First Things First

The Kadoatery can be found by clicking the Kaddie=D

You are probably used to seeing the Kadoatery like this

But occasionally these picky little critters ask for food!! Yes, that's right, they want to eat!!

The trick is being the first person to give them what they ask for. And, as most people know by now, they ask for more then Draik Eggs. In fact, I don't think they even ask for Draik Eggs anymore but most of us still remember the unfortunate days when they did. They also ask for foods other then unbuyable items (UB), it's just that the UB stay on the board much longer then the cheap items, which are fed quickly.

Lots of people say to me, "I'm not rich enough to feed Kads." Every once in awhile, when I'm being impatient I will feed an expensive item (20k or so) but usually I only feed cheap items. So it can be done! You can play games and earn neopoints to feed your Kads. It's not only for the rich.

The Timing

Now, as I mentioned above, the trick to Kads is being the first person to give them what they want. To do this you have to know when they're going to ask for food.

When watching the Kad board they always give a main time. The main time is a time the Kads could POSSIBLY refresh. It doesn't mean that they WILL ask for food at this time, but simply that they COULD ask for food at this time.

Possible Kad times come up in a predictable sequence. Kads are always timed from the last time they were fed. So if you have a refresh time of :04. You go to the Kadoatery 4 minutes after the hour (whatever hour it is) and refresh right at 00:04:05, and again, and again, and maybe one more time to make sure. The Kads usually ask for food pretty close to the minute, but not exactly ON the minute like they used to. So it's usually between around RF time:05. (Based on a RF time of :04 this would be - 00:04:05)

So say that most of the Kads are fed at 00:04:05, the next possible time they might ask for food is 28 minutes later. So the next possible time they could ask for food would be 00:36:00. This is the RS time. If they don't ask for food at :36, the next possible time they can ask for food is 7 minutes later - so :43:00. This is referred to at a pending time or a refresh time (the time you go and refresh) usually written as: Main Pending :43, OR Main RF@ :43. If they don't ask for food then you add 7 again for a new main of :50, and so on.

Now, the EASY way to figure out when to go look is to check the Kad boards. There is usually a board running 24/7 on the games chat with times, as well as a chat board on avatar chat, and one on the charter premium board. Times are usually posted every page. Check the current page AND the previous page before asking for a time. If it looks like you JUST missed a restock, but aren't sure, and there is no time, wait a few mins before asking. Sometimes it takes a little bit for times to be updated, especially since most of the time keepers are usually trying to feed Kads themselves.

Main Vs Mini

You will see people on the Kad board talk about mains and minis. And they will sometimes have signatures that read Main :16 / Mini :26, or something that looks like that. The main time is, well, the main time. This is the time when most of the Kads will RS. A mini is made when a Kad gets fed out of turn.
So, if a Kad asks for an UB item this Kad Will usually not be fed in the same minute as the rest of the Kads. This Kad will then not RS with the other Kads, it will RS 28mins or so after it is fed. If no one feeds a Kad it will remain hungry. They do not reset themselves (rarely when there are no feedable Kads, this is when all the Kadoaties are asking for UB items, TNT will reset them, but they do not reset themselves)

Finding The Food

Now, the hardest part of feeding Kadoaties: The actual feedings, lol. When the Kads RS it will look like this (the hungry Kads from above)

As you can see, they all ask for foods. There are a few ways to feed:
1.) Keep certain foods in inventory, pray the Kads ask for them, and click as quick as you can when you see an item you have. The thing to remember is that lots of people feed this way, at least partially. Most Kad feeders keep about 40 Kad item in inventory, so if you're not the first one to the Kad don't worry, huff, yell, complain (like I do) and then try again next RS.

2.) another option is what is called "Wiz feeding." People who do this usually have at least 2 wind*ws open at the same time. They refresh on the minute, see that the Kads have RSed, usually refresh again (to see who had fed from inventory, all inventory items are usually fed within the first one of two seconds ¢¯¿½¯¿½ I know, they're fast), then they highlight the name of an item a Kad wants, switch to their Shop Wizard wind*w, paste the name in, buy the item, switch back to the Kad wind*w (the Kad you've highlighted should still be highlighted, this usually saves time looking for it), click as fast as they can and pray no one else has beat them. Sadly, this method doesn't work all the time. As far as I know every Kad feeder who successfully Wiz Feeds on a regular basis has premium. This is where not having to wait for ads and banners to load really pays off. But even then only the really experienced feeders feed more then one or two RSes a day.

3.) "Safety Deposit Box (SDB) Feeding." This is much like Wiz feeding. You have (at least) two wind*ws open at once, wait for the Kads to RS then remove the item from you SDB. I, personally, have never been able to pull this off, but I do know that there are Kad feeders who do, and that this is there main way of feeding.

4.) "Shop Feeding" This is the same as SDB Feeding, only you keep the Kad food in your shop (priced either at zero so no one can see it, or so high no one can buy it) and switch your wind*ws back and forth between the main Kad screen and your shop stock screen.

I, personally, have the most luck with inventory feeding. I have watched the Kads RS many times. I usually watch for hours a night, and will only feed one or two Kads a Day (compared to the 20 or so RSes I may see). I fed 75 Kads on my last account, and am feeding again on my new one. If you do the math, that's a lot of RSes. After watching awhile you can begin to tell what items go quickly (within the first second), so are being inventory fed. Most people who inventory feed stock certain types of items, like organic foods, or neocola, achyfi, a group that is easily searched and stocked. You will begin to notice certain items that stay around for longer, those are the items I choose to stock.

Most Kad feeders will use a combination of the ways I have listed above. As I said, I mostly inventory feed. This doesn't mean I don't try and wiz feed, I do. I usually don't have much luck with it, but every once in awhile I'll get one. (I'll let you in on another Kad secret. Kads tend to ask for the same items over and over. So if you RS an item and don't feed it, hang onto it for a day or so, chances are another Kad will ask for the exact same item later that day. Then you're set, because you're got it in inventory)

What Kads Eat

The most commonly asked question I have ever seen on the Kad boards (well, ok, right after, "when's the next RS?") is, "How do you know what foods the Kads will ask for?" And this is the answer that deters most people from Kad feeding: You don't. There is absolutely no way to know what foods the Kads will ask for at any given RS.

With that said, there is a way to make an educated guess as to what they MIGHT ask for. As I mentioned, if you watch the Kads RS a few times you will start to see that they ask for certain categories of foods often. Organic Foods, Faerie Foods, Pizza Foods, Neocola, Achyfi, Berries, Chia Pops, Rock Sticks, Pancakes, Fruit Rolls (Search "roll"). I've even seen them ask for spooky food, sun dried techo claw, brain wrap, and so forth. The thing to remember about stocking these food categories in your inventory, is that everyone else has the same foods in their inventory. This doesn't mean you won't feed, but it means you need to be quick, and be ready to miss. The most important thing about Kad feeding, as any feeder will tell you, is patience.

So, you obviously can't keep all these foods in inventory, you're only allowed to hold 50 items, and Neopets frowns on overstocking your inventory (keeping more then 50 items in inventory) to feed. I have even heard of people getting warnings for doing so, although I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't suggest it. So the thing to do is pick a category, or two, or three, lol, that you are comfortable with and that fits your budget. Organic foods and Neocola items are pretty cheap to stock. But, cheap items are popular, faerie foods are a little more expensive, but because of this, there is a good chance that less people will stock them.

Also, as I mentioned above, if you watch the Kads RS a few times you will start to notice that they ask for specific items over and over and over again. My experience is that they go in cycles. They'll ask for the same items for a few days randomly, and then they won't ask for them for hours, maybe days. Again, the best way to decide what you want to feed is to watch the Kads RS a few times, and be very patient.

The Feeding

So now we come to the most important part of the guide, the feeding!! Woohoo!!! Are you bored yet? Have you made it this far? Good, we're all set. So, we're covered how you tell when they'll be hungry, how you figure out what to feed them, different ways to go about getting this food, and now, finally, the actually feeding.

How To Feed a Kad:

You click, lmoa. No really. When you have the food, however you have come across it, just click on the Kad you want to feed. Click on the Kad in the Cage, or the cage, or that general area. (We're in a hurry here, you gotta be first!!!) DON'T click the Kad name, or the food that they want, this won't help you, it'll only slow you down.

After you have found your food, and clicked your Kad there are a few possible outcomes.

Uh-oh, someone beat you, booger!! Don't worry, click the "back to Kadoatery button" if there's still a Kad unfed, go for it, if not mark the time, add 30mins and try again. As I mentioned, Kad feeding involves lots and lots of failed attempts, even those great Kad feeders who have fed over 1000 still get beat or have nothing to feed on occasion.

Uh-oh looks like either something went wrong when you tried to buy your item, or it's not really in your inventory. Again, don't worry, yell, moan, complain, and try again in half an hour=)

You've done it!!! You've fed a Kad!! Way to go!!! This is the end goal of all your working, waiting, watching, and patience. Do a happy dance!

The Prizes:

For 1 Kadoatie you get a Bronze Trophy!!
Hey, don't knock it, that Kad usually takes a lot of work!

After feeding 10 Kadoaties you get a Silver Trophy

For Feeding 25 Kadoaties you get a Gold Trophy
You go man!! You've done it!!

After feeding 75 (oh, that's right babe, 75) you get that elusive avatar!!!

If your name is on the main Kadoatery board, you cannot feed. This means you can't feed 2 Kads in a row, or that if you've fed the mini you can't feed the main. If you find a signiture with the main time and no mini time it probably means there is no mini.

Scared of the Dark!!!

Apparently Kads are scared of the dark. They're so afraid in fact they all cry after 11pm.

For those of you not happy with my vague "food categories" here are some links to foods lists. Once again, Kads will usually ask for the same items over and over again, although, there is no guarantee.
