He returns. The Begining
A thick haze weighs itself down upon the tangled trees of the forest. The old wooden sign a mile back had said 'Scenic Path'.. but this was a little much. Even in the day's light you couldn't imagine this being a pretty place. The tall boney trees all reached out their skeleton branches and held the hands of the trees next to them. meep You turn to see the cute cuddly face of a small squirrel, but as you open your mouth to speak.. rain begins to pour, sending the little squirrel up a tree and into shelter. Well this is great you mumble to yourself as you stumble over the various vines on the ground. First I'm lost, then it rains Hmph! But huh, what's this?

Appearance
Now, tall or not.. you still had to look up to meet this buck's eyes. He stood about 5'9'' at the shoulder and peered down at you with a look of 'what are you doing here' smeared all over his face. The majority of his pelt was a thick blood red color. The only exceptions to this coloration were his black underbelly and face as well as the various tatoos which creeped up his legs and across his back. He stood on large, split hooves which were indeed blood-stained upon examination. No telling what he did with those.. --- Unlike many ixis he didn't have single horns, but wide antlers. Of course, being undead and all.. he really didn't age so they still only stood with six points all together. --- His eyes were a brilliant silver and cut down the center with thin red pupils. They pierced into you it seemed and caused most of the fear that was felt for him.
His Story
-invalid_words-
Well, a few centuries ago, I was born to an average ixi family. My mother and father were hard-workers and good parents. We were nothing out of the ordinary, just a well rounded family. I stayed with my mother most of the time while my father worked in town. Of course, being your typical little boy I was always running off to explore and find some sort of trouble to get myself into. My mother was always chasing me and although I may have gotten scratched up every now and then, nothing to bad ever happened. As I grew older I became more and more of a romantic and less of a wild child. By the time I hit my teenage years, it was all over for me, I had fallen in love with a doe not much older than myself. I can no longer remember her name..though I wish I could. Her pelt was a constant black with a single white heart spot on her chest. She was sweet, playful, and I thought I had found the one for me. It only took me a couple of weeks to work up the courage to talk to her. I finally decided I'd offer to walk her home on a rainy day. She took my offer with a smile and followed me closely on the way back to her thicket from our sheltered ixi school. This became a daily thing for us, we'd walk home together sharing interests as well as a few laughs together. On one particulary cold day, that doe and I ran into trouble on our way home. A strange buck, a few years older than myself stepped out of the bushes in front of us. He was followed by a smaller buck, a friend of his I suppose. The buck stared me down for a few long moments before finally telling me he would be taking the doe from there on. His friend then nudged me out of the way and pushed my dear love onward_ She told the others she would rather stay with me but when they refused to listen she looked back at me with a look of 'help'. It was then my anger got the best of me. I lowered my head, pointing my small horns straight towards the rival buck and charged him with all the strength I could wield. I hit him, that was for sure, I sent him flying but seconds after making my point, his friend charged me straight in the head. Everything went black then, I could feel myself breathing but I was unable to move or to see. "You may chose now..whether to die or to live," came a cruel voice out of the darkness. "Those are your choices, Devuelve." If I could have moved in the first place, I would have froze in terror now. I didn't want to die and that was my biggest fault. "I want to live," I said. Suddenly in my dying dream I saw the face of a large grey ixi. His eyes were hollow and his grin was full of razor sharp teeth. "You will work for me then," he replied. "You will live the life of a death merchant. I awoke then, but I was not as I was before. I was larger in size, much larger than a normal ixi and my horns had grown and branched out into antlers. My coloration had changed as well, my hide was now much darker in color and my face was hidden behind a black skull. For many weeks I didn't understand what had happened to me..but I soon learned. When night would fall, I could feel others in trouble, almost as if I could hear their minds calling for help. Of course, I'd run to them..but it was my presence that would kill them. Their dying eyes would gaze upon mine and they'd die..horribly. I never wanted this, and for many weeks I tried to avoid the job, but my attempts were useless. I had no choice. I kill people for a living.. and after so many years I've begun to keep the skulls of my victims. In some sort of memory of who they were..and what I've become.
Family
Friends
No one sticks around Devuelve for to long. It seems that having to spend a life of solitude is the downfall in his job as a skull collector.
Love
Now, believe it or not.. Devuelve is a romantic. He loves the company of females and usually treats them with as much kindness as he can bare. However, sadly, his job has stopped him from finding love as well. It seems Devuelve will spend eternity alone.
