Hello, and welcome to Foster Home Adoption Center! Here, you'll find plenty of pets up for adoption by other Neopians... all they want is to find their pet a great home! So, if you think you can take care of one of these pets, send the pet's owner a neomail!

Guidelines

FHAC is happy to advertise your pets, no matter what the situation may be... but we do request that you follow a few guidelines before requesting that your pet be put in the agency.

First of all, make sure that your pet is fit for adoption. That means your pet should be well-fed, healthy, and happy. Not only does it make your pet look better, but it makes you look like a decent Neopian. If your pet is sick or hurt, you should take him or her to the Healing Springs every 30 minutes until he or she is healed. The faerie can feed your pets, give your pets more HP, or cure a disease... just be patient! It's definitely worth it. If you need to feed your pet, free food can be found at the Soup Kitchen or at the Giant Omelette. You can buy a cheap toy, such as a Headless Von Roo Plushie or a Blue Ixi Plushie, for your sad pet.

Most of the prospective adopters look for strong pets, well-named pets, limited edition pets, or painted pets. If your pet meets at least one of these, then it'll be easy for them to find a new owner. I would accept any pet, except I wouldn't want my agency clogged up with lots of horribly named, unpainted, level 1 pets. I suggest that you go ahead and put these pets in the pound.

When submitting a request, remember to tell me which pet you would like to put in the agency. If you have any special requirements, such as applications, remember to tell me. If your pet is currently being labbed, tell me that as well. Just, basically, tell me anything that you think is important.

Things To Remember

When applying for a pet, there are many things you should know. Owners of these pets look for amazing and creative Neopians to take care of their pets.

When applying, remember to be friendly and courteous. As they say, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar, and this is completely true when it comes to applying for a pet! Saying something like, "Hello, I saw your pet in FHAC, and I was interesting in adopting *petname*. Would you allow me to make an application for him/her?" will definitely score big points with the owner. Saying, "I saw your pet and I want him! If you don't accept me, I will report you!" will probably get you blocked. If you are rejected, don't make a big deal about it... throwing a fit will NOT make the owner want to give you his or her pet... it will just make them angry and annoyed.

Also, it's a big key to use proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc. while neomailing or making an application for the owner. No offense, but anyone who can't spell or who types in chatspeak (using 'u' instead of 'you', for instance) won't appeal to most owners. Even if you're used to lazy typing, at least make yourself look presentable for the owner. It's like a business meeting... even if you normally dress in ripped jeans and a dirty t-shirt, you should always dress nicely for your boss and for the others at the meeting. It definitely makes a good impression.

Tips For Applications

If your dream pet's owner requires that you make a petpage application, there are a few things you should know.

First off, you should at least have basic knowledge of HTML. If you have no clue what to do, you can check out The Neopets HTML Guide for some starting tips... or you could go to a petpage/website that gives you helpful tips on how to create an exceptional petpage. Owners usually like attractive applications, so this is definitely key in impressing them.

In your application, include information about yourself, both in real life and on Neopets, and information about your current pets. Tell the owner what you do on Neopets, what kind of interests you have, and how you care for your pets. Be creative! Make up personalities for your pets... for example, tell them you have a bashful Uni who loves to explore the outdoors and watch the clouds.

Then, tell the owner what your plans are for the pet you're wanting to adopt. If you'll use the pet for battling, or if you'll use the pet for contests, make sure to add that, along with information on petpets, toys, food, etc.

If you want to score BIG points, create drawings, stories, or poems about the pet! This will definitely catch the owner's eye.

Pets For Adoption!

Now that you know what to do, you can start looking for your dream pet! If you find a pet you're interested in, just neomail the owner of the pet. Make sure to look for any special rules that the owner may require. Do NOT neomail me, because I'm not responsible for the pets... the owners are!
