Advice

Q: How can I make my hair grow faster without extensions? A: By massaging your scalp every day or taking pre-natal vitamins, you can actually help your hair grow. There are also plenty of shampoos and conditioners online or in stores to help this also. Q: Do you know of any straightens that will work on curly hair without over drying it? A: The FHI Heat Platform or Runway series one inch styling irons work great. They have three plates of ceramic to help protect your hair from the heat. Q: How the heck do you use scrunching gel? A: Scrunching gel is made specifically for curly and wavy haired girls. After you take a shower, spray or scrunch the gel into all of your hair. Make sure you do this when your hair is still clean and damp. Q: I always get pony tail lines after I take my hair out of one. It's never smooth! How can I change this? A: Barry from Bumble and Bumble says: "First, smooth dry hair with a straightening balm or silicone-based product. Then, take a fine toothed comb or Mason-Pearson brush and pull your hair back in three steps: pull up a side section, then the center section, then the remaining side section. If you have a ridge where the sections meet, smooth it with your comb." Hair bungees can also help solve this problem.

Tips and Tricks

1. When you're taking a shower, wash your hair first with warm water. Then, rinse with cold water (the cooler, the better!) Warm water opens the hair cuticles, but the cold water closes them. Closing the cuticles means your hair will be less prone to frizz. 2. Try to keep the conditioner off of your scalp. Your scalp takes care of itself thanks to its oil glands. So just add conditioner to the ends and mid-length of your hair. Tighter cuticles means shinier hair. 3. Invest in a good shampoo, because that's where the harsher chemicals are. The better shampoo, the less harmful it is for your hair. Investing in a good conditioner isn't as important because the chemicals do not strip the hair like shampoos do. 4. If you want straight hair, don't settle for the cheap knock-off brands. If you invest in a GHD ceramic hot iron, you will not regret it! If the GHD is too expensive for you, try the CHI. Ceramic flat irons reduce the frizz a lot better and are actually better for your hair. 5. Whether your hair is straight or curly, try to spend some time in front of an air conditioner after you have finished styling your hair. The cold air restricts the cuticles, which allows your hair to hold the style longer, be shinier, and naturally gorgeous! 6. If you're running late and don't have time to wash your hair, and it is a little greasy, try sprinkling some baby powder onto your brush. Then focus on brushing your roots to the ends of your hair. The powder helps to hide the grease.

Closing

All in all, don't try to fight a battle with your hair. Everyone has a unique color, texture, and style to their hair. Instead of dreading your tresses, learn to love them!
