The native pets

Flotsams:
Flotsams love to swim through the vast oceans of Neopia. They are very quick and can sense danger by studying the temperature of the waters and the movement of the clouds. Flotsams were originally limited editon and more goldfish than dolphin-like. Flotsams gained thier current dolphin look on June 22nd, 2000. July 3rd is Flotsam Day. Over 3.4 million of these pets have been created.

Jetsams:
Jetsams are Neopia's mean fighting fish. They are mostly unfriendly and vicious, but if you can befriend a Jetsam then you have a powerful ally. Jetsams used to resemble piranha, but were changed into sharks on June 22nd, 2000. Due to loss of habitat and food sources during the destruction of Maraqua, they are now limited edition. Just over 750,000 have been created. October 16th is Jetsam Day.

Peophins:
Peophins are magical creatures. They are very shy and don't mix with other species very often. They are rumoured to bring good fortune and happiness to those around them. Peophins used to be limited edition, but no longer are. Peophins were originally released on Febuary 10th, 2000. Over 3.2 million of these pets have been created. July 26th is Peophin Day.

Koi:
These Maraquan natives are friendly, outgoing and very inventive. Among their many creations are the Utility Fish, a petpet and household helper rolled into one. If you want a fun loving playmate , then the Koi is the one for you! The Koi were released on October 6th, 2000. These pets were not originally limited edition, but now are. These Maraquans were also victims of the destruction of Maraqua. Just over 350,000 have been created. May 25th is Koi Day.

The native petpets

Arkmites:
Arkmites are loyal guard fish found and trained by Swords-Master Talek. They were released on June 10th, 2005.

Bubblebees:
Bubblebees are named for the black and yellow bubbles they blow when they are happy. They were released on Jue 10th, 2005.

Darpinches:
Darpinches are mischievious little critters like nothing better than playing tricks on their owners and other Petpets.

Kora:
Koras are very hard to the touch and love to hide amongst the many coral gardens in Maraqua. They were released on June 10th, 2005.

Lurman:
Lurman are slimy petpets that will happily crawl along your Neopets arm. They were released on Jue 10th, 2005.

Marafins:
Marafins are cheerful little petpets that makes gurgling noises when they are happy. These were given out after the Curse of Maraqua Plot as prizes. This petpet won the PPL(PetPet Protection League) Award on July 19, 2007, week 201.

Mundo:
Mundo are a slow moving species of petpet and are much loved by the members of King Kelpbeards court, you can always spot one or two around the castle

Neucloop:
If you get a Neucloop upset, it may give you a nasty sting.This petpet won the PPL Award on May 4th, 2006, week 140.

Noaks:
Noaks have a seemingly neverending appetite and will eat pretty much anything. They were released on June 14th, 2005.

The ruins

I'll start off with the simple stuff, click anywhere on the map. Go ahead, don't be scared. Chances are, you clicked somewhere and got a pop up window with a slug creature on it.

Ah well, now try clicking on that little cave there. You should be brought to the Underwater Fishing Cave. Here you can catch things every twelve hours. Each time you catch something, your pet's fising skill rises. The higher it is, the better the catch each time! Here is a guide to help you with understanding fishing levels and catches.

Moving on, now move south of the cave to that almost-white rock. At it's base there is a figure. Click on it. Upon further inspection, it is wearing a necklace, seemingly placed on it on purpose. I am not sure, but I believe it is somehow related to the Altador Plot.

Sorry, but that's all I got for ya' in the old ruins. Only other thing is the coloring pages, but that isn't one of the things that makes Maraqua unique. ;)

Maraquan Games

Jubble Bubble:
In this game, you play as a Marquan shoyru named Kelby, as you try to save your maraquan jubjub friends. Unfortunately, they aren't much for swimming, so you must blow bubbles onto them to cushion the fall to the sea floor.

Raiders of Maraqua:
In this game you play as a koi as you search the Maraquan Ruins for treasure, while defeating and avoiding your enimies.

Whirlpool
Help aqautic petpets get into thier home in a shell! Well, they tend to follow the paths of whirpools, so you must lead them by moving the whirlpools spinning in different directions.
