the little bag-like thing on the left-most side of the toolbar. Click on the item you want to auction, and "auction" should appear as a choice.
Dailies – Some dailies will give you items and/or np. You can either sell the items to make np, or use them. I have added a list here.
Games- This is the most common way to earn neopoints. Just click "games" on the yellow sidebar to get to them. A lot of the games are flash, and while you tend to be able to get more money from them faster, not everyone has a flash player, and you can only play a particular flash game (for neopoints) three times a day. A lot of the games are not flash. You get double the normal amount of np if you play the featured game. I also found a list of guides, just click on the link below:
Luck – Some of the sights I listed below will occasionally give you neopoints. Also, at times you can find money randomly around the sight. But careful! You can also lose neopoints, so be sure to put all of your hard earned np in the bank, where you can collect interest on it, too.
Restocking – I don't really know that much about restocking, so I have resorted to listing guides (see below). Note Neopets has randomized restock times. However, even if the minutes are random, the seconds are (supposedly) constant. There is a good page with estimated restock times here. And now for the guides!
Sell an item – In order to do this, you must have a shop. Creating a shop costs money, but if you have one it becomes incredibly easy to sell items, and you can earn back your money pretty quick. Always check the shop wizard before pricing an item! If you don't, either you will price something way to low and get ripped off or you will price it to high and no one will buy it. To create a shop, go to "shops" on the yellow sidebar and click on the house (second from the left) on the yellow toolbar.

Plots
For those of you still trying to finish the Altador plot... hurry up! You might not have that much time to finish it. Two good guides are Ma_Belle_Michelle and Arrazetti.
From time to time, neopets will run a plot on the site. In plots, the goal is to solve the clues TNT decides to dish out. Each plot is different. Some are little more than brief events to draw attention to a new area of the site (such as the one used to announce the arrival of Shenkuu...), and some involve fighting, and are commonly referred to as "wars". For the true plots, be sure to check out the plot board, and always remember to stay polite. For wars latter, try checking out some of the pages I listed in the battledome section of this guide, especially if you have never been to the battledome before. The current plot is The Return of Doctor Sloth.

Risky Dailies
Yeah, I finally got around to making this. :3 These are dailies that require np, and/or might permanently alter your pet or petpet. Please read the description next to each one before attempting. I put a * next to the ones I think are worthwhile.
Deserted Fairgrounds Scratchcards - You can buy scratchcards here. They cost 1200 np each and you can buy one scratchcard every two hours. Yes, the two hour rule counts even if you bought a scratchcard from one of the other two kiosks. If you resell the scratchcards in your shop (always be sure to check the shop wizard!) you are NOT guaranteed to make a profit. It is also risky to scratch the scratch card. You can scratch off six circles out of nine, and there is no guarantee you will get your np back. To get to Deserted Fairgrounds Scratchcards, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to the haunted woods. Click on the deserted fairgrounds, and the scratchcards.
*Ice Caves Scratch Card Kiosk - You can buy scratchcards here. They cost 600 np each and you can buy one scratchcard every six hours. Yes, the six hour rule counts even if you bought a scratchcard from one of the other two kiosks. If you resell the scratchcards in your shop (always be sure to check the shop wizard!) you will be guaranteed to make a profit. The only risk comes from scratching the scratch card. You can scratch off six circles out of nine, and there is no guarantee you will get your np back. To get to the Ice Caves Scratchcard Kiosk, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to terror mountain. Click on the ice caves, and the scratchcard kiosk.
*The Lab Ray - An excellent way to train/paint your pets/get an LE pet. On average, lab map pieces go for 50,000 to 60,000 np. You have to use all nine pieces before you can use the map, but then you can zap one pet a day indefinitely. Warning The Lab Ray may change your pet's gender, species, color, and lower defence, strength, and agility. It is also completely random. You must be willing to risk all that before trying. It can also raise your pet's endurance, defence, strength, and agility. Generally, in the long run it will raise stats more than it lowers them. You can find an excellent guide here and some statistics here, but these pages are not mine and I am in no way responsible for what they say. To get to the lab ray (once you have all the pieces), click on "games" on the yellow sidebar, then puzzles, treasure maps, and laboratory. After that, just follow the links.

To get to the Lost Desert Scratchcard Kiosk, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to the Lost Desert. Click on Sakhmet City, and the scratchcard kiosk.
*The Wheel of Excitement - This costs 150 np and you can spin it every two hours. Prizes vary, and there is always the risk your pet will get sick/blasted or the pants devil will appear. Even odds if you feel like risking it. To get to the wheel of excitement, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to faerie land and click on the wheel of excitement.
Wheel of Knowledge - This costs 500 np a spin. You can win neopoints, an item, or some bit of wisdom from King Hagan. You can also win a free spin. *I am currently trying this a few times to find out if it is worth it or not, or at least how much np/what types of items you can get* To get to the wheel of knowledge, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, and go to Brightvale, right next to Meridell. Then click on the wheel of knowledge.
Wheel of Mediocrity - It's well, mediocre. It costs 50 np a go, and your pets might get injured. To get to the wheel of mediocrity, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Tyrannia and click on the wheel of mediocrity.
Wheel of Misfortune - Costs 100 np a go. It's rigged and not worth it, unless you want to give your pets sneezles/neoflu and get meuka as a challenger in the battledome.To get to the wheel of misfortune, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to the haunted woods. Click on the deserted fairgrounds, and the scratchcards.
*Wheel of Monotony - This costs 100 np and takes forever, but there is a chance you will win a paint brush from it. To get to the wheel of monotony, click on "explore" on the yellow sidebar, then go to Tyrannia and click on the plateau and the wheel of monotony.
Scamming
Unfortunately, there are some not-so-nice people on the site who will try to steal your np, items, ect. I do not know that much about scamming, but have found the following good sites about scamming created by other neopians. You should also check out the Safety Tips page and the Wall of Shame. Please click on the links below to find out more about this serious problem.
Self-freezing
This is by far one of the most commonly asked questions on the help board. If you are absolutely 100% positive you want to stop playing neopets and freeze your account (or if you want to get rid of a side-account) just click here. I recommend abandoning all of your pets first, though...
Trade Lingo
A bit confused by what people are asking for at the trading post? Here's a quick and handy mini-guide.
Pure - only neopoints, no items
ets - easy to sell items, items with a high demand and a low price
hts - hard to sell items, items with a low demand and a high price
50k - 50 thousand neopoints; k = one thousand
4 mill - 4 million neopoints; mill = one million
If you are trying to sell: try to get as much neopoints as possible, do not accept hts items unless you will use them. Be sure to say what you you want in exchange for what you are offering.
If you are trying to buy: only offer neopoints and ets items, unless the owner says otherwise. Feel free to try to haggle a bit, but don't beg, and do NOT use chatspeak.
Buying or selling, please be sure to keep in mind that you can only offer ten items and only the buyer can offer neopoints, and only 800,000 np, tops. Beware of scams. Always check the price of what you are being offered, and make sure it is comprable. Do NOT bid neopoints on a separate trade just because the owner wants pure. They'll take your neopoints, and run off with them. For more scams - and how to avoid them - check out the pages I listed here. Worst come to worst, if you aren't sure if you're being offered a fair deal, be sure to check out the trade board.
