ECLIPSED SITE REVIEWS

welcome

To Eclipsed, a review site.
Well, I've always liked critiquing things, and I'm on those "rate my lookup" boards all the time, so I thought a review site would be fun.
Numbers are lame. Stars are cooler. So I'll give you stars instead of numbers. / shot
It goes with the "eclipsed" theme, too. I know. I'm so clever. / shot..... again.
Anyway, I'm Corrine, and I'll be reviewing your wonderful layout & graphic sites!

rules

There aren't many, but every site has them, and this is no different.
  • Stolen content = automatic zero with no possibility for a re-review.
  • Obviously, don't steal from the site. :|
  • You may not post a different score on your site than you actually got.
  • If you're being reviewed, or have been, you must link back.
  • Your site can't be under construction.
  • I'll only re-review once, and only if you've made some major changes and got three stars or under previously.
  • If you don't like your score, don't complain about it, harrass me, whatever. Seriously. You earned it, live with it.
  • You must link back to me before you ask for a review. I only require that you do it before because I've had too many people that ask for a review, and, of course, I review them, and they never link back. So, link before you ask.
  • You must have an 88 x 31 link back for me to use.
  • Put 'Meowclops' somewhere in your form so that I know you've actually read this.

UPDATES

Oct. 28, 09.
Redid my criteria a bit. I also got a new affiliate and got listed in Landslide! : D

Oct. 25, 09.
Today I applied for a couple affiliates, and to be listed in some directories. o:
I also made a couple of shouts on ConnXions! ;D
Not much else to report, though. ):

Oct. 24, 09.
The site is FINALLY back up and running! I am so, so sorry I took so long. I was really hoping TNT would fix the filters, as I seemed to be having difficulties differentiating between the different filter fixes, and I was under the impression that certain fixes only worked with certain browsers. :| Such a pain. So eventually I just gave up and used a premade. Though I do so adore Deux's designs! Thankfully I understand the fixes now, though. But I still like this layout. It's simple and clean. P:
Unforunately, however, when I was unexpectedly ( and unfairly ;o ) frozen, I lost my coding and all but one of the reviews I had done. I still have the review for Irrevocably Twilight, but nothing else. And I don't have a screenshot of the site when I reviewed it either, so the review may not make a whole lot of sense. Thus, IT is eligible for a re-review. (:
And my apologies to the owner of Vampire With Fangs for keeping her waiting so long. ): Hers will be the very next review I do. ;D

In other news, Apple really needs to give you a warning or something before you sync to a new computer. I had, like, $200 worth of songs on there and they're all gone. ;___; But apparently once you register and everything you can easily get them back, so that's a relief.

f.a.q.

Okay, so they aren't actually frequently asked. But perhaps that's because I've provided this helpful little Q&A? (: I'd like to think so.

Er...how do I copy and paste a text area? |D It doesn't scroll...
Just click the box, press Ctrl + A, then either right click and copy or press Ctrl + C.

What kind of sites do you review?
Layout, resource and / or graphic. Music codes do not count. This is because that's my area of expertise, so I can give a good review with it. I do not review any other sites at the moment because I have little to no experience with anything else.

Do you review offsite sites?
Yes, but they must have some sort of redirect on Neopets. They also need to layout and graphic sites for Neopets.

What's your username?
Cohrrine.

Your name?
Corrine.

Do you have any side accounts?
Yes.

Do you own any other sites?
Yes, I have a premades site called Retrospect, but I'm not putting it back up until there's a definite filter fix that works in all browsers. :/
I also have this really cool site called Stylish.

Did you make this layout? What did you use?
Yes. I made in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, or just PSE 7.

May I ask something that isn't up here, or make a suggestion?
Certainly. (: Just neomail me.

I'll score you with stars, like so:

For every twenty points out of one hundred you get, you'll get another star.

And of course, you're welcome to display the one with the score you received on your site.
And how neat, there isn't an irritating, mismatching background to deal with! O:

First Impression :: 10 points.
Amaaaazing, dahling ~
The layout looks spectacular, and I especially love the link rollovers. The only thing I don't like is Kristen; her hair isn't cut out so well and the edges are a bit rough. Though it is incredibly difficult and frustrating to get a good cut-out in Gimp, so I'll let that slide. Maybe go over her with a brush set to hue so she fits into the layout a little better, too? And perhaps blur the egdes a tad. Also, if you're going to use a font like Jane Austen that most people don't have, ( unless they've downloaded it, ) it's better to just use image headers with the text already on them.
But like I said, the layout is fantastic. Definitely makes me want to see more.

Layout :: 18 points.
It's beautiful. What I said before, and perhaps even add a subtle complementary color to her using a brush to provide a nice contrast, but not one that's too apparent.
If I'm making any snse here...which I may not be, since I'm reviewing this at two in the morning. |D
As for uniqueness, the layout style is very unique, though Twilight...not so much. xD

Organization :: 14 points.
Very well organized. You've got a navigation to go to each page, as well as a sub-navigation for navigate throughout the current one. The only thing is that the affies are messed up because one of the images is broken. Setting the width and height of every image will solve this problem. (: You've also got a link that you left open somewhere, probably on the sub-nav, so whenever you hover over the Notepad text it acts a link.

Content :: 27 points.
IT offers a lot, and is definitely a must for a Twilighter. Though there were a few little things I came across when testing out your layouts:
  • Some layouts are not compatible with all resolutions and / browsers. ( style 2 , style 1 )
  • Some codes are broken / do not work. ( style 2 )
  • Some of the link backs haven't been updated. ( style 1 , style 2 )
  • Some of the fonts used in headers aren't fonts that people typically have, such as zephyr.
  • I didn't really know why there were roses over things? Perhaps you should mention something about those.
  • Some of your screenshots really need to be updated, as they still say "Cloudy Day Layouts" and "Twilight-Mania," which gives the impression that you didn't make the content. ( I know you did, so don't take that the wrong way. :P )
  • Some parts of the codes didn't work as they should. ( style 5 links because the active pseudo class wasn't in the code ; style 2 petpage [ charlie swan ] because there was a "# in front of "red." )
  • Laur's style 2 layouts were not compatible with Firefox at all. Nothing showed up when I tested the code. ):
Also, for style three of the petpages, adding display:block into the CSS for the nav ID will fix your navigation problems. Also, some of te text is cut off on the Rosalie & Emmett one. I really like this style, though! And stlye 4. So cute. cx
The neo green in the Kristen Stewart petpage ( style seven ) hurt my eyes a bit, too, but it's still really cute. ;P
I was also wondering why there was a Lost icon on a Twilight site? .__. I really liked your icons, though. And I lol'd at the one from that parody video. The animation is pretty cool, too.

Not stolen / it was made by you; 5 / 5
Quality; 8 / 10 Variety / amount; 10 / 10 Originality; 4 / 5 Code :: 10 points. As far as I can tell, it's pretty well organized. And it's yours.

Miscellaneous :: 15 points.
Updated; 5 / 5 Spelling / grammar; 5 / 5 Everything else; 5 / 5

Wow, I can really see the difference between your old stuff and the new! You've gotten so much better. One thing that really irked me was the "&&" everywhere, but I'll let that slide since...I just have issues with that for no particular reason. :D I just might use that music code for Never Think on one of my lookups... I love that song. AAAAAND. One last thing. You can make stamps of your brushes so people can use them for any editor, and you'll be able to put them on Neo.
