Asrathiell

Everyone has lost something before. For some, even the very reason for their existence is lost to them. They come to me to seek what they have lost.

People call me the Soul Keeper. Although some may say that my powers are immense, I am but a mere servant. The Custodian of Souls, if you may.

Evil souls are from those who betray, murder, and shed the blood of others.

Lost souls are those who have lost their way in life, trapped in a living nightmare, alive but not truly living.

And then there are those who have no idea why they are here. Horrible events that unfolded too rapidly. Was their life forcefully taken? Were there memories so painful that they choose instead not to remember, suppressed in the darkest corner of their consciousness?

I collect them. Until it's time for them to go home.

Hiya. Welcome to my little application for Asrathiell! I was in no way forced or coerced to write this application; I did this of my own free will. For the rest of my application I shall be calling him Asrathiel or Wrath for short.

Before we begin, I'd like to apologize for my weird English/ grammar mistakes. English is not my first language and I've tried hard to make it flow correctly. Let me briefly introduce myself! My name is Kary and I'm a 21 year old college student currently majoring in psychology. I have been on neopets for more than 8 years and I find neo to be a lovely memory of my childhood.

Offline, I am a MAJOR bookworm. I also love photography and gaming. I have a one eyed cat (the love of my life!) named Mc Eow. He is 6 years old.

I. What are all of your accounts? Please list them.

I have five accounts on Neopets:

• Main.
• Hissi/ Dark Brotherhood.
• Mutant Army.
• Maraquan Gallery.
• Experimental Laboratory.

I have never been warned, suspended or frozen before in my neo-life. I promise that Asrathiel will be in safe hands!

II. What do you enjoy doing on the site?

First and foremost, using the lab ray! I know it sounds quite newbish. I've had the lab ray for close to 6 years but the first stop on my daily rounds is still the lab. It never gets old. (plus I'm still waiting for my first MSP zap!) I also love the stock market and my habitarium, two fun and simple ways to earn NP for all my neopets.

I also love the site for the people you meet. One example is the guild on my 'second main' account (nevermore__) Prime Substance! It's a 21+ guild with really warm and friendly members; we usually have some sort of activity running 4 times a week.

I also enjoy collecting stuff on neopets, including avatars and random items. Being on neopets for more than eight years has resulted in the accumulation of more than 4500 items in my SDB.(The number increases every day!) I love TNT's creativity; to be able to turn a random idea into an awesome item! (My Sisters Frilly Skirt? Baby Haystack? Seriously?)

Next, I love the plots and site events. My favourite plot is the Curse of Maraqua plot! I was a newbie then and everything was just so exciting. However I was mostly useless during that plot. :P Being able to beat most of the challengers during the recent faerie plot was a proud moment for me, I've come so far in my neo journey!

Last but not least, I like lurking the pound chat boards. I find that this board is the most interesting. Be it drama, watching people climb over each other to trade up the 'ladder', or someone finally getting their dream pet, there is always something going on.

III. What account would my pet go on and why?

Asrathiel would enjoy a permanent spot on two accounts, my main account, shedninjaqueen and nevermore__. Why two accounts? Let me explain.

shedninjaqueen was created when I was still young (and quite obsessed with pokemon). Somewhere down the road, I got sick of people calling me shed, and so I decided to create a new main account.

However, I found out before the account aged that I would have to sell off all my stocks before I could begin buying stocks on my new main. That pretty much meant throwing 3 years of investment down the drain. I didn't want to leave my new guild either, so nevermore__ became my very active side account that now houses my favorite pets. I will never pound transfer any of my pets.

IV. What are your (brief) plans for my pet?

To spend hours and hours letting his character run wild in my mind, letting him tell me his story and falling in love with his character. Who is he? What makes him tick? Does he like stinky tofu? And once the story is complete, gather enough courage to enter the NT.

I will also save up to paint him zombie one day. I think this color best fits with the character that I have in mind for him. If Violet and Eva are allowed to follow him they will remain untouched. I think those two are already perfect for each other. ^^

I will be honest; he won't be getting much fancy NC customization because I cannot buy NC in my country. I also think that it is a waste of money. (no offence!) I do have 450nc saved up from the expellibox daily which I don't mind to spend on him. ;)

V. What do you like most about my pet?

Well, I will honestly say that it is his species. I am not much of a trader or moneymaker, and at the rate things are going it will take me many more years to afford my own Draik. Every time I reach my 'draik fund goal' the price has already jumped by a few million.

The fact that he's only 55cm tall but a hefty 84lbs? Plain awesome!

The other thing I like about Asrathiel is his beautiful, very melodious name. It rolls off your tongue like water. As-ra-thiel. It sounds almost elvish, much like Galadriel from LOTR. I also like his name for its ambiguity and versatility. Perhaps one day he will not be the Soul Keeper, but become a wandering storyteller. Or he could retire from storytelling and become a space elf superstar! The possibilities are endless.

Life

…was simple, but beautiful. Until that terrible day when the plague came. First my parents, and then my beloved sister fell sick. They screamed for water, but no amount of water could quench their thirst. They shivered with cold one moment, and burnt in agony the next. No more healing herbs remained, and I could do nothing more but wish for a miracle.

Death came to claim my parents first. He returned for my sister a few days later.

Something broke inside me. Why me? This was life? I cried to Death, begging him to take me too. What was life when I had no one left to live for? To wish for my own happiness, is not something selfish, isn't it?

Death gave me a bargain. 10 years in service to him, in return for 10 years of her life. That is how I became the Soul Keeper.

Wrath dwells in a plane between the mortal world and Death's Gate. He calls it the netherworld. You will find that time here in the netherworld does not run parallel to the mortal world. One year in the netherworld might be 10, 15 or even 100 years in the mortal world. Thousands of lanterns, each containing the soul of a person float in the nethersky.

During his time, mortals often made the difficult and dangerous journey to his home. They too, wanted the same thing; the soul of the dearly beloved that was lost to them. Asrathiel's power was no match to Death's and he could do nothing more except giving the mortal an empty lantern and pointing them towards Death's Gate. Good luck...

At the end of his service, Death appeared before Asrathiel with his sister's soul and lit the path for them to return to the world of the living. Due to the long years spent in the netherworld, some fragments of her soul still remained trapped in Death's gate. She saw, but did not wonder. She spoke, but her voice never contained emotion. She lived, but more dead than alive. Now Asrathiel must seek out Death again, to win back what he has earned.

Will he succeed? Will Death scoff and claim him too? Will the mortal world ever accept them both? Time is cruel; the world has passed them by. Perhaps they will never belong to this world again.

Thank you for reading this application, I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed making it! I realised that his story is a little bit on the dark/morbid side, and I hope it doesn't creep you out or anything. :P
