You jump as you hear a rustle behind you. What could that have been? You smile slowly, hoping that your jumpyness only came from staring at the red blinking light on the remote.Turning around, you search for the source of the rustle. There were bushes, and right behind the leaves in the darkness there was a familiar blinking red light, looking at you from another angle. This red light was attached to something though. It wasn't the plant, for whenever the plant rustled in the wind, the red light would stay put. You creep down closer and peer inside to find a white hissi. It's eyes seemed lost while the unstoppable blinking continued of the red light.
Puzzled and curious for answers, you ask the small hissi: "What are you doing here? Who are you, and why is that collar around your neck?" you hoped that three, the magic number, questions wouldn't of had been too overwhelming for the hissi. It didn't seem to hesitate, falter, or even care about talking of her past. Her voice was slightly metallic, yet you know that it was coming from a living thing.
She replied, almost in a whisper: "I am number 692. I am here because this is the place I only know how to survive in. This collar is for tracking my health, progress, and where I am." She finished her sentence. Not saying anymore, not saying anything less. She seemed to have been raised as if like a computer.
Were you... A lab test?" you asked, almost unwillingly. If you were a lab test, you wouldn't exaclty want to talk about that part of your life either. The hissi simply nods, pointing at her wing.
This is what my number is. I had to remember is as a name so when they called me, I came." Her eyes seem to glass over for a moment, but maybe it was just the leaves shading some of her eyes. You shook my head, wondering how this hissi could live such a life. You then lit up, thinking about helping the hissi.
Hey, you could come and live with me for a while." You offer a hand, as a sign of some sort of alliance. She shook her head to your suprise.
This... Is my home now." For some strange reason, the hissi quickly rested her head on your hand for a small second, and then she was gone. You look into the foliage, but's no use. The hissi was gone and you could do nothing about it. You crouch back up and stare back into the cracked window of the abandoned lab, looking at the glowing red tracking remote...
