Story

I was born a native of the lost desert, a proud place with a magnificent history. I was also born an albino, which made me an outcast among my friends when I was young. My friends would tease me about my color. They of course all had natural orange pelts, and they liked to remind me of that with frequency. I did have one friend. She was very kind to me, and would defend me when people were harassing me. And I had my mask. My mask was considered to be one of the most beautiful in all of the Lost Desert. You see, when Lost Desert lupes are born, they are soon after given a mask. That mask grows with them. I was very excitied to grow up, because when that happens, you recieve the special clothing you see most desert lupes wearing. These are presented to you by Coltzan himself. The clothes just appear in the sand, right before your eyes. It's an amazing event, and is a proud tradition of my race. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I went up to the shrine and kneeled in respect. But nothing happened. I called out "Oh great Coltzan, I am here, ready to recieve my ceremonial clothing." No one responded. The lupes who came to watch the ceremony looked at me in strange ways. I had become even more of an outcast than I already was. They then began chasing me, attacking me. I was banished from ever returning. I looked back and saw my friend howling for me. She could no longer talk to me or even be around me. Her memory, however, goes on with me and is a comfort when I feel alone.

Then one day, I met Sun. She was wandering across the part of the desert I live in, the part nobody dares come near. I helped her get some water. Unfortunately for me, that water source was too near to the city, so I dared not come near. She was very suspicious of me at first, as though she were waiting for me to attack her or something. Eventually, she became more and more trusting of me, although I feel that she still does not trust me entirely. Either way, I found out that she had nowhere to stay, so I suggested that she stay in my home. She agreed, even though she was reluctant at first. She is, perhaps the only friend I've had since I was exiled.

Eventually, I earned her trust. And as I did so, I was falling for her. We were building a new den when I realized she had something on her mind. I asked her what it was, and she told me she had a dream. She said she liked the dream, but was very vauge about it. I pressed her, and she told me that in the dream, I confessed my love for her. And that day, I did confess my love. It turns out, she loved me too. I proposed to her, and she said yes. I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Perhaps all of this was a mistake. We were wed, and happily so. But one morning, we were discussing pups when I felt naseous when I looked at Sun. I asked her if there was something she needed to tell me. There was. Apparantly, her love from the past, Rain, had come back. She had fallen in love with him again. I told her that she needed to choose either me or Rain, because there was no way she could go on living like this. She was upset, and went outside the cave we were staying in to the shoreline. She thought there for the rest of the day, while I thought inside the cave. The next day, she came back and told me she had a vision that helped her make her choice. And, as I feared, she chose Rain. I soon left for my home back in the desert. I thought that the sun would never shine again.

One day, she came back. I had stopped eating, so I was very thin. Apparantley, she had a message to give to someone, but she also wanted to visit me. We talked for a while, and then I collapsed. She asked me when the last time I'd eaten was. I couldn't speak well (I had some breathing problems at the time), but I managed to tell her I hadn't eaten in five days. She panicked and got me some food, but I passed out halfway through eating it. She stayed with me that night. The next day, she took me to go see Epothos, the person she was delivering the message to. I managed to make it there, even in my poor condition. She went in and talked to him first, and then sent me in. I was surprised. Epothos spoke to me for a while, and then asked if I loved Sun. I told him yes, and he brought her back in. Then he did something with magic. I can't explain what, but suddenly I wasn't so thin anymore. I was a little more muscular than before. My pelt had also changed from a snowy white to a flaming red, with black on my paws and tail. But perhaps the change that delighted me the most was that I now had my clothing. I looked at myself, and cried in happiness. This was one of my biggest dreams come true. Epothos then sent us off to find something for him.

We ended up going to who I think was his sister. She had what we needed to get. Or at least, we thought she did. Apparantly, it was in enemy territory, and we couldn't get there for a while. We had a week off. During this time, Sun realized she had made the wrong descision about choosing Rain over me. She came back to me. A while after, she had a vision of our pup (we found out that it was ours). It was coming soon. We wanted it to be born in the desert, so we asked permission to go there. We were allowed to, so off we went. On the way, a scout for Epthos was following us. I scared him away by setting my paws afire. This made us nervous, however. Were we still being followed? Soon, we came back to our desert home. While Sun slept, I kept watch. A whole pack of scouts was running to tell Epthos where we were. I ran after them and managed to take one down. But the others escaped me. I woke Sun up and we fled to the shrine of Coltzan. We were protected for that night; no one came to bother us. Now we are looking for another place to hide and are awaiting our pup.

Lyrics

Memory from CATS

Daylight
See the dew on the sunflower
And a rose that is fading
Roses whither away
Like the sunflower
I yearn to turn my face to the dawn
I am waiting for the day . . .

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Every streetlamp
Seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone muttering
And the streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is

Look
A new day has begun

Love

- Sun is the one I love. I proposed to her recently, and she said yes. But when her love from the past came back, she chose him over me... eventually, while we were on a mission, she realized she had made the wrong desicion and came back to me. We now are awaiting our pup. <3
