FAQ

What -is- the Altador cup?
It is a flash game called "Yooyuball". A knockout tournament decides which team wins.
Im guessing that TNT takes in all the scores from team A and then averages them out against team B to decide which "world" wins.
At the moment it looks like it is only players against CPUs.

I didnt finish the Altador Plot. Can I still participate in the Cup?
Sure can. The Altador Plot and the Cup are totally separate.

Where do we sign up?

Is there any difference between the teams?
The majority say no. Just different icons/colours.

These are supposedly the fastest and slowest teams.
There is no noticable difference.

If I take the quiz, will the results be final? and will I be stuck with that team?
No. Not at all. The quiz simply suggests a team to choose. The link to the quiz is here.
You can take the quiz as many times as you want, but it will always be the same result.

How do i start playing the game?
You need to pick a team first, then the "signup" button will change to a "play" button.

The game doesn't load/open properly!
Refresh the main Altador Cup page, and try again. Also check to see if your pop-up blocker is off.

How do TNT calculate the scores?
The Altador Cup Committee bases scores on win/loss/tie record, point scores, individual performance, and a weighted average based on team membership. Translation: A team with more players has no advantage over a team with less players.
There is no known fourmula.

Is there a limit of how many scores you can send?
The rumor is 360. But it is only a rumor.

Do practice scores/ratings count?
No. It -is- only practice.

Prizes? I want prizes!
Players who participate on the winning team in every round recieve a grand prize.
Other prizes will be awarded to all Tournament players, based upon their level of Tournament participation.
So the more you play, the better your prizes ;)

What is the best formation?
This is all down to personal preference.

When did the tournament start?
The Tournament started on 9th June.

Can you play the Altador Cup on a side account?
No.

In the tournament, will we be playing against CPUs or other players?
It is just against CPUs/AI.

Is there any way to pull out from the tournament?
It is not possible at the moment.

Whats the deal with that creature the neopets use as the ball?
It is a new petpet called the "Yooyu" I speculate that it will originate from Altador.

Now that the Altador Cup games have come to an end, it's time to award the best and worst of the tournament! The Altador Cup Committee has chosen nominees for each of the categories below. For each category, choose who you think is most deserving of the award! Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony next week, and if your predictions are correct, you'll get even more prizes!

Don't forget to check the Tournament Updates page to re-read all the tournament happenings. The information there may help you choose your predictions!

Basically, read the Tournament Updates page, and choose who you think TNT would choose.
Submissions close on 13th July at Noon NST.

How to play

Controls:

Move the cursor with your mouse. Hover over one of your player to select them.

Click the left mouse button to pass/shoot.

Press "s" or "spacebar" to deselect player.

Press "Shift" - Moves your players back to their starting positions.

To steal the ball from your opponent, just select one of your players, and run into the ball.

To move a player to a certain point on the court, simply deselect your current player ( "s" or "spacebar"), and click on the court. Your closest player will then move to that point.

Starting the game:
Formation: Either choose offensive (3 1), defensive (1 3), or standard (2 2).
Direction of play: Has no effect on gameplay. Choose the direction you are most comfortable with.

Effects of different Yooyus:
Fire: Quick ball.
Snow: Slow ball.
Faerie: Curved ball.
Mutant: Randomly type. May change in play.

Other Tips:

A game only lasts for 3 minutes.

You cannot pause. There only about a five second break when a goal is scored.

When attempting to score a goal, move your player towards one side of the goal as a fake, then quickly shoot for the other side.

When a goal is scored, an average of 8 seconds is taken off from the clock.

Press the space bar to skip the Yooyuball animation.

Practice, practice, practice.
