Looking for some guidelines for the
P-E-R-F-E-C-T petpage application? I came up with these guidelines myself and so far, they have worked quite well! I would appreciate it if no one said this was their own. After all, it is copyrighted and most adoption agencies are aware of my help page. Anyways, the following page will tell you what to include, what not to include, and how to liven up your application!

...GRAPHICS...

Okay, so you want a beautiful application and the best place to start is the graphics! Okay... so first off, a colorful but not gawky welcome sign is a must. See the one at the top? The link is in the picture but you could use that website. Let it say something like, "Welcome to my Application!" or "Applying for PET_NAME HERE!" Make sure you 'wow' them! If it wows even you or especially someone you know, then you KNOW you've done your job!

Next part is you absolutely MUST have a background. Choosing a background that has the pet you are trying to adopt is always a safe and promising bet. However, if you can't find a background you like or one with the pet you're trying to adopt in it, then get a pretty and colorful one. Make sure it isn't gawky or irritating because that immediately eliminates you from the list! As you can see, I have a colorful, non-gawky background. This is a safe background and I have been approved twice using it.

Lastly, you NEED tables, without tables you cannot use the pretty and colorful background for brownie points! Tables are not the things that are discussed in the HTML guide on neopets. They are scrollboxes. As you can see ALL of my content are safely enclosed in them! I will be making an easy to use code page with all the codes you need for backgrounds, tables, marquees and more! So keep checking back! Until then, feel free to neomail me for them!



To add that sensitive touch, make a marquee with a sweet saying in it. Much like the example below. If you need codes or anything, neomail me for now. Eventually, I will have a code page, too, as I said before.

Sometimes, adding a cute picture of the pet you are trying to adopt adds that extra "it" factor. Place it above the scrolling as shown below.

Okay... now if you are really looking to add the "it" factor, make a lovely display of pictures of the pet you are adopting and explaining that you will ALWAYS be there for him/her. Remember to center it so it doesn't look sloppy! There is an example below. REMEMBER! THESE ARE EXAMPLES, NOT FOR YOUR PERSONAL USE TO COPY!

...CONTENT...

Now, content is half the battle. You've managed to make your application dazzle and shine! Now, you need to make the owner of your dream pet see what a great Neorent you can be. (Neorent is a Neopian parent! Male equals Neodad and Female equals Neomom.) Anyways, the content should include the following:

1. You should say how often you get onto Neopets and tell the owner why you would make such a good owner. Don't flood it with things like "I will be the BEST owner ever!" or anything remotely similar to that. Explain what your pets favorite games or foods are and then ask what favorite foods or games the pet you are trying to adopt has.

2. Secondary, you should explain what you do on Neopets. Do you run an adoption agency? Cruise the neoboards? Or do you play games all day? Just explain that you spend time on Neopets!

3. Most importantly, explain something nice you do for your pets! Do you drop them off at the Neolodge for a day or two? Buy them their favorite toy? Or feed them their favorite food?




...MAJOR DONTS!!!...

1. RULE #1: Do NOT shower the page with empty promises or common phrases like "I will love her/him like he/she is my own!

RULE #2: Do NOT make the application gawky or hard to read. You will most likely be instantly eliminated!

RULE #3: NO PLAGIARISM! Chances are whoever you are trying to copy has already used that application many times and let the owners know they were custom made. (I have used this application guideline many times and the owners are completely aware it is mine!) This, too, will get you instantly eliminated.
