Long ago, a tranquil blanket covered the lands.
The elements walked the mortal lands, watching over their followers with compassion. Embrei held an army with great ranks, Aequi's lands were used for relaxation and a getaway from the rare suffering found ashore, and every other element played their part in making life balanced and pure. The omens existed only in shadows, for they too were known as pure spirits, only meant to show pain in life for the balanced ways.
But all too soon suspicion slapped the four elements of fire, water, earth, and air. The four quarreled over the accusation; Embrei insisted the omens were planning on forming an army to destroy them, Vynir explained that proof would be required, Aequi only stuggled to keep peace, and even Bri felt her heart tug towards Embrei's argument. Before Vynir and Aequi could stop the other two elements, Embrei had sent her light being armies to demolish any traces of shadow being soldiers. The omens reacted immidiately and wounded the elements, but their timing was off as the end battle resulted in both the omens and the elements too weak to stay on mortal grounds any longer.
The eight deities were cast away to their own sacred grounds and sealed tight by the little power they had left.
Eons passed the lands by as the elemental creatures slowly lost their ways of praise to their ancestors. It was a single wolf- corrupted with the image of better days and legends told by his fathers- that released the omens from their sealed lands in the underground. He opened a gaping portal, where shadow beings flooded the lands in glory of their savior. Now they pillage and slaughter packs, preparing for the day the omens are strong enough to come fourth from the vast portal and take over the lands that once belonged to them and to destroy the sacred shrines holding the elements in tact.
With no one to release them, the elements and their light beings remain trapped in their lands with only a shrine to unlock the portal meant for mortal travel.
They are too weak to fight, and so Embrei sent a single light being- using all of her strength- to speak to a young she known as Electra. Electra formed the Hope pack under her ancestor's orders and stands prepared to uphold the balanced ways of life.
Unlike Embrei, Electra did not seek revenge and destruction upon the omens. She had a vision to unite the omens and elements in peace once more, and that vision has been passed through generations to the current alpha of Hope: Phain.
The only goal set in the eyes of the shadow beings is to destroy. The goal glistening in the eyes of Hope wolves is to unite.
Just as omens have an army of shadow beings, the elements control their fighters of light beings.
Light beings are created through the pure death of wolves. If a wolf is to die by falling off of a cliff, he would most likely become a shadow being following Del. However, if a wolf dies by falling off of a cliff with the thought of saving someone in the process, he would become a light being for the elements.
Unlike shadow beings, light beings don't have specific creators. The elements are united, and therefore so are the light beings. They are held in the sacred lands of the elements- beyond the shrines- where no other living thing is spotted anywhere. The only population is light beings and the four elements, that is all.
The light beings appear to any mortal as a single orb of light, and that's all there is to them. But the light within their body is filled with hope, courage, confidence, love, and everything in between. A light being is so powerful, so pure, that if a shadow being were to even glance at one it would be demolished. This is the reason a shadow being is born without eyes. You could say that a light being resembles a sun that is trapped close to the land.
Light beings are actually the only elemental force that can touch mortal grounds. Of course, it drains an element's power if they are to send a light being through their shrine, but it does occasionally happen. Usually, the light being is sent straight to the pack with a riddle, or a prophecy. It was a light being that guided Jazzel to Hope, and foretold the current beta that Jazzel was to become alpha. The light beings guide Hope in their journey, and if you spot one floating around and chanting a rhyme, be sure to listen to what it says.
It might be the key to winning the war.
The deities are the most pure beings you can face. They certainly have their downsides, but their hearts are made of gold. Each deity protects their descendants, and - unlike the omens - knows them singularly by heart. To face the deities, there are rigorous tasks you must first face to reach their shrines.
Vynir's shrine is located deep within a jungle that rests to the South of the Hope pack. A large tree has grown around it, so it blends well. You must use your wisdom and cleverness to stumble around the thick jungle maze and reach the shrine.
Bri's shrine requires determination and will power. Though she may be a lazy goddess, her shrine sits on the very top of the tallest mountain in her range. You must venture through so many brute force tasks to reach the shrine, your laziness is most likely wiped clean. Even if you can fly, you would have to soar through blistering winds and blizzards to reach the top.
Aequi simply tests your heart. You must be patient, peaceful, and one with the still waters of her ocean to reach the island located deep within the waves. From predators such as sharks and birds, to stormy nights, you cannot reach her shrine alone. If you turn your back on your kin, betray them in any way, you will be lost to Aequi's seas forever. Keep in mind that a fight will only add a year to your journey.
Embrei's shrine is the most difficult to find. She is a goddess of war and destruction. Not sadistic, but impatient and expectant of your strength. From desert beasts to vigorous tasks, Embrei tests every drop of bravery within you in order for you to reach her shrine. The shrine itself is located in the haunted ruins, but be warned- it's very much so wired with traps.
